Football / Re: McComie: Lack of national caps cost Peltier.
« on: August 08, 2007, 02:06:32 PM »

McComie's response is baffling and disjointed. On one hand he says he never spoke to Fenwick...which if true..is all he really had to say. But if they never spoke, then why all the talk about information that will soon be released etc. hermmmm

While I agree that writing the letter could not have hurt, i dont think it did any damage.  As I mentioned before some folks are not into doing things just to say they did it  "...I know this letter aint gonna help, but I go write it anyways..." not everybody does move so.

Also we all know that Fenwick keeping his players away from National team practice is why Wim doh want to help him out, and i think it has now come to light that Peltier removing himself for the youth team so unprofessionally (as Brian Williams stated, not me) prolly didnt help his cause either.
Quote

Alright the letter could not have hurt. So why not write it. If somebody going to fail, would you just let them fail.

But i want to know yuh thoughts on the fact that fenwick keeping his players away...Is the club paying the players.
It's kind of a domino effect.
The coach may quicker call up foreign based...but to get to be foreign based, yuh hadda play so much games for the national team.
and as the current impass shows.. the national team MAY(MAY) not pay.
So what is a young player like Peltier to do. Forget fenwick and play for the national team?
I believe no matter the outcome, he should have written a letter about what he has heard about the player. nuthin else.

Football / Makelele Surplus
« on: August 01, 2007, 11:16:57 AM »
FC Barcelona are preparing to make a formal offer to sign Claude Makélélé from Chelsea and the London club are unlikely to stand in his way, according to L'Equipe.

zoom - galleria The Blaugrana's squad looked to have been finalised after their capture of four players last month, but they are now keen to add a central defender to their ranks.

With Thiago Motta being told that he can leave and Edmílson set to follow him out of the club when he recovers from injury, Barça want back-up for the position.

Touré Yaya is seen as the long-term option to play in front of the back four after his arrival from Monaco and Makélélé would be used a mentor figure.

Chelsea would have few problems allowing the former Real Madrid midfielder leaving after he fell out of favour last term for critcising the Abramovich regime.

Makélélé has played just 45 minutes in the Blues' pre-season run so far this summer and is keen to find a new club, with PSG and Juventus also said to be monitoring the situation.

Any transfer fee would be minimal for the 34-year-old, who is behind Job Obi Mikel, Mickaël Essien and Lassana Diarra for the position at Stamford Bridge.

Despite Barça set to ask the French veteran to take a pay cut to join them, the chance to team up with Thierry Henry, Éric Abidal and Lilian Thuram at Camp Nou could be too good to turn down.

Juve In For Makelele?

Seemingly it's not just Barca who have an eye on Claude Makelele. The outbound Chelsea midfielder could yet end up at Juventus...

zoom - galleria The Independent reports that Claude Makelele is a transfer target for Claudio Ranieri at Juventus.

With Barca's interest all but confirmed, Juve have now become the second club to be heavily linked with the player. A move from PSG could also be in the offing but, for now, the Old Lady fancies its chances.

Makelele is on the verge of being surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge. Coach Jose Mourinho, stung by injury crises in years past, recognises that Claude is essentially third-choice for the holding role - Mikel and Essien being the first two - but will not let the player leave unless a replacement is sought before the transfer window slams shut.

Should such a replacement arise, the 34 year old will be allowed to leave without a fight. Claudio Ranieri, the man who brought Makelele to Chelsea from Real Madrid, is said to be eager to reunite with his former colleague and sees his experience as ideal for Juve's return to the top flight.

Makelele's deal expires in June 2008, with little to no chance of an acceptable extension being signed before then.

I never thought mak mak would be 3 or even fourth in line for that position on the field.....

i fine it was ok, star scream's voice was different, soundwave was a friggin toy robot and dis all spark bullshit wasnt in the original, the quintessons created the transformers and cybertron, and there was no mention of energon or that cybertron needs energon, plus the autobots crashed seperately and not in their ship in de desert, the decepticons crashed in de sea orginally and megtron was on ice which is bullshit bc he cant be frozen bc of what de quintessons made de transformers out of not to mention deep space is colder than any temperature on earth, for the sequel i bet de producer will make de autobots crash in de desert and decepticons in de sea, where megatron has been dropped in de marianas trench, however bay is an idiot, he had de nerve 2 say he didnt base de storyline for hardcore transformers fans like myself 2 enjoy, garbage, and tt is right de storyline is juvenile compared 2 de cartoon.....

Football / Re: Booing the National Anthems....
« on: June 25, 2007, 11:00:01 AM »
Thats probably because the Mexican fans at the game live and raise their families in the US

...more likely because when they hear de beer man come arung bawling ICE cold Bud nobody wanted tuh draw attention tuh deyself.

I think booing the national anthem is in extremely poor taste.  Irrespective of your position on a country's politics or whatever, a national anthem, second to the national flag is one of the chief milestones in a country's timeline.  It is as sure a mark of independence as any other and we must remember, or at least respect the sacrifices that many have made in order for their country to have shaken free of the yolk of colonialism, tyranny and outright oppression in many instances.

I was at my girlfriend's graduation in Philly about two weeks ago and we were sitting in the bleachers tucked away from the spotlight.  This group of Africans behind us remained sitting during the national anthem and it was grating on my nerves.  Your spear-chucking ass living free and clear in the people country and yuh can't even raise up off yuh black ass to pay respect to their anthem.  I was shame juss being around them.

You are an asshole!!

twice

in any case...if u ever went to an HBCU you would see examples of african americans themselves who are very lackadaisical about standing for the anthem, don't even talk about putting hands on hearts and all that jazz...let the african american unofficial anthem play though and people sing lustily.

Agreed...........Bakes the "spear chucking" comment was unnecessary- cyah be dissing people for disrespecting a nat'l anthem & then utter an equally narrow-minded & disrespectful statement as such....not coo......anyways.....we know you know better- chalk it up tuh "bad joke"........

But Fari, what is the african american unofficial anthem? And what is HBCU?

i think it is "Lift every voice and sing" by James weldon johnson....

yep it is

In 1899, Johnson moved to New York City with his brother, J. Rosamond Johnson to work in musical theater. Johnson composed the lyrics of "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing," originally written for a celebration of Lincoln's birthday at Stanton School. This song would later become to be known - and adopted as such by the NAACP - as the Negro National Anthem. The song was entered into the Congressional Record as the official African American National Hymn following the success of a 1990 rendition by singer Melba Moore and a bevy of other recording artists. After successes with their songwriting and music the brothers worked at Broadway and collaborated with producer and director Bob Cole. Johnson also composed the opera Tolosa with his brother J. Rosamond Johnson which satirizes the U.S. annexation of the Pacific islands. [3]

Its never gonna happen. I mean, you score 12 penalties and still lose. That must be an international record!

Its just bad mojo when you combine the words England with penalty shoot out.

Bollocks, bring back the golden goal!

I surprise Holland win a penalty shoot out.... how much time holland get knockout of a competiton on penalties

Football / Re: Ruud reveals breaking point over Fergie omission
« on: February 21, 2007, 08:40:30 PM »

Wrong. Stam wrote a book where he went on to insult some of his teammates at ManU while he was still there. That caused a lot of tension between him and his teammates. He had to go. He definitely ws not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Keane had a lot of skill. You need to watch his game carefully. Sure he was not an elegant playmaker and he added a lot of bite in the midfield, but Keane had a fine range of passing, hag great close control (how many times would he make marauding runs from deep and you could not take the ball of him) excellent technique and scored his share of amazing goals.

Ronaldinho could fit into ManU. Sir Alex Fergusson always made room for the more artistic players and gave them a little more freedom to express themselves. Look at Cristiano Ronaldo today, Cantona in the past. Players like Giggs and Rooney have the freedom to express their individual talents at ManU under Fergie. BUt Barca was the better choice :D
Quote

Keane was insulting his own players on the field for years and the man did nuthin. The man is play favourites with his squad.
When yuh see a man runin at yuh who hands by his side and movin like a robot.. yuh would move out the way too..
I doh believe so.. i doh expect C Ronaldo to last long dere.......I believe he could have made room for Veron when he was dere.( grant everybody doh take t the english game) yuh really feel Rooney is get to do what he want to do at Man U????

Football / Re: Ruud reveals breaking point over Fergie omission
« on: February 21, 2007, 06:27:24 PM »

Not really peong. Try to think of it as a team sport. Fergie may have thought that when ManU played with RvN, the attack was too one dimensional and although Ruud may score 20+ league goals per season, his type of play possibly meant the rest of the team scored fewer goals.
Quote

people, including me saying the same thing when Stern John play for Trinidad. It it too one dimensional.. but ppl on the board will carry on if yuh say bench stern and give others a chance.
I also believe that SAF is not really a bully but more like a dictator. If yuh open yuh mouth, yuh gone. He had no reason what so ever to sell Stam. Stam went on and play with Lazio and then Ac Milan.
I believe the man is let small things hinder the team tho. If you could ask two players who do not get along to play together, why the coach must get rid of one he fall out with. Suck it up.
I also think Keane was just an extension of SAF. No real skill( when i say skill, i not talkin bout flair but Passing, Tackling correctly, shooting) but the players he have could play in a system. Ronaldhino would have never survived if he went to MAn U. I dont think he fit into there system. I doh like the man but if that is what he have to do to win titles...bless up...

what alyuh think about daryl roberts as a att central mid?

Years ago he was a central mid. In college he was listed as a M/F. And he seems to have the attributes. He has a good work rate, smart movement off the ball, can shield and turn well, as well as decent vision and passing.

i feel so...real men overratin this fella as a striker..and all he do was score a header and shoot consistenly OFF!!
his work rate is high...need to work on shootin

I agree... he would do better goin back as a midfielder... and i bet if yuh ask him.. he go tell yuh that too......
