Football / Petrotrin's Brazilian Coach Salary
« on: March 30, 2009, 01:18:12 PM »
I was informed that the Brazilian coach of Petrotrin's proleague team is being paid 15,000 to 18,000 US a month.  His salary is very result oriented and his paypacket could skyrocket if we win the league or qualify for the Concacaf Champions league.

Petrotrin has a vision to reach the heights that Joe Public reach last season with the goal of getting the company's name out a little more in the North and Central American region.

The team has been set some really lofty goals by the board and have given the resources to do it.  Hence the reason why they went for some seasoned players to get some "quick" success.

Football / Whitley and Gray find new club
« on: February 19, 2009, 06:23:09 AM »
There was a friendly match between United Petrotrin and the National U 20s at the PLC ground in Petrotrin on Tuesday evening.

The game ended 2-1 in favor of UPFC.  The U 20s showed some very good touches and played some very attractive and constructive football but were undone by a late penalty in the match.

The highlight of the day, however, was the presence of Petrotrin's new signings....Cyd Gray and Aurtis Whitley.

lol

Welcome to the Petrotrin family fellas........lets see if we going and sign Dwarika now!!

Football / English FA Cup quarterfinal draw.......much in store for Swansea
« on: February 15, 2009, 04:41:36 PM »
www.skysports.com

Manchester United's reward for beating Derby County is a quarter-final away tie at either Swansea City or Fulham, while Everton will play either West Ham or Middlesbrough at Goodison Park following their impressive win over Aston Villa earlier on Sunday.

Everton were highly impressive as they claimed a 3-1 victory over Villa and while David Moyes has played down talk of cup glory, a home tie in the quarter-final will surely encourage the Scot.

United always had too much for Derby at Pride Park and a 4-1 victory will only boost growing confidence at Old Trafford, as Sir Alex Ferguson's side continue to chase five trophies.

A day of stalemates on Saturday saw only Chelsea book safe passage to the competition's last eight, via a 3-1 win at Watford, and Guus Hiddink's side will now play away from Stamford Bridge against either Blackburn or Coventry, who drew 2-2.

The Sky Blues were just moments away from winning at Ewood Park but Christopher Samba's injury-time goal saw Rovers claim a 2-2 draw.

Chelsea beat Blackburn in the semi-final en route to their cup triumph two years ago with Michael Ballack scoring the winner in extra-time.

Arsenal play a fourth round replay against Cardiff City at Emirates Stadium on Monday, and should they win through Burnley await in the fifth round.

The winner of that tie will play either Sheffield United or Hull City, who could not be separated at Bramall Lane on Saturday, at the quarter-final stage.

FA Cup quarter-final draw:

Blackburn or Coventry v Chelsea

Swansea or Fulham v Manchester United

Cardiff/Arsenal or Burnley v Sheffield United or Hull City

Everton v West Ham or Middlesbrough

Ties to be played on the weekend of March 7-8.

« on: February 12, 2009, 11:43:07 AM »
I was just wondering what can be done in the aftermath of the crowd violence that we faced in El Salvador!!

Our players couldnt even take proper corners and throw ins since the fans were throwing bottles and other debris on the field.

Do we have any redress? What action can be taken? Fine? Ban? Loss of match by default ;D?

Football / Sunderland defender: Sbragia is easier to talk to than Keane
« on: December 17, 2008, 05:17:49 AM »
Signs of tension in the dressing room under keane's reign perhaps?

www.sunderlandecho.com

Caretaker boss Ricky Sbragia has got Sunderland in a relaxed mood, despite the fact they remain in the relegation zone.
And defender Danny Collins says the fact Sbragia is easy to communicate with has also eased tension in the camp about their precarious league position.

Sunderland's board continues its search for a permanent successor to Roy Keane, who resigned on December 4 after 100 games in charge.

Ex-Spurs boss Martin Jol has been the latest to rule himself out of contention for the hot seat from a grow list at the bookmakers.

But the Black Cats are happy that the club is in a safe pair of hands with Sbragia – who says he has not applied for the job but has also not said directly that he doesn't want it – and Saturday's 4-0 win over West Brom has bought chairman Niall Quinn and his directors more time to conduct the recruitment process.

Collins insists the players have responded to Keane's departure in the only way they could, by trying to keep their minds on the games and working hard for Sbragia and each other.

He said: "It was a bit strange for the first couple of days after the gaffer left, but we're here to play football and with the position we're in we had to get focused on the matches.

"I'm not going to say anything bad about Roy Keane but maybe now he's gone, because the lads find Ricky a bit easier to communicate with, perhaps we've been able to relax a bit more in training and in and around the training ground.

"With the league position we're in, we need that. Ricky's good. He has a bit of crack with the lads and has lifted morale when it was needed.

"There are three or four lads in the changing room who are quite vocal and we've had a few meetings between ourselves to say a few things.

"We're putting that extra bit in training. In my personal opinion, when the gaffer (Keane) was here, lads put a bit more into training, but if he wasn't it was a bit more relaxed out there."

Quinn's decision to include Dwight Yorke as an assistant to caretaker boss Sbragia and experienced coach Neil Bailey is also paying dividends, reckons Collins.

"Yorkie's is a bit of a character has a laugh with the lads, but he's done his coaching badges and will be looking to go into that side of things in the next one or two years. I think it will work out well for him as well working alongside Ricky."

Sunderland seemed have a bit more luck go for them against West Brom at the weekend.

So many times this season, the woodwork has come to the rescue of their opponents, but that changed against the Baggies when Andy Reid's effort rebounded kindly off the post for Kenwyne Jones to net his and Sunderland's second of the game.

A clean sheet – only their third of the season – was also a boost for confidence going into the festive programme, even though it came against the Premier League's lowest scorers.

Collins added: "I'm not one who goes on about luck. We're perhaps due a bit of it – one or two penalty decisions might have gone for us – but you just get on with it.

"Games come thick and fast at this time of the year and it's great if you're winning because you're on a roll and looking forward to the games. Hopefully that will be the case for us."

Football / TT - 3 St Kitts - 1 - match assessment
« on: November 08, 2008, 06:17:56 AM »
nb: imagine on the score board have "ts kitts".....lol. Me and Patriot real crack up on that.  Plus Small Mag had a chance to win ah $1000 and make daddy proud at half time but he only scored 1/3 from the half line....lol,He still get ah "rub up" from the digicel girls.

Marvin Phillip - 6.5 - didnt have much to do, but didnt show great confidence in doing it either.  He was very good with the ball chest high, but coming for cross balls leaves alot to be desired.  He made a very good save before the goal.

Avery John - 5.5 - Looked out of form.  He used his speed well to cover their wing men, but he had no choice in doing it since at times he was woefully out of position.

Julius James - 8 - Very solid at the back. He showed great confidence on the ball and looked a good passer.  I cannot see Makan Hislop starting in front of him again.  (smile movant, smile......lol)

Makan Hislop - 6.5 - Most strikers would like to see a defender with the ball at his feet like this.  He links with his fellow defenders and holds a line well, but that is as good as it gets.

Cyd Gray - 9 - Excellent game, especially in the first half. He ran down the wing and sent in quite a few cross balls in the box and he covered his position at the back.

Arnold Dwarika - 5 - One bird doh make ah summer! He played the opposite to what he did on wednesday.   Didnt offer much, didnt add much.  Tried to penetrate but his passing was off.

Aurtis Whitley - 5.5 - Put in a few good tackles, but this is still not the whitley of old.  He chased shadows on many ocassions, and he ddint show the kind of leadership that we know that he can.

Khaleem Hyland - 5 - What is wrong with him? Everyone knows that i see him as our next star player, but he is losing his way.  This shows the importance of playing competitive football, week in week out.  He offered nothing outside of his goal.

Keon Daniel - 8.5 - Daniel is separating and distinguishing himself from this level and that is a really good thing.  His strength on the ball is very good and his composure tonight was excellent.  He scored a very good volley and had another shot crash off the crossbar! He just need to be more defensively aware.

Andre Tousaint - 6.5 - Ah get bawl up in the crowd for this, but i dont think "mouthfull" is a striker.  He is not clinical enough.  He kicked straight at the keeper on two ocassions with no pressure, and this is not the first time he did that.  He has excellent/clever passing skills and he made some intellegent runs.

Scott Sealey - 6 - Had a great effort in the first half that was saved.  To be frank, he was average.  He tried to make runs from behind the defense but he was just too slow and was easily caught.  I am sure he would have buried the chances that fell to mouthfull.

Lester Peltier - 7 - After a shakey start, he was very encouraging.  Got past his man on the wing on quite a few ocassions and put some balls in the box.  he is no Hayden Tinto, but he can be effective.

Cornell Glen - 4 - He was the goat of the night.  I understand the need for strikers to go for goal, but he did it on two ocassions at acute angles with men open by the penalty box.  He also missed the "chance of the century" after he was played in by peltier.  Open goal, no keeper, six yard box..........ball in de stands.  Went off injured with 10 mins to go.

Devon Jorsling - no assessment.......too little time on de field.

ah love it!!

Football / Squad named for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Squad named for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
...Recalls for Birchall, John, Samuel, Ince.
By: Shaun Fuentes (TTFF).

National Senior Team head coach Francisco Maturana has finalized a 22-man squad for this country’s upcoming two World Cup Qualifying matches against Guatemala on October 11 in Guatemala City and United States at the Hasely Crawford Stadium four days later.

And included in the list are recalled Southampton striker Stern John and Coventry City midfielder Chris Birchall as well as Scottish-based St Johnstone winger Collin Samuel and Walsall goalkeeper Clayton Ince.

The upcoming encounters, which will be preceded by a friendly international against Dominican Republic at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on October 8, will also see the duo of Russell Latapy and Dwight Yorke in the team. Latapy was this week appointed as player/coach and has been named in the 22-man roster. ‘Latas’ along with all the other overseas-based players will join the home-based players in a live-in camp at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on October 6 prior to the match against the Dominican Republic.

The rest of the squad for the two includes Sunderland winger Carlos Edwards, Cornell Glen, Khaleem Hyland, Julius James, Avery John, Andre Toussaint and Darryl Roberts among others. Midfielder Aurtis Whitley and Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones have not been included as both players are still somewhat off full recoveries from their respective injuries.

The T&T team will depart for Guatemala City on October 9, spend one day there before the match on October 11. The players and coaching staff will return to Port of Spain immediately following the match on a charter flight.

TTFF Special Advisor Jack Warner announced that His Excellency President George Maxwell Richards has accepted an invitation to travel to Guatemala City on the charter along with 120 fans to witness the encounter. That flight arrives there on the eve of the match.

“We can confirm that the selected players will be in the team for the upcoming matches. As a matter of fact the entire squad will be here from October 6 to settle together, play the game against Dominican Republic and then head off to Guatemala City. It was felt that the best option was to remain here and have the team prepare for the game and then go to Guatemala no more than a day or two before the match itself,” Warner told TTFF Media on Tuesday.

“We have also arranged for the charter which will carry the President of the Republic as well as the TTFF President Oliver Camps and a group of fans to witness the game and then return with the team that same night,” added Warner who will arrive in Guatemala from Nigeria where he is scheduled to head a FIFA inspection visit in relation to the 2009 FIFA Under 17 World Championship.

The match officials for T&T vs Guatemala are as follows: Referee – Mauricio Navarro (Canada), Assistant 1 - Hector Vergara (Canada) and Assistant 2 – Darren Clark (Canada). The match commissioner is Dave Fredericks from the Cayman Islands and Jamaican Peter Prenderast is the referee assessor. For the T&T/USA match, Costa Rican Walter Quesada is the match referee with Honduras’ Roberto Giron and Costa Rica’s Oswaldo Luna to serve as the assistants.

The T&T/Guatemala encounter will also be aired live on CNMG Channel 6 as well as on Radio 105 FM and I95.5FM
In related news, in their latest attempt to secure the full time services of Hyland,  Portsmouth are sending  him to Belgian 'partner club' S.V. Zulte Waregem while he waits for a work permit.

The 19-year-old will travel to Belgium on Wednesday and is expected to play there until he obtains the proper documentation to allow him to play professionally in England. The highly-rated youngster needs to be playing and Pompey hope he can settle in Belgium and have his case reviewed at the end of the season, one report stated on Sunday.

Football / Why the Jabloteh fight down?
« on: September 20, 2008, 12:30:06 PM »
I watched the two games yesterday in the Manny Ranjohn yesterday and i was so ashamed to see the blatant biasness against jabloteh.

It was beyond obvious.

From the sending off of Jerel Forbes early in the match, to the signaling of only 1 minute of added on time at the end of the game when at least 4 Joe Public players went down in time wasting tactics and had to be stretchered off in the second half.

Plus, the play of Trent Noel was more than good enough for him to be in the National Team.  If Maturana could pick Theobald, Leon, and even my boy Hyland, then he could pick Noel who is at the level of Whitley.

Something really bad happening there and it messing up we football.

After that outburst from Sam, i feel the need to come out and say thanks to a man who has done more than his share in putting Trinidad and Tobago on the map.

Sam disappointed me greatly.  Ato is a professional and he was just doing his job.  He is being paid by NBC to give his analysis on an event.  Sam getting on like if the Trinidad and Tobago tourism board send Ato on a "promote TnT" mission.

I am a Trini to the bone, not just a little pretender who feels ah lil ego rush when his country's name is mentioned.  I know that Ato is one too and i appreciate the work that Ato still does with our nations youth with his many motivational speeches in our secondary schools.

Thanks Ato for giving your insight on the many happenings of the T&F world on this little website.  Your opinions are respected and u proved that once again with being spot on with many of your Olympic predictions.

I am happy that you didnt get yourself caught up in that "sam" thread cause some people always prefer to pull down rather than praise.

Football / Question???
« on: July 31, 2008, 06:42:46 PM »
If the team is as bad as we like to believe, then how come El Salvador (twice), Jamaica (twice), Haiti, Barbados, Netherland Antilies, Guyana, Bermuda, Grenada aint beat us.

How come the only team to score against us were England, Jamaica and Bermuda.

Haiti, Guyana, Grenada Netherland Antillies, El Salvador (twice) Barbados etc aint score against us.

nb: i put bermuda in because we beat them 3-2 overall on aggregate!!

How come the only team to beat us this year is England.

I am not saying that the team is playing well, and i am not saying that the coaching staff is gettingit right, but it cant be all bad if we are not losing!!

also, i know that we have not been playing against very strong opposition, but someting has to be going right if the team is winning.

Football / Season Shape up - Sunderland
« on: July 07, 2008, 07:50:07 AM »
Wise men say only fools rush in, and Sunderland boss Roy Keane has clearly learned from his transfer market haste in previous seasons. Rob Parrish looks at how the Black Cats are shaping up for the new Premier League campaign.

What's happened so far

Keane has vowed to bide his time as he plans to re-shape his playing staff at the Stadium of Light, having admitted he spent far too much of last summer on the phone chasing players, agents and elusive deals.

While there have been no new faces as yet at the Stadium of Light, Keane wasted little time in holding the exit door wide open and swiftly ushering out a selection of squad members who he felt had nothing left to offer the club.

Andy Cole, Ian Harte, Stephen Wright and Stanislav Varga were told their services were no longer required in early June, while Greg Halford has signed a season-long loan deal with Sheffield United and reserve goalkeeper Marton Fulop looks set to join Stoke.

Transfer-listed Ross Wallace has rejected the chance to join Preston, with Graham Kavanagh, Liam Miller and David Connolly all told that they are surplus to requirements.

In truth, the players who have already departed and those who Keane is hoping to off-load contributed little to Sunderland's survival last season and were unlikely to help the North East outfit consolidate their position in the Premier League.

Chairman Niall Quinn and the Drumaville consortium he heads are eager to establish Sunderland among England's elite and Keane, who enjoyed a trophy-laden career as a player with Manchester United, will not settle for scrapping against relegation on a regular basis.

To that end, a striker tops the list of his summer requirements, with Tottenham's Darren Bent being regularly mentioned as a £10million target after failing to make any impact at White Hart Lane, while West Ham forward Carlton Cole and Sheffield United's James Beattie has also been mentioned.

Serious concerns over powerful forward Kenwyne Jones' fitness, with a full prognosis on his injured knee ligaments still to be released, have increased the urgency for more fire-power on Wearside.

Talented defender Jonny Evans enjoyed a second impressive loan spell at the Stadium of Light and Keane has made no secret of his desire to bring back the Manchester United youngster to bolster his back-line.

A host of Irish players - Stephen Hunt, Kevin Doyle, Stephen Ireland, Damian Duff, Aiden McGeady and Richard Dunne - have all been linked with compatriots Quinn and Keane, and it would be no surprise to see at least one of those names in red and white by August.

What they need
In a word, goals. The Black Cats averaged under a goal per game in the Premier League last season, and that shortage of fire-power contributed heavily to them being embroiled in the relegation fight.

If, as seems likely, Jones is ruled out for an extended period of time, then that would remove their key striking threat and make the summer signing of at least one forward absolutely essential.

Greater creativity would be welcomed, but if Kieran Richardson and Carlos Edwards can stay fit after missing large chunks of last term through injury then it may not be necessary to dip into the transfer market.

The January arrival of Evans from Old Trafford provided essential defensive stability and his return would enable Black Cats fans to fret less over who will be protecting Scotland international Craig Gordon in goal.

What they'll get

Bent and Cole are realistic targets for Sunderland but whether they - and their respective WAGs - can be persuaded to trade in Oxford Street and Harvey Nichols for The Bridges and Joplins remains to be seen.

Beattie is likely to be tempted by a top-flight return, but the Black Cats may baulk at the reported £8million asking price for the one-time England international.

Having proved his talents in the Premier League, Evans may be keen to fight for a first-team place at Old Trafford, but with Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Mikael Silvestre and Wes Brown all in his way, regular action in the North East, even for another season on loan, may appeal.

Hunt has made no secret of the fact that he would rather be plying his trade in the Premier League next season, and Keane is unlikely to be put off by the fact that he had a number of bids for the Republic of Ireland international rejected in the summer.

Football / TTFF, Proleague and the HCS
« on: July 02, 2008, 11:47:13 AM »
I have a question that i hope would be answered by someone who is in tune with the affairs of the Haysley Carwford Stadium.

As far as i know, the minister stated that they are trying to make the HCS into a professionally run venue hence the reason for the hike in rental fees for events and the renovations that were done.

If i am correct, this pay structure currently stands at 150,000 or 10% of the gate, which ever is greater.

If that is the case, how is it that were are able to host so many PFL games there?

Football / How good is our blacklist?
« on: June 28, 2008, 07:14:38 AM »
Everyday i listen carefully to the posters on this site that talk about the blacklisted players.  But i have a question that i dare the members of this site to answer honestly.

How good is our blacklist?

As far as i see it, only Sancho, Cyd Gray Avery John and Birchall can comand a place in an eighteen man squad.

Whose place can Theobald take?  Do u really think that Theobald is playing out of his skin in the ProLeague to command a place in front of Whitley and Hyland in the centre of our midfield?

And Cornel Glen? Forget the past.......how is he playing now? Is he good enough to put Stern, Scotty, Roberts and even Forbes (who has been playing really well in the PFL) on the bench?

Even Birchall aint sure to start in that midfield, but i think he can add some grit and backbone in the middle, especially in training.

Where are the performances to back up our arguments?

Our backline is very weak.  That is why Avery, Sancho and Cyd can almost walk into our side.  However, even though they might be better than what we are using at the moment, how good are they if we looking at the big picture if we want to consider coming up against Guat, Cuba and Usa?

I see people only throwing names up, talking about Kelvin Jack and Silvio Spann. but how good are they?

Is Spann (who has fallen off the radar so badly) our midfield savior?  What about Samuel?  Do we still want to play him on the memory of that Iceland game?

Is kelvin 'butter fingers' Jack that much better than Marvin 'loose screw'  Phillip?  or even Micheal 'bad positioning' Jan 'hesitant' Williams? (he need two nicknames for that long name).  I say no!! Phillips is our best goalkeeper and blacklist or no blacklist, that will not change!!

As far as i see, we only have a case for our wing backs and maybe a centre back to replace hislop (he is learning quickly but i would prefer either sancho or julius james)

Other than that, dont expect any set of different results when the banned list is officially reinstated.

ah love it!!

« on: June 09, 2008, 06:32:43 AM »
I know people might say that i looking too far ahead, but i just wondering how competitive the hex might turn out to be WHEN we make it.

In semi final grounp, we should have a fight with USA, CUBA, and GUATEMALA

Jamaica has a tougher time than us with CANADA, HOUNDURAS, and MEXICO.

While the third group will most likely be COSTA RICA, GUYANA, PANAMA and HAITI.

So, with a final round of

Mexico
United States
Costa Rica
Honduras/Jamaica/Canada
Trinidad and Tobago (palos, i improving...lol)
Haiti

How good do u think our chances are?

I feel it for the teams in group B, since each one of them are good enough for the HEX!!

That third spot is going to be really tough!!

The match days for the semi final round are as follows

20 August 2008
6 September 2008
10 September 2008
11 October 2008
15 October 2008
19 November 2008

This has not been confirmed, but i was told last night by a friend of mine within the TTFF ranks at the game that Kenwyne has ruptured his MCL and ACL and will be out for 6-7 months.

Sunderland has two options, rehabilitation work only and he would be out for 2 months or surgery and he will be out for 6-7 months.

The source is as good as gold.

ah love it!!

mach report TT-1 JAM/referee - 1

What a game that was!  The two big dogs of the caribbean squaring off to decide who is better than who.

First of all, Jack Warner missed a great opportunity.  He missed a chance to reward some of the true supporters of the national team.   I know that there are some die hards who missed this game, but still, I can guarantee you that no waggonists were at the marvin lee stadium (MLS).

I take some serious chain up from my pardner gary (who tallman once renamed "gary de baraini"...lol) and left south real early (missing the second half of portugal vs turkey) cause we "tort" that parking would be real trouble at the MLS.  We reach up there about half past four and realise that we had made ah mistake.

The uncovered section was ah mess and we in time to see men still pounding nail on some plyboard to make benches (mobile stand my arse).....lol.  After doing a thorough examination of the uncovered secion, Gary and I watch each other and swallowed a large gulp of saliva and decided to move to the covered section.

$300 of my hard earned cash straight into jack warner bank account and we inside.  The turf look good, the covered section looked nice, the carib girl were dancing, the laventille rhythm section was jamming and the teams started to warm up on the field.

Bounce up dcs, g, Big Mag and Small Mag inside as the teams were announced.

Trinidad started with a 4-5-1.  Ince in goal, Lawarence, Smith, Hislop and Adams at the back, Telesford, Hyland, Whitley, Daniel and Edwards in the middle and Scotland in front.

From the start I realise that Trinidad experimenting with Hyland on the left side, Edwards on the right, Whitley and Telesford holding and Daniel as the attacking midfielder.

The first 10-15 minutes of the game was nothing to talk about as the two teams looked evenly matched as they tried to knock the ball around.

As the game continued, we realised that Jamaica played with 12 men on the field.  I aint care who vex, but that is the worst piece of blatant bias thiefery i ever see in my life.  My goodness!!

Whitley get hack down by the half line, no card, 5 minutes later, Hislop tackle and get the ball and then the man, instant yellow.  All the 50-50 calls were transformed into 90-10 calls in favor of the jammies.

All this against us and we still matching them stride for stride.

Bright sunshine in the sky and Gary (who i start tuh call robin maharaj) only talking about rain coming.  But poor andre, who aint know much about the MLS, start tuh feel sorry for the people in the uncovered section.

Shrawwww, and the rain reach, but i realise that i getting wet.  Yes folks is wet ah getting in de covered stands.  The spartan in me come out and I start tuh bawl "hold de line, hold de line", but man start tuh run for cover.

Meanwhile, Mr Carlos 'starboy' Edwards was having a game to forget.  Bad pass after bad pass and Ricardo Gardner have him under serious manners.  He was the worst player on the pitch for us today.

Hyland and Whitley, on the other hand, were linking very well together.  It was this combination (after hyland switched with Daniel) that gave TT our first goal.  Nice passing on top the box left Hyland free and he calmly used his left foot to place the ball into the back of the net from just outside the box.

Wine and jam start, and everything on the carib girls was bouncing up and down.  We had few anxious moments at the back with Marlon King using his strength to good effect on Hislop but the half ended up with us leading one nil.

Second half start and the warriors started to play a counter attacking game giving the jamaicans alot of possession.  At times the jamaicans passed the ball well and if they got a shot off, and ince got close to it, (whether or not he touched it) it was a corner coutesy de thiefing referee.

It was this counter attacking game that made carlos look worse.  I still waiting for him to take on a jamaican defender.  Imagine he crossed the ball into the box to no one rather than going down the byline.

Due to their increased possession, the jamaicans were getting closer and closer to our goal, but ince was solid and marlon king was trying hard to mash up somebody car wind screen outside the stadium cause he only kicking the ball high and wide.

The warriors had chances too, with Hyland's left footed rocket going just wide.  We also scored a legitmate second goal, but the referee called it offside even though it clearly wasnt!! But all in all we played too deep in the second half.

Lawerance also show dat he still have some soldier in him when Whitley get heself in some trouble with about 3 jamaicans who surrounded him.

Whitley start tuh get some small push, but Lawerance and he long legs jump in like ah super hero and start to push down jammys like if he was Whitley body guard.......lol.

It was however, a moment of brilliance from Hyland that "caused" the jamaican equalizer.   Hyland got the ball from throw on the left side, screen the player like stern john, hit him ah stern turn and speed down the left side.  He evaded one tackle, reached the byline, and then he crossed the ball into the jamaican box only for it to be slid out of play for a corner......or so we thought!!

Lawerance and company done start to come forward for the corner when the referee say it is ah goal kick.  Hyland start tuh protest, and the jamaicans took the goal kick.  Burton play shelton into the box and shelton throw himself into Ince and the referee call ah penalty.

The whole warrior team surround the referee but he couldnt care less cause his bread was done buttered by the jamaican FA!!

Shelton score the penalty and the game was over.  Simoes come to shake Maturana hand and the columbian steups at him......lol.  Simoes start to beg for friends and say is not his fault and put his hand around our coach but Maturana was having none of it.

All in all, referee put aside, 1-1 was a fair result for two caribbean teams who have a realistic chance of making it to South Africa in 2010.

Player Ratings

Ince - 9 - Great come back game today, positioned himself well and showed why he is still out number one.

Smith - 6.5 - Not a bad performance, but not a great one either, but fairly solid none the less.

Lawerance - 8 - He was an added level of composure to our defence, also saved Whitley from getting beat up....lol.

Adams - 5.5 - Caught in possesion plenty times and ball watched too much as well.

Hislop - 7 - Needs a little muscle, but reads the game well.

Telesford - 6 - Played a better game against England but protected the defence well.  He is too quick to go to ground and often got left out.

Edwards - 4.5 - Contributed nothing today.

Whitley - 8.5 - Solid as usual, he really has stepped up his game and is showing himself as a leader.

Daniel - 7 - Didnt get any chances to show his dead ball prowess, but he had a fairly ok game playing behind scotty

Hyland - 9 - Still has to work on his off the ball game, but when he has the ball, he is a gem.  Scored a well taken goal.

Scotland - 6 - Showed that he doesnt have an automatic place on the team.  Work rate was low.

The subs only came on after about 75 mins so i really aint get much time to asses them!!

We going and hit Bermuda about 5!!

ah love it!!

Football / Fuentes to Sunderland: Trust us with Kenwyne!!

Trinidad and Tobago today promised Sunderland: "You can trust us with Kenwyne Jones."

The Black Cats' £6million striker is still recovering from suffering a broken arm in his club's end of season loss at home to Arsenal only 12 days ago.

But T&T are desperate for him to play in their showpiece friendly with England on June 1.

Despite Jones's importance to his country, T&T spokesman Shaun Fuentes said it would be madness to risk the 23-year-old star making his injury worse.

Fuentes said: "Kenwyne's been here in Trinidad for a few days catching up with his friends and family.

"He's enjoying chilling out after a tough season but I think he wants to play against England and we would like him to play some part.

"The first day of our training camp is tomorrow and Kenwyne won't be involved in that.

"We will properly assess his injury and make a careful decision in due course.

"But Sunderland can be confident we won't take any risk with Kenwyne. He's our biggest star right now – an important player for us.

"We have World Cup qualifiers against Bermuda after the England game and it is important for us to have Kenwyne fit."

Sunderland winger Carlos Edwards is also in the Soca Warriors' squad to play England and should join Jones against England.

Fuentes added: "Some arrangement will be made for Kenwyne to play against England wearing a light cast if that's necessary.

"But I think he has indicated it may be possible that, depending on how well the injury heals, he could probably go without the cast.

"It will be great to have Carlos back too. Our coach Franc Maturana has not had much of a chance to see these guys for himself so this is going to be a great chance for the players and the coach.

"We know Carlos and Kenwyne are not only important for the national team but are definitely important to Sunderland as well.

"Our federation wants a strong working relationship with Sunderland and we don't want to make things harder in that relationship."

T&T met England in the last World Cup finals – the first the Soca Warriors had ever qualified for – but next Sunday's friendly is seen as a historic date.

"It is the biggest game ever to be staged in our country," added Fuentes. "The interest is huge. We sold out our 24,000 tickets in two days and if we had an extra 15,000 or 20,000 seats we could probably sell them, too."
