Ok. So everyone was calling for Stern John's departure; Stern's Response: 5 goals in 3 games to secure the playoff spot.  Hmmm... boy I fell we might have to rename that Dwight Yorke Stadium yes...  ;) ;D

Trinidad might have to play an entire midfield of defenders to be able to stop those Mexicans.  But then who will play defense?  Oh well, let's hope that Ben has the winning plan.  I wish I could see that game but no coverage here I only have ESPN and I don't think that they'll be showing it.

The PFL is forgeting that if the National Team does well, THEN AND ONLY THEN the local clubs will do well.  People will be more inclined to watch a PFL game if the National Team succeeds - which being translated means -  there will be more money for the clubs and players.  Which PFL player is getting $1million (in any currency) right now?  It is foolish to think in this kind of "Well we is a Professional club jus like Man U.  So Ben ha' tuh wait until five days before the match" stupidy way.  Clearly Ben is a top class coach that can develop local players.  If he sees players with enough potential, then he will play them.  And by the way, who will benefit from this training? - In the end it will be the same PFL club, because the players will return with new insights.  But if the players are not released, then the PFL cannot complain when they release their mediocre players five days before a crucial match that they are not picked.

Football / Don't Forget 1989
« on: September 20, 2005, 08:51:26 AM »
I hear a lot of people taking it for granted that Mexico will beat Guatemala, and that Trinidad should more than likely beat Panama in Panama.  Just remember 1989 - we just needed 1 point to make it.  Even if Mexico wins, and Trinidad wins, Trinidad will be two points ahead of Guatemala.  If Trinidad draws against Mexico, and Guatemala wins their Costa Rica game, Guatemala will have beaten us (on gaol difference) and we would stay home - again.  So we have to pull off a serious win against Mexico even if we get past Panama, and we have to hope that Guatemala doesn't shock Mexico in that first game.
