This very attractive tour is when you start contacting those (foreign-born players who are on the bubble, and capping them Haha cant think of any right now but there used to be a few! (See Bobby Zamora, Hoyte, Samuel pre-2010 as examples of players to target...the dual-citizenship player).

Also, these friendlies offer me hope that the new TTFA has somewhat of a clue.

Nick De Leon, John Bostock, Sheanon Williams, Daniel Carr, Kamani Hill, Gavin Hoyte, Hallam Hope among others.

Exactly! Thanks!

Kenwyne to score twice this weekend vs ManCity..i'm calling it!

65
Arlo white has very little commentating experience and, I think, no experience at all calling EPL. He also better be calling the game live and on location.

66
Well as it stands Liverpool level on points at the top of the table so is the best time of the season fuh me, lol. But seriously, it will be interesting to see what NBC's broadcast looks like. I'm definitely not excited at the prospect of Arlo White being lead commentator.

That I agree with you on 100%. Wish they could just simulcast the British broadcast.... I saw NBC's soccer daily show and it looks well done. The production value looks sweet.

67
Sigh..all I said was that its great to see European football on major network tv in the U.S. on this level. It was a simple post just happy to see a big step up for the game's visibility. Yes, Fox aired some games, but it wasnt on this level of publicity and visibility (even with NBC being once a week). That's all it was. There's no need to 'clarify' anything, or argue what I implied, or argue that this isn't a big deal. It's historic and will be great for the game. If you disagree, fine, but I couldn't see how anyone could see this as anything but a positive. I don't mind debating it but Fox wasn't a very good comparable; and does such a simple, positive topic, that most would agree is historic, have to be turned into a debate?

Fella who is debating?  Again, for there to be a "debate" there has to be disagreement.  I "clarified", "elaborated" on your post... whatever you want to call it, and you took umbrage at that.  Look thru this entire thread and you'll see several points where people express excitement at the thought that we getting football on 'free' or 'regular' TV... or implied that to be the case.  I clarified that point and yuh responded in a petulant manner, now yuh questioning why it turn into debate, lol.  Okay. :peace:

Aight, Im sure we're both just looking forward to watching the EPL this season. Should be fun.

68
But you haven't clarified anything. If anything, you've misinformed since Fox was very infrequently (and only recently at all) airing EPL matches on the main network.

The clarification is there for all to see, you just assumed that there was some kinda fight down and so yuh responded as though somebody shit in yuh cornflakes.  You mentioned "European league football on a major network" as though this was new, when in fact it wasn't.  The broadcasts weren't frequent, this is true, but often enough that those who follow the way the sport is marketed here in the US stood up and took notice.  Nothing new about it either... it goes back three/four seasons.

The more important clarification is that your post seemed to imply that the games would be on "NBC", when in fact the majority of games will be on NBC Universal... not a "major network".  In short, in terms of visibility for the sport, not much will change. The weekly broadcasts are a very good thing, as is availability of all the games... but most games will still be out of reach to the casual viewer.  That has to change in order for us to reall "see the sport growing".

HAHAHAHA you can't make this shit up!

70
That's been a very infrequent occurrence on Fox, and certainly not weekly; and if you understood the main difference between your point and mine then why even comment? Don't be contrarian just for the sake of it.

For me to be "contrarian" I would have to disagree with you. I am not disagreeing as much as I am clarifying your statement. Now I bunch yuh panty from yuh ass crack.

But you haven't clarified anything. If anything, you've misinformed since Fox was very infrequently (and only recently at all) airing EPL matches on the main network.

Yeah Storebay, the NBC lineup looks great! European league football on a major network! Love to see the sport growing!! Glory, glory ManUtd!

This itself isn't new... Fox has been showing EPL games (live and re-broadcasts) on their regular network channel for at least the past three seasons in the 4 o'clock slot on Sundays.  The main difference here is that NBC is committing to showing one game each week on their network channel.  The rest of games will be on NBC Universal... a cable/satellite channel, and via online streaming.

If international duty is a lot of football training with tough matches, then how can that set you back with League One preparations? If anything, you come back sharper and fitter.  He should be thankful he even got called up as he hasnt been playing anywhere and has been in poor shape.

Great vibes again for socawarriors.net. Well done T&T team, coach, management and TTFA. Flex must be de happiest man on the net. T&T football got a massive shot in the arm. Massive. Anything else we achieve is jess gravy and WAY surpassed the expectations of a cynical, fed up, and if I may say, waggonist public who seem to have expected only hopelessness with the oppressive Jackulito running the ship completely down and siphoning every last penny

Boy its been a long time since we've been able to celebrate a nice win and have some good vibes  :beermug:

It actually done accomplished its goal... thanks fuh playing.

I see what happened.  You think I don't believe Martinez is moving for Lawrence when the only part I'm skeptical about is the praise part at the end.

So wait......they finally recall birchall and somebody complaining?

Yuh ever thought that he probably came into a team (Port Vale) that had a good midfield?

1. They don't. In fact, they were struggling pretty badly up until recently.
2. Even if their midfield was good, Chris Birchall should still be able to break in to a Leauge 2 midfield and get some playing time.
3. My point is his move to Port Vale and subsequent lack of significant playing time can really damage his reputation and appeal to larger clubs.

I love Birchall. He's one of my favorite players, and he can help the TnT squad with his experience alone. But, its just the fact that he has played so little in such a long time-span that it sends the wrong message to others in the national team pool about earning your way into your club's first team and working hard to keep that spot.

Hes actually played in 5 matches including going the full 90 in Port Vale's last match.

http://int.soccerway.com/players/christopher-birchall/644/

And i believe that he has gone back to Port Vale for family reasons, last season before he signed with Columbus he wanted to sign with Port Vale but they had a transfer embargo placed on the team. However i do agree with you as much as i do like Birchall im not sure he should have been called up this time.

Ok I see he has only just started getting some minutes. But, even if its for family, his move to Port Vale can really hurt his reputation and make getting to a higher club difficult.

...and I should know better than to think theres logic behind a TTFF decision

Football / Chris Birchall Thread
« on: March 22, 2013, 10:45:09 AM »
Can someone please explain to me how Chris Birchall cannot get playing time, let alone a start at League Two Port Vale?? He has been there for a few months and I think has about a grand total of 1 appearance worth 10-15 mins. Port Vale has also been struggling mightily the past month, yet Birchall sees no action. I checked out the Port Vale board and many have suggested that Birchall is terribly out-of-shape.

I suppose a better question would be why did he go back to that division in the first place? Two years ago he helps LA win a championship, and last year he is a starter for Columbus. Could his agent not have gotten him a better stint/trial anywhere else? If Port Vale was chosen just for fitness then he's wasting his time riding the bench.

And yet an even better question is why is he called-up for the Belize and Peru matches? Unless your name is Yorke or Latapy and this is 10 years ago, NO ONE should be getting called up when they havent played a match in over 6 months.

What garbage. Declaring for bankruptcy doesnt mean you broke. Friedel, for instance, filed for banlruptcy because his soccer academy was broke and wanted to restructure his financing.

84
Kazakhstan, Vietnam, India, Finland....this bullshit has to stop! Enough with whoring our players out to absolute dead-end places. They can get better offers elsewhere. I'm really tired of reading that another one of our youngsters has been effectively put out to pasture (footballing-wise) half way across the world so that some dickhead agent can get a fee!
