What about Track & Field / Re: 2007 NCAA Track & Field Indoor 200 clip

Yes that is one big strong girl no doubt but give it time...I have faith in Kelly Ann.  Remember too that Kelly Ann is not nearly as good at 200m - she has just started since last year to be world class at that distance.  In the 100 I will still pick Kelly Ann at NCAAs because of superior technique.  Outside lane in an iindoor 200 is a huge edge too.

Ato,

I aint too sure here. Recall that she won the 60m too.

Kelly-ann is a class sprinter, but Kerron is vastly improved this year and is on an Osaka program. To make the Jam team, she will have to be on top of her game.

For 2007, Kerron seems to be on top of her game.

Insularity killing us! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

The whole thing is just much of a muchness.

What I thought was pro-Jamaican and did not reflect the multi-island spirit that is the West Indies was the Jamaican PM's saying, "Welcome to Jamaica!" at the end of her speech.

That I can agree with.

She should have at least said welcome to the West Indies, even if she also said welcome to Jamaica.
No excuse for that.

Xavier Carter pulled off that 100/400 double last year at NCAAs and got 750,000 reasons to come out of school a year early from Nike.

And imagine the bonus he got for running 19.63  :o... I hope kelly and go under 11 seconds this season.. i  think she can beat stewart outdoors...

Man, the way Kerron running, even Sherone Simpson has to be scared.

I hope our entire female contingent stays healthy so we can roast the yanks in the relay.

Kerron to sherone to VC to either Facey, Foster, Brooks or Aleen Bailey. If they practice even the WR could be tested.

At war?

Not real war per se.

Just online daggers drawn over at the Zone.

It is stemming from the Katrina arguments (where he was blaming the victims) and continuing to the recent whooping of his bwoy Bush in the Nov. elections.

As I opposed him then and called him up on his rabid stance, he is holding a slight grudge and it is affecting even track conversations.

Let's face it he is a warped Bushie apologist and didnt take the Nov. licks well. Plus he is too yankee biased for me.

That would be quite convenient for wind to swirl in your face going out (the whole 100m backsttretch) and in your face coming in (the last 100m) too ent?  Make sense! It balances out, like I said!

I ran the 400 up until I retired whether in competition or in practice - so I know how the 400 and wind goes.  Also, when u refer to Growth Hormone, I ent ready to dead to win no race, sorry.  GH is illegal and one can be busted.  I will say it again.  There is no way to reduce it, any more than u can reduce your heart beaitng faster if u have to run a marathon - you train to cope with it.  It's like "curing" athlete's foot.  Doesn't happen, never mind what the ads say.  Show the study with the reduced lactic acid resuts, and I'll gladly stand corrected.

Ato Nuh bother with that.

U know me for years and you should know my stance on PEDs!!! I was just illustrating to that poster that I do know what I am talking about and GH, hCG etc do have LEGITIMATE medical uses. Legit companies provide them to legit patients for therapeutic reasons. There was no implication that you are any sprinter was using this, so dont even go there. I know you for years and your rep speaks for itself.

Having said that, the body does produce ENDOGENOUS GH and if starved of vital food nutrients, the production will be compromised and one will not be....all that one can be.

Now as to the lactic acid stuff, I DO have studies to prove it, but I will keep that on the downlow for the moment. There are natural, perfectly legal FOOD enhancements that can help. I am shocked that HSI has not yet discovered this. Remember, I am in the biotech space...so I do have contacts to top scientists.

I would help ya out, but I am at "war" with Smoke at the moment and wont do anything to help him this year. LoL

As for the wind, I agree that your explanation is the more "usual" occurance, but I was just saying that hypothetically the wind could have swirled and cuased a double whammy. 47 to 50s is certainly slow and I know you ran faster in college....

LOL A second or two?  U mad?

The wind was stiff at the end in the homestretch?  So which direction was it blowing when they were going down the backstretch?  Not behind them!!!???? :rotfl:

The reason why there is no such thing as a wind reading on anything over 200m is that whatever you get on one side of the track, you get the reverse on the opposite side, so it usually balances out. If you say they were told to blast out they would run faster than 47 and 50, trust me.  Asafa would run 46 at worst, and Brown at least 48.0.  I am sure they can both run sub 11 100's right now, no? so if they get to 200m in 22 and change why would it take another 28 seconds to get home??? Nah.

U can't reduce the buildup of lactic acid, I don't think, you can only train the body to run while under that kind of stress and pain. 300s and 400s are the way.

Ah see U having fun, Mr Senator.

Doh worry, I have a thick skin. LoL

The wind in Stadium East at this time of year tends to be swirling, so no guarantee that it balanced out from back stretch to home stretch. In a 50 second race (in  Jan) the wind can change direction several times. You were just there so maybe U know that.

Yes you CAN reduce the lactic acid buildup...that is a biochemical discovery that I just uncovered. All will common (and cheap) nutritional supplementation. I am gonna talk to Franno dem and let them in on that little secret to better handle the yanks. LoL

Frater, Safa and Darrell should benefit form this.

Come on Ato he obviously knows more than you.

I work in a biotech firm, so go on believing that I dont have world class biotech contacts. Notice Ato said he did not THINK so. He was not definitive for a reason. Ato knows where I am located unlike you.

Ever heard of recombinant GH, recombinant HcG, etc? I have.

I ran 45 splits all thru college and 47. low's in practice as a pro but that is not the point.  The point is that I would like to see more bravado and agression from these guys - it's a time trial! - that is why sprinters are made to run the 400....to be aggressive 'til you have nothing left, and then learn to "hold" when you are tired as hell.  That is a more severe version of what happens in the 100, because at 70-80m you are basically out of energy sources so all you have is form and technique.  The diff in the 400 is that you have created more lactic acid with more distance so it hurts like hell.

Let's see those 200s now, because that is the key to his 100 this year.  Asafa's 400 here means zero as well. If he runs 19.8 LOW or 19.7, he'll run a WR at 100m.  Simple as that.

Agreed, BUT, the wind in the last 100m was stiff as hell and that is why they were fighting to finish.
Knock a second or 2 off the time just for that. Additionally, I think the coach made them balst the first 300m and so forced them to have  lactic acid overload on the last 100 to get the effect that you described.

Ato, what did you guys do to reduce the lactic acid buildup during your tiI

...and who chose de name for dis forum ??? If you want to big up jamaicans etc. you have a right to do that . If i say that a more appropriate forum for that is reggaeboyz. com etc. I have a right to say that too. i just think that with such a star studded cast that a more appropriate forum should be in place for jamaican athletes ..dont you ?

What bigging up?

I just pointed out why it was appropriate for Triniman to post the original article on Asafa. I posted raw naked facts.

How I dont see the same reaction when articles about American athletes have been posted in the past??

What Reggaeboyz have to do with anything? Is this a Track forum or not?

I have a track forum and I can tell you that Trini Track articles are freely posted there.

TI,

You have a very poor opinion of Jakans and apparently you dont have a clue.

MVP is a business and are in the business of improving all their athletes, regardless of nationality.

Go check the history and U will see that "Jamaica" was not very kind to that group when they were starting out and were in need of help.

In any case, most Jamaicans will be cheering for DB AFTER our own of course, but we dont have a problem with him medalling. If by chance he is good enough for gold, well that still better than a yankee winning. LoL

breddah your probably one of the few yardmen other than some of my friends that think that way, believe it or not, most yardies rather see a US sprinter dey than we, truss meh, i have heard it loud and clear, as for mvp being a business i see your point, when you put it in that context i must agree with you, but at de same time yard is yard, trinidad is trinidad, ja men are as patriotic as us, some of de average yardmen are even more patriotic than the average trini..

Relax man. No way does even a more than 1% of Jakans would ever support a yank over DB. Yanks are our "unparalelled enemies" in TnF. No one else come close. Jakans tend to support Carib athletes and only the Bah comes close to not gettring our backing, due to their Carifta antics.

DB has tons of support from real Jam track fans ... long before he even went to MVP.

Go check out the Carib TnF site and you will see.

LOL.  I admire the man.  If I had the money he make this year beating everyone I wasn't buying that ishh Benz.

Got to love those humble Jamaicans

He got his priorities straight.

The money will be invested in businesses not in flashy, expensive toys. He does not want to end up like Mike Tyson. Its not how much you make, but how much you keep!

1075
Lance Brauman coaches Tyson Gay who had a breakthrough season this year he has a PB of 19.66  in the 200M and  PB 10.84  in the 100m. Last season i remember brown beat this guy easy  if burn could he should join this camp..
Braumann is in lots of legal hot water and is facing jail time. He also coaches Speamon, Veronica Campbell and Omar Brown. He was at Barton County Jr College and then went to Arkansas U.

I am not sure that he is in a position to continue, much less expand.

There is a shortage of Camps for sprinters.

Ato,

I dont know, as its years since I left Jam, but I imagine its more different than worse.

Food is different and petty crime may be worse. However, kidnapping etc, is almost non-existent and he will probably have an experience similar to a UWI student.

Trinis tend to be well treated in Jamaica, so there is no problem there.

The good part is that he may have less distractions, though Kingston is NOT  a small city and it is possible for him to still get caught up in the w(h)ine and dining life there like Bolt.

However, knowing Franno, it will NOT be permitted.

In any case, he will be there only half a year, as the rest will be in Italy at their Euro base and on the circuit, and he will be home plenty times for holidays.

1079
I hear that DB is gonna join up with Asafa, Frater and Waugh at MVP.

Burns is staying put.
