Football / Re: U-20 USA v T&T: It's Not Supposed to Rain in Cyprus!
« on: September 18, 2009, 03:32:27 PM »
But, the most memorable moment of the game HAD to be when the T&T goalkeeper apparently just couldn't hold it in anymore ... he knelt down at the goal post and relieved himself while the ball was at the other end of the field. He had to stop to play a back pass, but resumed after sending the ball back upfield. Has this ever happened in a game before?? Unfortunately our attempt to capture the moment failed as our camera quick draw wasn't quick enough.

What kinda outta-timin move is dat dread??? where d ass dey find dat fella?

Yuh see when why yuh cyah give cobo sponge cake boy.
In an international warm up boy ?  The man ent expect it go have peeps with camera and thing.

Like the thread say.

Glen over Scotland, anyday, any week, any month and any year

Glen WAAAAAYYYY more hungry than KJ or Scotty.  Finally a real Trini forward again at last. Done with these stagnant British prototypes.  KJ was vex because Glen should have passed the ball to him and he right to be vex but on the other hand he should be just as vex with himself when he missing sitters.
KJ was stagnant? Stagnant mean "all over the pitch"? Or stagnant mean "doh run fast and beats"?

Stagnant as in if the ball doh come in a certain way he useless.  KJ could run all he want but he don't create.  So to me is like standing up.  It's not his fault really he isn't that kind of player and we don't have that kind of midfield to service the man.

It's not KJ role to create plays bro.

It's KJ's role to physically put pressure on de defence, hold up de ball so that others can join in the attack, provide flick ons etc for his attacking partner, and score when the opportunity presents itself.

For me...he performs his role pretty well.  Yes he depends on others to provide for him but it IS a team game.  Like you eh notice or appreciate de run KJ make dat pull defenders to de center of de park allowin Glen de opportunity to play one on one with his marker and score.

KJ makes a lot of those plays that go unnoticed and unappreciated.

Plus...you really think dem ES defenders happy when KJ on de park?  He is a handful and more sah.  A different kind of handful than Glen...but I would suspect that defenders would prefer to play against a Cornell Glen than a KJ if only because he doh dish out anywhere near the physical pounding KJ does.  And fuh 90 minutes at that.

I thought that Keston Williams did a bang up job in the first half, but got tired in the second half (good find)!
I think the young boy has a future, not going to cry him down as in some other threads, but he has potential. The #8 was bun like a dog de second half to bad and I thought he was going to come off!

Socapro i just have some questions for you, what was the high stand of Football our U20's played before Anton came to the team?the U20's playing badly or have a poor tournament but we blame the assistant Coach?how good were they before?who were they playing against? i always trying to figure out on here what are our criterias for rateing our national teams because on any given day i'm hearing a lot of positives/negative things about the same players and Coaches,it depends on who you ask,all i can say for sure is that everyone has their favourites/friends and no one looking at players or the game with an open mind so reports will be inconsistant.

My phylosophy in this game is that nothing is wrong with looseing a game once you learn from it,as a player/team your aim should always be to try not to repeat the same mistakes in your next game,i think that's how you improve, but we are making the same mistakes at all levels from administration all the way down and pointing fingers at each other when things go wrong. We just have to hope that these players take away some positives from this tournament because everyone will agree this is what we needed.

Coop's not sure what the team looking /playing like now .......but i was there for the qualifiers in COE where they played CR and this was a running team ...... capable of great things then. not sure how the the team fall away so badly whereas CR inprove so much.

not saying is the Assistant coach fault .... but there definitely has been a loss in form of this team

I agree, it was a unit that on the field had some unity in offense and defense and they played all there games ( except maybe for the last two), with HEART AND PRIDE!
I admired that in the young SW, now with all the additional training and top flight competition, seems to have regressed a bit and not sure why is that.

I might be the pessimist on the side, but I feel this team peak already under Vranes.  Me ent see nothing he doing different with this team since the Super League....although I admit they played some of their best football in the qualifiers.

I think you do have a point.

With all due respect to our local & domestic based coaches (Vranes as local as dey come...so too Fenwick), I believe they can only carry our teams so far and no further.  Our U 20 team has probably reached their peak in terms of what they can achieve as a team under the current coaching regime.  For them to TRULY progress, they may well need to be under the guidance and supervision of an experienced international coaching team.

It was true of the Strike Squad in 89....Gally took them as far as he could.

It was true of our U 20's in 89....Bertille took them as far as he could.

It manifested itself in our Soca Warriors of 2005....Beenie not only got them qualified for the World Cup, he made them competitive once there.

So don't be surprised if our U 20's emulate the performances of our other national team's performances at the World Cup level.  There are a lot of things against them one of which is a lack of coaching expertise at THIS level of the game.

As true as this sentiment probably is, I not ready to accept that this U-20 team can go no further. As far as I am concerned, this team is already ahead of those other teams you mentioned, as this current tour is providing them with way better preparation that any of the '89 teams had. At the very least they are getting first-hand a taste of the level they need to be at, and for once they getting it BEFORE the big dance. Will it make them world beaters? - Of course not. But will it give them an accurate yardstick as to where they need to be? - Most definitely. And as long as they strive for that level and work hard as a team to reach it, they can and will improve  :beermug:

I beg to differ about the part where you say Keon not easily bumped off the ball. In the US game, he did get some rough up.
It seemed that he and dempsey have ah beef going, they always exchanging words and gesturing like they want tuh fight.

I don't think the players throw the game away!

Look at it this way, a coach's skill is to utilize his players to the best of their god given ability and talent...for better or for worse! (Look what Beenie did with our side for 2006)!
It is the players responsibility to respond to said instructions, after the game against Panama at MR stadium, it was clearly evident to me that something was wrong with the team!
No sense or urgency, passion, fight and no willingness to increase the intensity level of play! That continued until the match against Honduras where the team played the dam game like ah fete match!
Maturana have to take blame.....so does de players!

My 2cents!

In one of my previous posts I said that Daniel needs to find a club.......QUICK! His skill is degressing to the detriment of the team! :-[
Sharpness, confidence, composure an don't forget his defensive frailties........is sorely lacking, he needs to bunch and play his more natural position,CM!
I wouldn't say that his skill is degressing but he is definetely not fit and it showed last night. he needs to find a club even if it is tobago united.

I beg to differ!

Remember when he scored the goals against Cuba etc., he was playing with confidence and composure.
Now he seems so unsure with de ball at his feet and because of that his defence is more showing more (or lack of).
He did share some nice toolum on one or two occasions ;D

That confidence only comes with playing regularly. What goin on with Daniel though, not even a pro league team lookin to sign him?

Boy only heavens know yes! :whistling: :whistling:

schupsss, edwards get pong on that left side, pacheco or nigel daniel over him anyday, edwards play real tata

Nah Controversial, de young fella played good, made one mistake but otherwise was solid!
Wolfe did not do to bad himself and I don't think we need to call back Dog.....as good as he is but Dog and Tallest need to play with some of the potential players in their position who not gettin call, i.e. JJ and Marshall!

Stern and Scotty played well...should have buried the few chances that they got but........!
Theobold=Pressure, he need not start another game.
Leon did ok...........nothing special and did not stand out. Carlos well.........was just Carlos! Talk done!
The defense...faddah dat is pressure! Aklie and Wolf played decent actually! The surprise was Tallest and Thomas and Thomas even more so. It showed tonight that he was extremely slow, like he had lead in he foot!

Ah need to take ah drink yes cause followin the SW does will yuh to do dat! :beermug:

Akeem Adams deserves a call at least.

Based on?

De MENS Senior team in de Hex.  Dat is de ultimate BIG MAN FOOTBALL.  Can he help de team RIGHT AWAY?

so why call bateau and others?

of that under 20 team, leston paul and akeem adams are the two best candidates to make the senior team especially whe our left back is akile edawars.

Which is why US scouts come down to watch de likes of Paul, & Bateau but NOT Adams.

Ah guess dat is also why Akile Edwards not only get WATCH but SIGNED by a MLS team.

I really doh understand de hate allyuh have fuh Akile Edwards but is allyuh perogative.

Tell dem Palos, tell dem!
Aklie go be worries in ah year or two.
Another standout on the U-20 was the #3, Gonzales who played sweeper at the back and read the game beautifully. The only disadvantage he has is his size, he is small for a CB, a la Juluis James!
