Themanfriday:

How much is a round trip fare to anyone of the stadiums....take frankfurt to klaiserturn for example ?????

http://www.raileurope.com/us/rail/passes/german_rail_pass.htm

buying one of these will be your best bet..it even cheaper if its 2 people or a group..plus i believe with this pass u can ride all the local trains for free too..not so rure bout that though

the one month first class pass is 758 US... it is the best pass to travel with and works on everything

Whatever pass you buy: There's no need for 1st class.the only advantage is that it's less crowded...
World championship pass, valid from 09 June to 09 July is € 349,00 ($US 418,00).

Granado Malcolm 1978 RWO Alzey Germany
He is not there anymore. He is supposed to be joining FC Schweinfurt 05 in January.

oh and what division that is in the second division

FC Schweinfurt 05 competes in the Landesliga which is equivalent to the 6th division.

In some of the German states "Landesliga" is 6th divison, in Bavaria, where Schweinfurt is located, it's 5th division.
Anyhow: I don't think a player from that league can help.
I don't understand the whole thing about new players anyway: You have players who are responsible for qualifying for the wc. Those players should get the reward and go to germany.

6th division

Schweinfurt 05 is in fifth division. But I also can't see how a player from that league could help. We talkin' boout de world cup where the best players meet!
In Germany we had a big discussion, if it's O.K. to pick a player from the 2nd division....

Blatter today announced that Di Canio will be punished by FIFA if he will be punished by the Italian football federation. He basically calls Di Canio a racist.
He also thinks about relegating racial clubs like Lazio!

A friend of mine is flying Toronto-Frankfurt-Toronto from June, 08 to June, 22 with Condor, price is € 474 (appr. 564 US$).

Condor also flies from Halifax, Vancouver, Calgary, Whitehorse and Moncton to Germany.
In the US they serve Fairbanks, Anchorage, Las Vegas, Orlando and Fort Myers.

Last but not least many flights from the Caribbean islands to Germany, e.g. from TOBAGO!

Right now real bargains possible!

Here are some useful links for your trip / stay:

Two personal tips from my side:
1.) Never buy food / drinks inside airports (too expensive, except they have a supermarket inside like Munich). >> Ask for the taxi driver's bistro! Much cheaper!
2.) If you don't want to pay for public bathrooms, in city centers: Look for bigger book stores (like Hugendubel, Thalia etc.) bathrooms are free of chrge there.

This weekend Lazio's team captain Paolo Di Canio showed the fascistic saluation again towards the Lazio Fans....
He had done the same in January before in the match against AS Rome and received a € 10.000 fine....
Anybody still believes Lazio and Di Canio are not racists / nazis?  >:(

Here's another proof

de youth hostels in germany are very decent, some of de renovated/newr ones compare favourably tuh hotrls

i think i read somewhere bout an age limit..is that true?

hotel looking at least $100US a night...i ent mind shacking up anyway..but meh wife coming too..so ah cant do things the Trini way lol.

anybody know how strict they are in europe bout double occupancy?..i want to know if u can get a room with 2 beds and have 10 people lol

as far as i know, the age rule only applies in bavaria (nuernberg is in bavaria...).
many youth hostels offer family rooms today - meaning mixed gender is o.k. - they won't ask for your wedding certificate  ;)

10 people in a double room? i don't think it will work.
etap hotels offer a triple room for appr. € 35 - 40 a night. they are clean, have an own bathroom, own shower and tv

since you german guys are here, I'm curious to find out about a player of ours that seems to have gotten lost in the 4th division in germany.  his name is evans wise and he plays for Waldhof Mannheim.  I don't read german so I was wondering if either of you guys could check out the site and translate what they are saynig about him on his club page.

this is all about him on the club page (including a picture of course):
Saison 05 / 06

Ligaspiele: 19     (league matches)
Pokalspiele: 3     (cup matches)
Ligatore: 0        (goals in the league)
Pokaltore: 1     (goals in the cup)
Gelbe Karten: 3     (yello cards)
Gelb-Rote Karten: 0     (yello red cards)
Rote Karten: 0  (red cards)

and if you're not a stundent, just give some passport pictures to somebody who's going to Bangkok and he will bring you the cards for the next years  ;)

you on my page lizard...so how long does this interRail ticket last?  and what does the 1 zone mean?
also, what is the deal on like campground sites and pitching a tent.  Any of that stuff goes on in Germany in the summer.  How cold does it get on summerr nights?

one zone ticket last 16 days. germany, switzerland, austria and denmark are one zone,e.g.
sweden, norway and finland would be another one.

camping should be taken into consideration for sure! usually good equipped and by far cheaper than any hotel. no problem with the temperatures. rain fall is not as bad as in TT for the wet season, that's for sure  ;)

2006 World Cup - Germany / Re: How far (in hours) are these games by train?
« on: December 10, 2005, 08:04:33 AM »
hello, im from germany, welcome to the world cup!

from dortmund to nuernberg, it will take about 4-5 hours by regular train...

from nuernberg to kaiserslautern (which is close to where i live) it will take about 2-3 hours by regular train...

if u take the ICE train (the superspeed train) it will take you approxiamately half the time... flying is possible from dortmund to nuernberg, that would take maybe 45 mins... there are companies that fly cheap in germany like easyjet or ryanair, amongst others. a early booked flight could be as cheap as 20-50 euros, which is even cheaper than train...

flying to kaiserslautern is not possible, as frankfurt is the closest airport and is 1,5 hours by train...

Sorry, but I have to disagree abou the flying thing, because I work in the airline industry. Air Berlin (a low coster indeed) offers flights Dortmind-Nuernberg right now. But: Those are feeder flights, because Nuernberg is their winter hub! In summer they will most likely go to direct flights again (Dortmund-Palma, Dortmund-Barcelona etc.) Such a hub in summer is very unlikely, thus no feeder flights. Ryanair and Easyjet don’t serve tis route at all.
There’s a small local airline, called LGW, who serve Dortmund-Nürnberg, but they operate Do228 (18 seater, turboprop) and a oneway is about EUR 200,00. So forget about flying!
I checked the trains again: 5:00 hours is the speed train from Dortmind to Nürnberg! Costs appr. EUR 100. Slower ones are between EUR 55 and EUR 75, but they run between 8 and 9 hours and you have to change trains 4 times....
You have to watch out for specials (group tickets, Interrail etc) The „Bahn“ just offered a championship pass for  EUR 349, for the duration of the tournament, valid for all trains, as often as you like to...

Football / US football
« on: December 09, 2005, 05:50:31 PM »
I was born in Sacrameto, CA. but I moved to Germany when I was about 10 months old. I have an Americam passport but I feel German of course. I have very mixed feelings bout de US in general, esp. since George W. is in charge...
But when I studied in South Carolina I learned one thing: Those Americans who play "real" football (soccer) are different  in most cases. Many of them have a European or South / Central American background. Many have have travelled abroard. They are in a way "swimmers against the stream."They are more open minded as the general American. That's why I always had a good opinion about their football team, even if I don't like the American attitude.
One day they will have to accept that football rules the world (and hopefully they will finall call it football....) :peace:

Football / Re: FIFA / UEFA = Gravediggers of football
« on: December 09, 2005, 05:11:52 PM »
To me FIFA and UEFA are the gravediggers of football. They are selling the soul of the game. >:(
Money rulez. They are making the rich clubs richer and the poor ones poorer.
They are commin' up with bullsh...rules, like booking a player for taking of his shirt after scoring sad  :cursing:

How does that rule help the rich clubs to the expense of the poor?

I just mentioned different points why I critisize them, no connection here.
But a) The rule is bullshit and b) the way UEFA disrtibutes money in the CL makes the gap between rich and poor bigger and bigger.
Another examle from Germanies's cup competition: Only one third division team left among the last 16 teams. If they'd show their match on TV it would help that club big times (people asked for that match too). But: they show the usual ones. The extra money is peanuts for them, but their managers have big influence on the TV stations.
My main point is: Why are stands not allowed in international games (at least in Europe)? CRAP CRAP CRAP. If I go to a stadium, I want to stand! That's football. Who want's to stand at a condert of the Rolling Stones or whoever. Sitting is for the butt, we say in Germany.
From TTs point of view: Even the ranking system is only about money: The big guys do't want TT, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica and Angola in one group...
I am supporter of a very poor club an d I konow what I'm talking about. I won't change my mind.

You are talking about real issues in football but not all the problems you mentioned are UEFA or FIFA's fault ...or solely their fault. Your point about the ranking for the WC is just plain ridiculous. I not even going to bother to explain how that makes no sense...if that was the case then they would just give Europe and South America more spots..and they are doing the opposite...u r sounding a lil paranoid. good luck to your team...

I don't know too much about CONCACAF, Asian Footbaal etc. Probably it's the same.
Sometimes things are too coplicated for a short post...But it can't be O.K. if e.g. only 10% of the wc tix are in free sale...look at past tournaments: sponsors get tix and the seats will be empty, because you don't want to take your BUSINESS partners to TT vs. Paraguay (unfortunately the draw showes you that's what your tix are for). You as a Businessman think it's nut suitable! That's a fact and it still makes me angry

Dortmund ---> Nuremberg

Nuremberg ---> Kaiserslautern

Is air travel the best bet here?

www.bahn.de will give you the results:

both ways are about 4 hours and 30 ninutes. flying won't help. kaiserslautern is only a military air base and dortmund is not connected to Nuremburg. If it would be i'd cost a fortune...Train is de deal.

Here's the deal: You buy an Interrail ticket for 1 zone. You pay 195 EUR when you are 26 or younger or EUR 285 when you older. You can travel throughout whole  Germany with this ticket. And for the nights, you pick a train from Frankfurt to Hamburg (or where ever you want), sleep in de train, take the train back, sleep again and spend the day where ever you want. For three or four weeks that's kind of tough, but for some days it works - I tried it in my younger years  ;D
