I sure Yorke could afford to pay off his contract and look for a job elsewhere.  Enough ole talk from Keane.  I hear Luton has a vacancy coming up!  ;)

I find that Birchall warming that bench too much...
I think that Stern should try to get a transfer.  Even if he has to miss the Digicel Cup and the Gold Cup to solidify in Arsenal's team (since Wenger replacing Henry) ;D that's fine.   ;D

Football / Klinsmann out, Bradley in
« on: December 07, 2006, 06:33:34 PM »
source: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/soccer/12/07/klinsmann.us/index.html

Klinsmann out, Bradley in
[/size]

Jürgen Klinsmann won't be the next coach of the U.S. national team after all. The Associated Press is reporting the German legend withdrew his name from consideration after several months of talks failed to lead to an agreement.

Instead, a source close the negotiations tells SI.com, the U.S. Soccer Federation will name Chivas USA coach Bob Bradley as the national team coach on an interim basis, which could eventually lead to his taking the job over permanently.

Klinsmann and USSF president Sunil Gulati apparently are far apart on issues of executive control over the U.S. program, which is more of an issue than money. It was earlier reported that Klinsmann was looking for a deal of as much as $2 million a year.

Klinsmann had been the favorite to succeed Bruce Arena, who was let go in July after 71/2 years. Arena coached the American team to the World Cup quarterfinals in 2002, the best showing by the United States since 1930, but the team was eliminated in the first round this year.

A close friend of Arena, Klinsmann led Germany to the World Cup semifinals this year in his first professional coaching assignment. He lives in Newport Beach, Calif. -- a close commute to the practice facility in Carson where the Americans often train.

Bradley is the all-time winningest coach in Major League Soccer history. He is respected as a shrewd talent evaluator and was considered Gulati's top pick from the MLS ranks. In his first season as Chivas USA coach, Bradley guided the Goats to a third-place finish in the Western Conference a year after they finished in the cellar. He was named the MLS's Coach of the Year for the second time. Bradley also guided the Chicago Fire to the MLS Cup title in 1998.

The United States is scheduled to play its first game since the World Cup on Jan. 20, an exhibition against Denmark in Carson, Calif. A Feb. 7 exhibition against Mexico in the Phoenix area also has been discussed.

Two tournaments highlight next year's U.S. schedule. The Americans will defend their title at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the championship of North and Central America and the Caribbean, to be played in six U.S. cities from June 6-24. The U.S. team also was invited to the Copa America, the championship of South America, to be played in Venezuela from June 26-July 15.

Here nah: Lewe give him a T&T passport and put him on the Under 20 team.  They sure to win the second match against Jamaica!  ;D

« on: November 15, 2006, 08:04:05 PM »
“I know Stern has a lot of enemies but we saw also today that Stern John is by far the best forward that the country probably ever had. We missed him because with him holding the ball a little more, it would give us some more time to breathe and build but it didn’t; happen today. It’s a good signal to the other players to work very hard and it takes a lot to play this international game.”

True.

We have the potential to win the Digicel Cup, Gold Cup and qualify for 2010, but not with this team in its current state.  Plenty men need to be replaced, until they understand urgency in football.
Additionally hire Latapy as the mid-fielder coach.  US$2,500,000 should do the trick  ;) .... anything to save us from returning to a pre-Beenhakker state.

with no yorke........i dont see our chances bright
we basically have and inexperienced central midfield

Maybe we could put Carlos in central midfield... ??

                 Williams
Gray, Lawrence, Charles, Daniel
Baptiste, Birchall, Edwards, Samuel
            John, Scotland

I think that it may be time to recruit Latapy to coach that midfield.

1989, yuh serious? Nah ah think yuh joking.Yuh think cuz ah man is ah general when he playing, dat qualify him tuh coach and have success, especially at ah high level, well it doesn't. Latapy is meh boi, I would love tuh see him as de coach of T&T, but guess what, he not ready as yet. My example for this statement, would be Maradona, arguably de best player after Pele, check his success so far as being ah coach, and ah could add more names tuh de list. Bless.
Not as the head coach, as a midfield coach.  The man has taken several coaching courses, and is a coach at Falkirk.  Besides, even a little advise from our greatest midfielder would go a long way.

serious talk though....when was de last time allyuh see Stern score a goal like dat?

Not to diminish de goal....BUT

1 - De keeper woulda most likely save de ball if it wasn't fuh de BIG DEFLECTION

2 - Dat was truly elementary school defence by Norwich dey.

De man score eh and dat is all dat matters....but there were some factors that contriubted to the ball finding it's way into the back of the net and it wasn't all down to Stern.

Again...not hatin on de fella....but #'s 1 & 2 above are truism's.  Ah could only imagine if John Sitton (former Leyton Orient coach) was Norwich coach wha woulda go on in dah Norwich  dressin room after de game.  Ah woulda love to be a fly on a wall fuh dah one.  :rotfl:

True the goal wasn't so special... as big a fan of Stern that I am.  But hey, it's a goal... I think that Birchall's was the best, followed by the one that Stern set up, then Stern's own.

Can you guys confirm this ?It was announced today that Canada would play Hungary on November 15, but nothing on this from the Canadian Press or CSA.

Yes this is confirmed ............de cut arse is also confirmed

The game might be confirmed, but the result is not assured.  Stern has indicated that he might be giving some room to younger players (an' yuh dey eh scorin').... maybe he read the forum when that person said that he was the worst thing in football shoes... oh oh... Stern vexed...

Football / Coventry 3-0 Norwich
« on: September 09, 2006, 08:28:56 PM »
Congratulations to Chris Birchall and Stern John (no surprise here), on their scoring for Coventry!

 Story from BBC SPORT:

Coventry 3-0 Norwich

Coventry romped to a convincing victory over high-flying Norwich at the Ricoh Arena to maintain their 100% home record so far this season.

The Sky Blues took the lead after 12 minutes when summer signing Chris Birchall scored his first goal for the club, rifling home a 20 yarder.

Kevin Kyle, on his home debut, was next to get in on the act, netting a great header just after the hour mark.

And Stern John jinked past some poor defending to grab the third soon after.

Coventry manager Micky Adams:

"We have won against a very good side, but we had a plan, and to a man they stuck to it.

"We've now had three clean sheets on the spin in the league and I thought that again we defended terrifically - we reduced them to very few chances.

"We've had a decent start, but we won't be getting carried away, there are some tough tests ahead of us."

Norwich manager Nigel Worthington:

"We were not up to the standards we've set in the past six games, and we need to get back to that.

"We didn't pass the ball today as well as we have been doing, and that limited our chances.

"But it's a good learning curve. The performance away to Leeds was excellent, Derby was very good. I'll just treat this as a blip and then try and get it right on Tuesday."

Coventry: Marshall, Whing, Page, Ward, Hall, Birchall, Hughes, Doyle, Thornton (Cameron 70), Kyle (Hutchison 70), John (Osbourne 82).
Subs Not Used: Adebola, Heath.

Palos Stern and Radzinski are like night and day breds...Radzinski does run at defenders and dribble...he more like a Jason Scotland or a Glen with less style..

Breds....all I sayin is dis.  If yuh give meh a choice between Stern and Radzinski in regards of who more likely to buss de net when he get a chance....I goin wit Stern.  Me eh really care how de net get to buss...if yuh dribble 15 man to score or yuh toepee it over de line.  I pickin Stern over he.  Seein dat is goals dat does win matches....I prefer T&T chances.

Solid.

The coach spite Theobald for saying that he has bigger plans than a small club like Falkirk in the first few weeks of being there.
Plain, cheap, and simple.
As I said then, he should have kept quiet and worked his way in.

1989, you are right.  And here is a good time to mention something that has been bugging me for awhile.  We need to teach/train how to address the media, and what to say and when to shut up.  Bleeder should have said that that he there to work hard and help Falkirk to win the SPL someday.  Forget about personal ambitions to be at another teeam eben if that is you goal.  Falkirk paying you and every loyalty should be to Falkirk.  There is no question that the coach was being vindictive.  He played so well at the WC tying up Beckham for 80 minutes and he should get another chance, but he have to learn what to say and when to say it.  But it is a cultural thing!  We Trinis have great ambitions and sometimes we mouth run ahead of us.  So I hope other players learn from this snafu Theobald made.
well said.

But putting away jokes, Beenie lacks attacking coaching.

Yuh basing dis on he whole career?  How much of allyuh really know how who he was before he took us to the World Cup?
Well, Real Madrid and Ajax where he won titles have never been known for playing defensive football.

If only we could bring back the good ole days...
