Football / Re: the way forward- the development method
« on: April 17, 2013, 12:12:13 PM »
FS, without addressing the financial aspect of Boca's offer ...  what were the structural elements they sought?

Basically, they want to extend their brand globally. Much like Arsenal, Chelsea etc in the UK, you pay a certain amount of money annually and get to use their brand. They give you support with training programmes etc. Also, they make their coaches available to fly over (at your cost, of course) and you can send players to Boca (again, at your cost).

So, basically, it's a marketing tool for Boca. I guess people may describe this as arrogance, but we believe that there is enough talent in T&T for clubs to pay us to be their source of young players. By that, I mean a true partnership where a club would pay for a couple of youngsters to go on trial in the UK. Maybe the UK club would pay an annual fee to Central in order to ring fence any talent from T&T. Instead of paying £8 million for the next Kenwyne, they could have him for free, by investing, say, £50,000 per year.

I believe clubs in T&T drastically undersell themselves. They start to believe the negativity of the "fans" that downplay the standard of our league. I truly believe that most Pro League clubs can hold their own against English League 1 and 2 clubs and several SPL clubs. Many of our players are good enough for Europe if only there was a way in. We need to start testing ourselves against English League 1 and 2 clubs to check our progress.

One area we lack greatly is the development of talented kids into quality adults. 14,15 and 16 year olds don't need fitness or matches, they need specific positional coaching to hone their natural ability and add in positional, tactical, transitional, visual awareness, together with respect for the game, themselves and their team mates, staff and match officials.

Our players have to scramble to far away leagues to earn decent bucks because there is no system to open up a "trade route" to the European market.

We have to hold fast and not take the first deal offered to us. We were also close to a deal with Celtic, but if the deal is not right for us, then we'll step back until a club meets our terms. I believe by the start of the 2013/14 season Central F.C. will have several overseas partners, on our terms.

Again, this is not arrogance, but believe we know our value and we won't sell ourselves short.

FS Boca already have a complete structure in place, including facilities, academy facility, stadium, a legendary history, a league at every level for players to develop and are the top in Argentina. Its a win win investment. Investors are investing to make money, there is a return on their investment

Football / Re: What is enough time to prepare teams.
« on: April 17, 2013, 12:02:31 PM »
We have developed a culture of blaming coaches. A product at U17, is the product of U8, U10, U12, U14 etc. in other words schools & clubs. Once selected to a National Team under the present lack of structure. What exist is an expectation of National coaches that is not realistic. It takes approximately 10 weeks of daily routine, to get a player into conditioning & then there is match fitness. You also need International games & games in general to build understanding & tactical understanding (assuming all technical elements are in place). The present coaches at a National level are being sent to a gun fight with a penknife. US with all their preparation did not make it, this is an exception rather than a rule, in exact proportion to us making it to an U17 WC. The difference is USA will be there in the future & we will continue to be hit and miss, with the wrong people being blamed over and over.

Let us put things into perspective and then draw a comparison, before the bitter criticism.

This Panama squad all attend the same school (30 players), from age 15. They train 5 days a week together & play on the weekend.
They have played 15 International games & possibly another 30+ games versus local semi & pro clubs, in the last year.

Now I ask you, quite frankly, what really are our expectations  ??? We buying canal cart & want it to run like Benz.

Football / Re: Johan Welch
« on: April 14, 2013, 02:09:55 PM »
I watched a Euro Nations Cup final some yrs ago between France and Spain. That time Platini was the big star in Euro. He took a free and the Spanish GK(I can't remember his name, and at that time one of the best in Euro), allowed one like Johan to pass under him. ALMOST EXACTLY. Johan is a good gk. He looked kind of short, but his positional play and his timing coming out was extemely good trhuout this tournament. I hope he will be around for the U-20 and the Rio Olimpics. That will be our WC.

Now, as per coache's comment. I want to believe he was joking or trying to be tongue in cheek. I WANT TO BELIEVE he did not mean what he wrote. But I do not know or I am not sure. Many a foreign player has  rep TT, especially youth, and after the tournament they are let down by the TTFF modus operandi. This present TTFF foundation is currently made of JELLO. Just read the current alleged allegations against Jack and TTFF concerning the missing funds for the 2006 WC. Maybe coache is trying to say, "Johan, keep your options open". Just like Nick Deleon is doing. And just like Bobby Zamora and Kerron Clement did in the past. Talk to the Great Ato Bolden about his experiences.

Mums Welch, you married to a Trini. He probably told you how we Trinis does kiss we Heroes today and fire-hydrant them, tomorrow. Have some more patience, PLZ. You have made a good Trini Son. Blessings

exactly what crossed my mind when the goal scored. Fact is the young keeper kept T&T in the game in the first half, with some amazing saves. The defense simply could not contain Panama 10 and 18 who's movement and combinations had the backline chasing shadows. Right after the unfortunate goal, he made a brilliant double save and then save yet another break away. This for me shows strong mental character. He has the potential to go far. Good luck too him

With that patchwork defensive line of Barca, I cannot see them beating Bayern. Puyol, Macherano and Adriano out  ??? That leaves Abidal, way short of match fitness and game play in general since his operation. None the less it will be a great game

Thinking quickly and solving problems  are at the heart of life and yes football. Most of the best players had quick minds (vision), along with superb technique and physical qualities. The cognitive, is definitely one area in the game that needs constant study.

« on: March 27, 2013, 09:03:37 AM »
The speed of play was obvious & the majority could not handle it. Once you play consistently at a level that demands such speed, then your standard rises and adapts as well. Look at Venezuela, their league is better now and their National team has been developed and invested in. The competition in SA has made demands upon them and they are slowly responding.
For this to happen with TT you need players playing consistently at a higher level that demands such speed of play and the National team to play on almost every FIFA date against opposition like Peru. From a developmental standpoint, the pro league has to raise standards across the board. Najjar, Wim, Beenie, almost every National coach said it. Only the pro league circle seems to live in denial.

USA if they could weather this first haf will come away with something. I notice the Mexican foreign base breathing hard hard, they feeling the altitude as well.

Yeah, that is no longer a clear cut advantage, more men playing abroad

Plus is night time so no sun and heat to deal with is only  23 F tonight

It don"t seem like Denzil & Jaycloth know which one suppose to hold and who goes forward. At times both getting caught up field and Peru running through midfield. Backline has done a good job so far, but you can't have man just running at the backline with speed so.

Can't really blame FIFA on this one... the Costa Rican captain should have complained in the presence of the US captain to the referee about the playing conditions.  The Costa Rican head of delegation then had to follow up in writing within two hours of the match.  A technicality, but if that's the rule then that's the rule.

So now you just don't have to play soccer you have to also be verse in FIFA Administrative Law. Because the hosting organization has no responsibility in the event, the referee job is just to blow the whistle and wear a yellow shirt.

The rule is the rule, hard luck.

This is what you have a manager/chief of delegation for.

Strange I always thought it was 24 hrs to launch an official protest. Never heard of the Captain ruling..

This happened in 2006 http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/archive/germany2006/news/newsid=27212.html

Poor Freddy...for all the talent he displayed in all them U-17 and U-20 tournaments fuh de US...his skill set just cyah seem to be congruent with what this senior USMNT philosophy is.  ::)

...another thing folks need to consider, I may be wrong and someone please correct me if I am, but it seems to me that that pitch was an artificial surface field, not so? I'm sure plenty will disagree but to me, playing football on a wet artificial surface is bordering on tactical suicide.   this (american based) obsession with converting every field into a cost-cutting venture is going to ruin people's careers but on the issue at hand, it is, IMHO, even more reason the game should not have continued, even if AR allowed themselves to agree to getting it started in the first place.  I was not letting my team play on that field especially in them conditions.

No, it is grass:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick%27s_Sporting_Goods_Park

And which is the one team that will be hosting qualifiers on an artificial surface in this Hexagonal? That's right: Costa Rica.

You sure about that? CR Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica (new Stadium) is grass.

I like what you saying Chow except the part where they eh doing much better.  Lowe took over and he got them to the final of the Euro 08.  Semi Final of WC 2010 beaten by eventual winners Spain, Semi Final Euro 2012.
I think Giggsy have it right, JK will become pragmatic, understanding that to play attacking adventurous football you need certain qualities and he will eventually qualify for the WC.

Oh yeah, I know all ah dat, but comparatively speaking, Klinsmann had them doing no worse, either, and that is one of the main points I am trying to make.  He was only in charge of the team for 2 years and took them to third place in the WC, having lost their only game to the eventual (but controversial, in my book) winners.  And, if I remember correctly, Germany had kinda went into a lil' slump after the '02 WC and Klinsmann (and Low) brought them back and had them playing some attractive football that was seen as a departure from their usual style. So when we compare that the situation he is in now, where he is supposed to be trying to take the american team, comprising a handful of bland, fundamentals-oriented, non-flavourful, arrhythmic, suburban (mostly) white americans and transform them into the next coming of "the beautiful game", and he's getting some mixed results, I find it laughable indeed, that people are going to just jump on the wagon of claiming that he can't coach. People were quick to say the same about AVB when he struggled at Chelsea.

Not sure people saying he can't coach, if they are, much of that is coming from his spell with Bayern where it all went horribly wrong.

Did anyone catch where the belize announcer pointed out that they had considerable more time for preparation as the majority of the squad were local. I would really like to see this game for the 90min.
The field is always a major factor in a game & this one did not help the quality at all.

there is a link to the full game above

Thanks so much

Well from the highlights we didnt look terrible. Hadda see the whole game to know for sure. Seems like they actually using Jones to bring other players into it somewhat.

True: You could never judge a game by the highlights. Way too much direct play and long ball and if that is a tactic, then the midfield was
very far away to anticipate knock downs and win second balls. Then again those 5-6 long ball plays in the highlights could of been all that was played in the entire game. ;D

The captain of the US U17 team is none other than the son of T&T's own Wendell Moore.

He looks a very good player, composed, defends well & makes good decisions in possession.

Always interesting to me how much more leeway big name players get when they become coaches.
Bradley was hghly criticised, yet he won the Hex, took USA to the Confederations Cup final, beating Spain on the way and had a decent showing at the WC. Just as a spectator USA under Klinsman are not playing anything different than before, arguably they look far more disjointed. Remember JK came in with a lot of talk about attacking style & changing the face of US Soccer. However, these things take time & now its WCQ time.

For those who are interested take a read on Philip Lahm book, be warned he is not kind to JK, which is understandable as Bayern had one of its worst outings in recent history under his command.

Again though obserever, The USMNT was together and had a solid core 10-14 players. Klinnsman is task with the transition. Since Klinnsman came in what has been the core, Bradley?

Elan I am not leaning one way or the other when it comes to Klinsman. However, as I said he came in with lots of talk about changing the way USA play to a more attacking style. He has had 23 Games since he has been in charge, including severl extended camps (one in January with MLS players). It is his job to establish a core, so far he has basically utilized 10 players from the 2010 WC squad. Selection is his choice. The only point I am making is transition or no transition, I really do not see anything different from USA, outside of the game versus Scotland they have struggled to score goals. Many will argue that since the shock in Jamaica, US has become more defensive that ever.

Coaching the T&T National team and coaching a Club are vastly different. Made even more so
considering the Administration & genreal Organization of the Federation. Unfair, for anyone to really rate the man objectively.

Jan Zwartkruis of Holland and former T&T National team coach has passed away. He lead Holland to the WCQ 1978 & was replaced for the WC Tournament by Ernst Happel

Read his report to the TTFA back in 1980 on what T&T needs to do with the direction of its  football & it still has not been done 33 years later

We like it so
