After suffering such acute embarrassment, Wigan's players will now personally refund the admission price paid by every Latics supporter who attended the game in North London.

I wanted to know, if yuh speak another language besides English or Spanish, how long did it take you to learn and what is the fastest way to reach conversational level.

No specific language in particular; but ideally I'd like to hear about those very foreign to ours

I not into the audio books or dvds or the long stretched out college/university courses (although I feel this is prob best in terms of thorough-ness)...anybody ever do an immersion program? what are those like.

kids makin kids.

yeah and their own mother condemming them to a life of limitation and disadvantage

It is, I have noticed, mostly the mothers/women who perpetuate these traditional practices. They went through it themselves, it is what they know so they remain in an infantile state in this facet of their life thinking it is acceptable

Can an 11-year-old really raise a child? Is a tradition of young motherhood acceptable? Should these girls be receiving more sex education?

Football / Re: The best dribbler in the history of football
« on: November 03, 2009, 01:08:39 AM »

Lil side story, the best dribbler I ever see live on TV or otherwise was a fella in school we used to call rabbit (because of his 2 overgrown front teeth)
The man used to dribble during small goal in the courtyard like he was a football harlem globe trotter, talk about skills , he was short and had a real low centre of gravity. He was also from Belmont .
The man even make QRC first eleven in 4th form (a big achievement at that time).
One day he dribbling about 6 men at the same time and went down real low a man clip he ankles and he fall over hard on the pitch and lose one of the front teeth.
After that he was not the same , I suppose he lose his sense of balance.
We also start calling him bottle opener after that.

Wow, this brought tears to my eyes. Hail the human spirit!!

For real. Impossible is nothing.

The striking thing about this is how far the young man went to follow his vision. It takes great faith and courage to persevere and go beyond in the face of scarcity and social ostacism.

Football / Re: Marlon King questioned about alleged assault on woman
« on: October 29, 2009, 06:19:56 PM »
I wonder what responsibility the club feels in this whole fiasco.

These clubs take young guys, pay them huge salaries and throw them into a public spotlight probably without much consideration to their backgrounds, and the potential effects that such high profile living could have on their behavior.  I'm not saying that King is justified in anything that he has done, but I wonder if these football clubs that turn boys into men over night feel any mentorship responsibility...

These clubs "own" the players, and in many ways shape their lives...they should probably consider owning more aspects of a football player than his ability to kick a ball....

There will be other strikers that will remind us of Larsson, but never another. Best wishes to a class act and a tremendous footballer.
