Bahrain is a worthy competitor for this last spot... the stats are useful but i would focus on the fact that they have won over 25% of their games.... we're an intercol country so we know how that goes... in do or die matches any 'dog' (no pun intended) can have its day..... we need to be vigilant and keep those brothers vibsed up....  :chilling:

Yuh know what we say in TNT --- what miss yuh ain' pass yuh...... an in JCA they say it a lili different... Pig say to Hog, 'how yuh nose so long?" Hog say to pig... wait a while your turn soon come.....though i may have missed something in the translation i'm pretty sure that teams which turn football into a pure business usually get what's coming to them... everyone knows... what goes around comes around..  :chilling:

people tend to walk the white line until they have a certain amount of visibility.... which usually equates to self profit/reward.... now profit isn't only about money, it could be gratification etc.... we see players committing when the cost benefit profile better fits their own goals... i sumbit each one of us has been guilty of indulging in this atrocious self serving approach at one point or another.... i know i have :chilling:  :chilling: and that's a good point... there's a reason those guys play at the top football levels.

That is why we have been failing for a long time ... we are not interested in examining the past ... the past has a lot to do with what your future hold.  For example if we do not realize that having played on coached at the top level should be a pre-requisite for that job, then after all of this we would assign another incompetent individual and have unreachable expectations.
Quote

sound like rhetoric .... wha's de past.... 500 years or 2 years - 2 weeks or 3 months..... are we talking about the past that has a direct link to our future? -  in which case we can just examine the trend from beenies employment... from the so so results to the last match..... if you want to figure out why we're where we are you might want to focus on the positives.... ie. development of Yorke (big BSC influence) and Latapy. Setting up BSC is an exercise in futility given the lack of context .... one can get past failures by adopting and learning new strategies, by being open minded and being positive.... blame game is pure confusionism ....  :chilling:

Notwithstanding the contributions to football by JW there is a right way and a wrong way to deal with people and situations........  :chilling: if there isn't respect shown from the getgo this results in harboured feeling of antagonism by both sides and between both countries... given the history between TNT and JCA cooler freaking heads should have prevailed... what may seem as a short term patch may just contribute to a  long term  problem.... I'm totally frustrated that minnows in the larger scheme of things keep trying to create tusamis. :chilling: :chilling:

Falkirk 1-1 LivingstonPA

Man-of-the-moment Robert Snodgrass somehow emerged the Livingston hero again after snatching a spectacular last-gasp 1-1 draw in the Bank of Scotland Premier League clash at the Falkirk Stadium.

Paul Lambert's side looked like being plunged right back to square one after a freakish Harold Pinxten own goal gave John Hughes' men a deserved first-half lead.

But Falkirk failed to kill off the game and Snodgrass, who scored a double as his side came from two goals down to hold Rangers in midweek, made them pay in dramatic fashion to move Livingston level on points with Dunfermline at the foot of the table.

Lambert replaced himself with Neil Barrett in the only change from the rejuvenated midweek side, but he was left scratching his head at the failure to perform for most of the game.

In contrast, Hughes' outfit should have built on their impressive 3-0 victory at Inverness Caledonian Thistle but failed to take their chances.

Falkirk came within inches of going ahead after just two minutes and it all stemmed from the magic boots of veteran Russell Latapy.

The man-of-the-match slipped the ball into the path of in-form striker Darryl Duffy, but the post denied him his fifth goal in five matches.

The former Rangers man was at the heart of his side's best moves and he tested Roddy McKenzie in the ninth minute, but the Livingston man did well to tip his 25-yard free-kick over the crossbar.

Falkirk went close again in the 15th minute, but Andy Lawrie's effort from McPherson's cross took a deflection off Paul Tierney and went just wide of the upright.

The home side deserved to take the lead from the resulting corner, although they needed a big favour from Pinxten, who headed McPherson's cross past his own goalkeeper to the shock of his team-mates and his nearest challenger Craig Ireland.

It took 23 minutes for Livingston to threaten when Barrett picked out Alan Walker, but having controlled the ball on his chest, he drove his right-foot shot over.

Livingston's midweek hero Snodgrass never looked like scaling the same sort of heights and he hit a weak 31st-minute strike at Matt Glennon.

Latapy was running the show and he again linked up well with Duffy, but the striker could not get the height on the chip to beat McKenzie after a great turn.

The Scotland Under-21 international looked like running on to his team-mate's through-ball in the 37th minute until Pinxten blocked him, but the defender escaped punishment.

Snodgrass was booked before the break for a foul on Tiago Rodrigues, before Derek Adams felt the full force of a Latapy drive.

Glennon was so quiet in the first-half he came out at the break for a warm up, but he needed to be alert in the 48th minute to save Snodgrass' ambitious long-range effort.

Duffy had the ball in the net moments later following a great lay-off from Latapy, but he was wrongly pulled back for offside.

Falkirk seemed to fall asleep and Pinxten woke them up by sending a right-foot shot just past the upright from the edge of the box with Glennon scurrying across his goal.

The home side came close to killing the game off in the 76th minute, but McKenzie saved superbly from Stephen Thomson from close range and Duffy failed to steer home the rebound.

The visiting boss was appealing for a penalty in the 78th minute when Richard Brittain went down after colliding with McPherson, but the referee was right to ignore him.

Hughes brought on popular striker Pedro Moutinho for Duffy with 10 minutes remaining and the departing frontman justifiably earned a standing ovation.

Latapy would have wrapped the game up moments later had his powerful drive not struck Greg Strong full in the face, before Stephen Adam was booked for a foul.

Moutinho curled a 25-yard free-kick just over with four minutes left, before Lambert took off Adams for Gary Miller to cheers from the beleaguered visiting supporters. But they never expected what was to come.

Snodgrass snatched a dramatic equaliser for Livingston with two minutes remaining as he cut in from the left and curled a superb right-foot effort past Glennon.

Great interview...

#1. Finally gives Latapy his due.

#2. Identifies the missing factor in TNT football --- discipline, teamwork in an organized framework. Problem was never about talent.

#3. Respect for players and work.... eg. what a man work for is his, (we know this from playing rings - marble pitch), so it not easy to break into an established team - see Jack and Shaka... newcomers, even if they are picked are not guaranteed to play and they must be able to take this without disrupting the team chemistry. That said opportunities must be siezed.

#4. Easygoing confidence - this is always good.

#5. Understands the essence of football - beyond language barriers - and also understands that the coach has limitations because he is not on the field.

Great Interview ....  :chilling:

With love from Behbehman:

True football competition goes beyond the football field

In a world of market forces, stochastic variables, wheeling and dealing, and people such as David Nakhid, the Soca Warriors should stand proud to know that they are now a world force to reckon with.  Take note, Trinidad and Tobago is just about 2000 square miles in area, a literal dot on a world map, with a tiny population of 1.3 million residents but what a ripple is being made, not only in football but in almost every other arena.

While many recently walked the “Death March” against violent crime in Trinidad and Tobago, it is sad that several other person(s) are maybe committing another type of crime, which may not be too violent but in the long run could wreak havoc on Trinidad and Tobago.  Why should Trinidad and Tobago remain cap-in-hand at the mercy of such vultures that pick out the eyes of its citizens.  If a person sells our football secrets, and barters with the “enemy” for a few pieces of silver then that person should be permanently disbanded from all matters relative to football in this country.  He or she should not even be given the privilege of gaining entry to a football stadium to see a match.

I am now going to stand on my very own soapbox.  It is high time that we as citizens of Trinidad and Tobago realize the potential of our citizenry to effect excellence and perform with strength and power in all quadrants of the known world.  It is high time that we stop killing each other physically, intellectually, and psychologically.  There are some of us who are still “up there” stuck in some “Sycamore Tree.”  It’s about time such people come down from their ivory towers and throw in their support for something worthwhile.  We can compete!  We are not afraid to stand our ground in this matter of football.  Bahrain is afraid and is fighting a losing battle.  We know what they are up to.  We would not bow to any form of psychological “terrorism.”  How could they ever begin to destabilize our footballers?  The slave masters of yesteryear tried to cripple the development our beautiful art forms such as the steelpan and calypso.  Guess who is playing the steelpan now.  We will show Bahrain how to play football.

There is a kind of strength in a Trinigonian to rise up with renewed zeal and vigor, carnival mentality or no.  We are not going to “parang the wrong house” this time around.  We did that already in 1989.  I may not be able to go to Germany to see any FIFA World Cup match but I look forward to see my flag flying high in the German stadium.  Yes, wouldn’t it be nice to see Latas, Dwight and “bong tuh score” Stern John playing in Germany? I will relish the moment.  Anytime I see our flag, it revives a sense of awareness that I have to fight for my country’s name.  I feel just as proud when I first saw it flutter in the breeze on August 31st 1962.  The last time I saw the flag physically flying was up in the Winter Games ski slope in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Sounds strange, doesn’t it? Trinidad and Tobago is a different type of country with a different type of people, a people who know how to struggle and how to win; a people who leaves an indelible mark on any landscape.

My dear Soca Warriors the central question is: Do you believe in the power of true Trini blood? Regardless of the many detractors who preach race, and the dogma of “Mother India” and “Mother Africa” and whatever, we stand proud and strong as one people, one blood, one goal (no five), the resolve to make it work despite the apparent psychological warfare. And despite the ramblings of the press about Bahrain’s tactics, or “selloutees,” we would not change our attitude to strike gold, we would not buckle under pressure, we would stand firm in our conviction to succeed, we would not be hesitant to “blow up the bridge” because we are not in the habit of retreating.  Our tour of duty is to clinically put away Bahrain, Nakhid or no Nakhid. We would rise to the occasion as fresh yeast, just as we rose from a single point to the position where we were able to win our second match against Mexico and quash Guatemala.  I saw the match and oh what a joy and relief.  I wish to extend my personal thanks to Leo Beenhakker (Beenie Man) and his technical team for helping to put us where we are at the moment.  As velcro, Jack Warner stuck with the Soca Warriors and his dream for Trinidad and Tobago is about to come true…my gratitude to you Mr. Warner.  You inspired me once in your history class at Northeastern College and I know that your style of inspiring people continues to be exemplary.  Thanks also for the support given by all the sponsors and the T&T government.  To win against Bahrain is so very important for our tiny T&T.

We have enough time to work out our strategies and to regroup.  We have enough time to counteract our weaknesses and play as true sportsmen.  Dear Soca Warriors, you all have lit the fires of success in the hearts of all Trinigonians at home and abroad.  We feel extremely proud of you.  Let not the malyeux (bad eye) and mauvais langue (evil speak) break your spirit, for we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against powers and principalities in high places.  We will not be saddled with the spirit of fear but we will conquer in the name of Trinidad, and we do know what “Trinidad” means.  Go with God!

As far as U-9, the govt could make this work using the round robin and knockout formats by county..... yes, yes we actually have those. There would have to be a U14 level as well. There could be a coach and assistant with a budget for each county as well with a committee for fund raising. It could work because we have to produce the Yorkes and Latapys from small. We have to plan and think outside the box.... we will always produce the talent but we're really indisciplined in many areas, both on and off the field...... administration, planning, defence.... we have a definitive exciting and unique style but to be effective at the top levels we must improve..... The infrastructure is being built at the top but again (what happens if the patron takes his marbles and runs) its static and not capable of withstanding dynamic and temporal changes. An infrastructure must be put in place that can confidently withstand the next 20 yrs and at the same time put something in place for the next 20 while going to WC2010......  :chilling:

Bahraini brothers, we don't have the right to come and open a thread in the T&T forum and say it's only for Bahrainis - we are visitors here and they set the rules not us. I would definitely say i want Bahrain to win away 1-0 or 2-0 , but Tribagonians are also free to say what they want.
I totally agree.

Emotional Intelligence

As Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) Soca Warriors lead up to these two crucial games against Bahrain on November 12 and 16, it is important that T&T administrators, coaches, players, T&T media, and supporters use emotional intelligence.  We have to concentrate on ourselves, and not be distracted by the recent psychological warfare by Bahrain.  We cannot worry about issues that we cannot control.  We should be concerned about what we can control, and that’s ourselves.  At this point, focusing on ourselves is a requisite.

According to Emerson, an organizational behavior theorist, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters as compared to what lies within us.”  In addition, John Maxwell, a renowned writer and speaker on leadership, states, “I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it.  And so it is with you – we are in charge of our attitudes.”  Whatever negative happenings have occurred within the last week, let’s turn them into positives.  Conflict is inevitable in our lives.  Conflict is not the problem; it is what we do with the conflict is the problem.

Despite the recent developments, I believe that Leo Beenhakker and his staff have remained unperturbed.  I spoke to Lincoln Phillips twice within the last week, and the central theme of our discussions was for us to stay unified and positive.  Regarding the players, I know they understand the history of 1973 and 1989.  This cannot happen again!  The job of the players is to prepare for the games physically, tactically, and psychologically with one aim in mind: victory.  Qualifying for the World Cup will be a historic moment for T&T, and its implications will be far reaching for the future of our country.

To T&T Soca Warriors fans, at this time, support is essential, be passionate, but try to refrain from negativity.  To all of us in the callaloo, administrators, players, coaches, T&T media, and supporters, it is imperative that we participate in emotional intelligence.

One goal - Germany!

Trevor Leiba

Really good, positive post...jus remember,

Change not Conflict is inevitable in our lives.

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters as compared to what lies within us.”  ...... kinda llike de gun wid a hair trigger.

We survived '73 and '89 so no doubt we'll survive 2006.... WC06 won't make us winners (we're already winners!!!) it'll just give the rest of the world another chance to see the sweetness and beauty that is TNT......  :chilling:
