i read that too, owen is an ass. England just lost to northern ireland and could only scrape past austria yet only brazil is better ???

if i was to list the top 5 teams excluding brazil id say

Holland
Argentina
Ukraine
Mexico
dont laugh but Poland look good too
i think spain is picking up to although they never do well at major championships

out of those i think holland and argentina have a chance

Football / Records Dont Mean A Ting!
« on: October 10, 2005, 05:13:17 PM »
I see men talking about past records, CR in Guat, Mex v Trini. On paper we will loose to mexico and Guatemala will beat Costa Rica in Guatemala City. but football is not played on paper its played on a pitch 11 v 11 and Trinidad will have the 12th man on Wed. the 2006 World Cup qualifiers has already shown us that records are for commentators to talk about b4 the match in the studio. Togo, Angola, Ivory Coast and Ghana all won their groups knocking out the favorites in the process. China went out last year so did honduras and Jamaica. we saw Panama get a draw in Mexico they also reached the final of the gold cup. Greece won the european cup. Liverpool won the champions league from 3-0 down. and the last world cup saw Turkey v South Korea in the 3rd place play off. football has changed in the last 10 years, now the teams that succeed are the ones who work hard for their manager and are not intimedated by big names. anything that has happend, is in the past but wednesday is a new day. when we beat mexico i buyin every 1 a drink  :beermug:

iraq has a decent team, ive seen them play a few times, they actually made it to the world cup in 70 or 74 i tink. we didnt play them in london, it was at the horthorns west bromich albions home ground. I asked Cornell Glen on the flight bak to Trinidad after the Egypt game, where will they be playin and him an all say london. u know Uzbekistan have a Dinamo Kiev striker who won asian player of the year or somting. they will be tough to beat too.

yeh boy CR look like they will field reseves, and usa doing that cost us, because guat got a point off them. if usa done their friggin job we would just need a draw :'( but oh well we just have to look at it as, beat mexico or we r out. if CR do a ting and prevent guat from winning then we owe them a drink :beermug:

yeh Baharain are a good team. do u remember that semi final in the asian cup last year wen they nearly knocked out japan. i tink japan ended up winning 4-3 but they knew they was in a game.

i dunno about the rights ting, because remember alot of the tv channels in america are owned by the sam people that own our ones, so rights can be sold transfered what not? im i dunno about them ting. but i deffinatly saw that game, i was very suprised. ive never seen a trinidad game on eurosports but ive heard people say they seen it on there that y im hoping they will show the mexico game as it is a game that may decide the play off spot. but at 1am in the morning there will be South american games going on, i know bravo show brazils games but eurosport may show colombia or chile because there fightin for the play off.

yeh well if we dont beat Mexico it will hurt us. but i know we can beat them as a draw means nothing and mexico have qualified already we will have that bit more hunger for it as yorke and latapy start to realise that they are playing their last minutes of international football thats wen we may see some magic. in my opinion BSC should have never been the coach for the hex. they should have sacked him a long time ago or demote him to coach the under 21s or 17s. he just doesnt have the knowledge and experience to take us to the world cup. he could only get us 3rd in the digicel. And of course managers and players must take responibility wen a team loses or fails to make it to a world cup but the TTFF must take the brunt of it this time. under BSC we were whiped by scotland, taken apart by northen ireland who didnt even score a single goal in there euro qualification. we were beaten by st vincent, antigua and cuba. the one thing id say we did do is get that draw v CR thats it. now im closing back that can of worms ;)

Unfortunately, your only option may be those jokers from last night.

Did u hear them, they said Trinidad will have to play some Azerbajan team in the play off who are ranked a hundred n somting in the world. if only

yeh thanks man, there must be at least 1 friggin bar or restraunt or somting showin that game here. i remember in the last world cup qualifying sky sports even showed a couple of Trinidads games. i tink our best bet might be eurosport they usually show important games from around the world, they showed bahrain v uzbekistan and tunisia v morocco.

One and all have no fear.

Uncle Jack in his interview say next time Concacaf going and have 4 spots instead of 3.5

Australia going Asia group and they going and change up the qualifying process.

Doe worry about no South American team or fifth place nuttin.

Concacaf gettin 4 spots next WCQ........UNcle Jack say so.

4 automatic spots? that would be rel good and hopefully one day we will see Trinidad and Jamaica at a world cup together. i wonder how much uncle jack pay them for the extra .5 spot ;) but if we get 4 then CONMEBOL for sure will have 5. but somehow i cant see fifa voting on us having 4, look how hard asia had to fight to get more spots in the past.

yeh what both u guys sayin is true. but i did feel 5 CAF spots was just about fair for 2002 in relation to them having strong teams and 50 or so members, but then again when u see the big teams like cameroon, nigeria, south africa, morocco, tunisia, senegal (last time round) qualify without much difficulty then it should be more competitive. but this years qualifyin has just changed all that and now we see 4 new commers from africa qualify. If we was to loose the 4th place i would think asia may well get a 5th automatic berth as they have alot of members, it is the most populous region in the world and there are som good teams comming through kuwait, jordan, uae, north korea have improved from what ive seen and iraq i think will become one of the top teams if the country settles. but to me asia is the only ones that could get our .5 spot. so maybe i was a lil wrong in tinkin we would always have it  :( so our play off wid asia may be carrying alot more weight than fifa would have us know. i would like to see europe striped of 1 more place for 2010. there africa might have 6 teams south africa as hosts  :-\

I hear what allyuh sayin, but to use a friendly against Jamaica wouldnt mean anything,we could just as easily say mexico beat the world champions in the confed cup so we deserve to keep the play off. and the rankings dont really mean much. maybe if concacaf teams peformed badly in Germany then it may show us as a weak confed. but concacaf always does well since i can remember.but now for future WC it doesnt matter as the Aussies r in asian Zone i think fifa just have to officially aprove it at the end of the year. Australia know they have a better chance of qualifyin throu there.and with austrailia out of OFC i dont think they will get that automatic place. athough the president of fifa said the idea is to have teams from every corner of the earth playin in the world cup so u never know. but if u ask me i think ofc should be joint with afc because the ofc only has like 12 teams and apart from australia they r all weak. it really wouldnt be nice to see the solomon islands take on brazil in the opening game of a world cup. ronaldo would win the golden boot there and then ;D

Ocenia could never get that automatic berth, fifa gave it to them and then took it away, they probly relised what a mistake it was. Ocenia really only has 1 team so it would be like giving Australia a automatic place in every world cup. none of those small islands could compete not even New Zealand. but Austalia are now gonna be in AFC for the next world cup. so its unlikly that they will take our fourth place. and it would be even better now if we had to play off wid Ocenia in future world cups, id rather play the solomon islands or new zealand than, bahrain and dem.
