General Discussion / Libyan Rebels.
« on: March 03, 2011, 04:25:58 PM »
So the world is supporting the rebels in Libya and now they want to charge Gadafi with human atrocities,I find it strange that it took these Europeans years to get Milosovic to the Hague and his atrocities were way,way above Gadafi's.Gadafi is fighting a war against armed civilians in case people didn't notice,do they expect him to fight them with water cannons, from what I see they look like soldiers. This is the same Gadafi that Blair and the rest was hugging up just a few months ago. This seems like hypocricy to me,Mubarak carried on for 30 years and not a sound from them.

Cricket Anyone / Ram...done!!!
« on: January 16, 2011, 11:29:20 AM »
Ramdin should now be dropped from the TT team and the gloves given to Simmons, this may give Simmo the chance to get on the Windies team considering all the crap keepers we have.Ramdin has now proved to every WestIndian that he is a dunce and he should consider another career.

Football / 2011 Asian Championships.
« on: January 09, 2011, 01:32:00 PM »
Since the Asian Cup started on the 7th Jan nobody seems interested so why is that, are we only interested in the other Championship tournaments, here is one result that may be surprising-Japan 1 vs Jordan 1,it might be of interest that the Japanese got their equaliser in stoppage time.

Football / Russia & India?
« on: January 01, 2011, 07:58:29 PM »
Could we be looking at a Russia as a country where our ballers can ply their profession or come to that even India.I noted that Indian football is fast improving and money is being spent on their youths with tours to many countries. The game is also big and crowds are massive with players from all over Europe and South America.I find it strange that their hasn't been one post about JW and what he may have brokered for TT for the support he gave them, come on lads especially the knowledgeble ones lets hear your take;yall know who you are.All the best for 2011 to all of TT,God Bless.

Cricket Anyone / Li.ghtening
« on: August 23, 2010, 06:45:00 PM »
This is not a cricket question but can anyone explain this for me.Many years ago I was in Skinner Park in Sando,I was with my friend watching athletes train. We were inches apart when there was a massive thunder and it was followed by lightening,my friend died instantly but I survived.I have always tried to get an explanation but cant get one,it was a dry day as opposed to  rainy day.He lay there dead on the grass without a mark on his body.

Football / See what we missing?
« on: June 20, 2010, 08:42:35 AM »
All because some greedy footballers wanted millions of dollars and even if the were due to get that money, couldn't they have dealt with it differently,it would have been so nice if the same players who made us so proud just continued from where they left off in the WC.Some of the f/ballers had different ideas though, they thought that they could hold the football authorities to ransom, bad idea that was as was proved, our football became disjointed, one step forward and 5 backwards.I hope those footballers who engineered that strike are happy that they took our football back about 10 years.Believe it or not I cannot see how they were worth all that money but greed is one of the big sins in our times.

Cricket Anyone / Trying to satisfy.
« on: November 10, 2009, 06:36:45 AM »
In an effort to satisfy all theWest Indian countries the selectors go for a quota system, this is absolute rubbish. Many years ago Barbados would give us 8 or 9 players and no one complained, what is wrong now.The fact is we have become more nationalistic and as independent territories that is understandable. The selectors must not go for that stupid attitude of satisfaction for all, pick  the best players no matter where they come from.Presently,Shiv and Sarwan from Guyana and Taylor and Gayle from Jamaica would be the only 4 players who could make the TT team, wuk it out yuhself. 8)

Cricket Anyone / No sponsorship for TT.
« on: October 16, 2009, 04:48:18 AM »
Over 1 Billion people are watching the IPL and TT cricketers couldn't get one little sponsorship, what a shame that even the Government couldn't come up with something. It is good that we have an influential cappo, its a long story but it has been reported in to-dar's Express,BECAUSE OF GANGA THE TT players were sponsored by the biggest poultry farmers in Asia to the tune of $100,000 US,the team stands to gain more the better they do.
TT is being seen by millions, what about the tourist industry etc,SHAME ON THE GOVERNMENT AND THE BUSINESS FRATERNITY, SUCH AN IDIOTIC BUNCH OF PEOPLE.
We are always cussing Jamaicans but they would never make that mistake,Shaggy and Chaka Khan was there, couldn't we send a small contingent to show our culture also.We Trinis think we are smart, think again.

Football / Direct Play.
« on: May 31, 2009, 05:55:20 AM »
There is something to be said in support of "direct play" since statistics show that 80% of goals have come with 3 or less touches.I hope that we dont ever become a team of long ball wonders but we should be capable of employing the long ball time and again.Ince is capable of putting the ball way up-field and that could be utilised.
I have also noticed that long balls through the middle is easy for defenders to clear but those played down the flanks do stretch the defence and create bigger problems. In essence we as a team should not be too predictable, mixing it up with short passing and some possession with the direct route sometimes might be a good mix.Ah wonder if Russell daz read deze post, anybody want to bet dat we go score 2 goals from direct play?

Football / Hope USA win. - USA vs Costa Rica.
« on: May 27, 2009, 05:21:46 PM »
I hope that USA keep winning all their matches so by the time they have to play us it wont matter  whether they win or lose.Who knows, they may even play us with a team of up and coming players, this may just give us a chance for 3 points. The USA do tend to do this from time to time but having said that, there seems to be some sort of revival in our football although its still left to be seen.I feel we would beat CR and get a draw in Mexico,I said before, when I have a good feeling about something the result is usually in my favour.

Football / Corner kicks.
« on: May 25, 2009, 05:20:48 PM »
I was looking at some play-off matches and instead of dumping the ball in the crowed box when taking a corner it was played back at an angle about 15 or 20 metres to someone to take a shot at goal, which almost came off.Could TT not use this ploy with Birchill doing the shooting,we his ability from outside,Spann is also capable of shooting from outside the box.I suppose you can do it as a surprise maybe early in the match or late when its a surprise element.

Football / El Salvador vs USA(1989)
« on: February 16, 2009, 07:04:51 PM »
Go back to 1989 when we needed a draw with USA to get to Italy, that was made possible bcoz the weakest team in the Hex,El Salvador held USA TO A 0-0 DRAW.The USA team officials could not believe their bad luck on having to go to TT and win. They even said that TT officials bribed them to play well coz they nothing to play for.I am just pointing out that we may think that we suffered by dropping 2 points but ES COULD PROBABLY DO THE SAME TO OTHER TEAMS AS THEY DID TO US,LETS WAIT FOR SOME MORE BIGGER SHOCKS.
We all know wah happen in 89,we didn't accept El Salvador help.

Football / JW Minister of Sport?
« on: January 21, 2009, 03:41:51 AM »
Prime Minister P.Manning recently met with JW and rumors are rife that he could be offered the job as the new minister of sport.Dont know how true but do you fellas think, personally I would like to see it happen,a man of his stature is wasting his time with the UNC.

Football / Mexico for play-offs.
« on: January 15, 2009, 09:26:34 AM »
I was reading this months "World Soccer Magazine" and a football writer recons that Mexico would be beaten BY the USA,Costa Rica and Honduras,he also wrote that they would end up in the play-offs against Uraguay or Chile and get beaten ....so no SA 2010 for them. The worst part about it is not a word about Trinidad and Tobago or El Salvador. The best thing about these experts is that they are usually wrong and I can only think that when we qualified for 2006 we were down and out,we are now in a much better position so I am hoping that he eats his word.

Football / Soca Warriors Scarf.
« on: November 10, 2008, 12:36:01 PM »
When TT played Iceland at QPR stadium before they went to the 2006 WC I found a Warriors football scarf after the match on Ellerslie Road for those of you who knows the place. The thing is I wanted to buy one before the match but they were selling at the side of the road and did not take credit cards.I felt very sad and wondered if I would ever get one, they were £15.00 for one and was a nice wooly quality. After the match I saw a tall Trini fella well in front of me drop something, when I reached to the spot I found it was the scarf.I picked it up and said thank God for that Trini.I use it when I go shopping in cold weather and get nice looks from people, sometimes they have friendly chat with me.I wonder if the Trini who lost it ever use this MB.

Football / Gray & John
« on: November 10, 2008, 07:23:51 AM »
I see Maturana has left out Avery and Cyd from the 18 man squad to face Cuba, our 2 most experienced defenders. The fact is we dont even have to win and even a loss may not affect us coz the best Guatemala con do with the USA match is a draw, and we will be able to see the result before the match with Cuba. With all due respect to Avery and Cyd my heart is always in my mouth when they make a tackle.I think its a good idea to give the other defenders a chance to experience the big time,it will do them good.
JONES ADDED TO 18-MAN SQUAD TO FACE CUBA

Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones has been included in an 18-man squad announced by National Team head coach Francisco Maturana for the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Cuba at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on November 19.

Jones, recently back from a knee injury was not called upon initially for international duty since making a return to the Sunderland team last month, being given the necessary time to settle back into the game after the lengthy lay off. But Jones on Saturday made himself available, expressing his interest in returning to international duty for T&T in the encounter against Cuba. Maturana and his staff along with the TTFF willingly invited the big striker for the affair.

Jones now joins Dwight Yorke, Russell Latapy (Falkirk), Carlos Edwards (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Chris Birchall (Coventry City), Clayton Ince (Walsall), Stern John (Bristol City), Jason Scotland (Swansea City), Dennis Lawrence (Swansea City), Josh Johnson (Rhyl FC) and Anthony Warner (Hull City).

TTFF Special Advisor Jack Warner welcomed Jones’ return to the national team, adding that like every other player, Jones will be well looked after while on duty for T&T.

“We are happy to have him back in the team. At first he was not called into the squad because of the fact that he was only now coming back from injury and we all know how difficult it can be a for a player to get back to his accustomed place in the starting team for  a club. We felt that it would serve him well to allow him that time.

“But when he indicated that he wanted to make a return for the Cuba game, we thought about it… Maturana and company and we went ahead with the invitation. It will give him a chance to fit back into the team before the critical matches we should have coming up next year, once of course we seal our  spot with a positive result against Cuba,” Warner told TTFF Media on Sunday.

“We were in touch on Saturday, Dwight and myself as well and both players are looking forward to the match on November 19 with a high amount of interest.”

The rest of the squad includes defenders Makan Hislop (United Petrotrin), Julius James (Toronto FC),  Seon Power and Keyeno Thomas and  midfielders Keon Daniel (United Petrotrin), Khaleem Hyland (SV Zulte Waregem), Clyde Leon (W Connection).

Jones said on the weekend that he is feeling good again.

"Things are all right with me now physically, so there's no need to make any more of it than it was. It's a long time since the injury, and you have to remember that this is football, things like this happen. It wasn't a malicious challenge so there's no point in trying to bear grudges. I'm still here and I'm still playing, so I thank God for that."

Jones played 30 minutes against Newcastle United, a full half against Stoke City and an hour against Chelsea on the comeback trail. But he was not in the team for Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Portsmouth,

"I'm slowly getting back in my own mind to being a 100 per cent fit Kenwyne Jones, mentally and physically. Whether I am fully fit or not, we will have to wait and see on the pitch – that's where you find out.”

T&T 18-man squad
1.Anthony Warner, Clayton Ince, Makan Hislop,  Dennis Lawrence, Seon Power, Keyeno Thomas,  Julius James, Dwight Yorke  Josh Johnson, Keon Daniel, Khaleem Hyland,  Carlos Edwards,  Chris Birchall, Clyde Leon, Russell Latapy,  Stern John, Kenwyne Jones, Jason Scotland

Technical Support / Apartheid on the MB?
« on: November 06, 2008, 09:19:06 AM »
AM I NOT ALLOWED TO POST A MESSAGE ABOUT Mr.G.Hunte the Minister for sport.I have already posted 2 and none have appeared. Why not ban me instead of making me feel that I belong when I dont.Is that a reflection of life in Trinidad for some.Had I said something about JW, something nasty would you all then approve.Seems like some kind of apartheid to me.

Football / Maturana & Corneal
« on: August 20, 2008, 09:30:37 PM »
I know its early days yet but it seems to me that Maturana is doing a good job wit the payers at his disposal. The same players that Wim refused to recognise as good enough to represent the country seems to be good enough to play for Maturana. He has even gone so far as to leave out our top scorer of all time,Stern John. This man has steadily built our home grown boys and has stuck by his plans and his team is getting  some very god results. There has been quite a lot of nasty comments about him that I think is un-necessary,I for one is very pleased that he is not going to beg for the likes of Carlos or whoever feels that their club is greater than their country.Maturana should keep the same team and forget about the overseas players. We must wait and see how Kenwynn Jones re-act to a call from Maturana when he is fully fit.Bigup to Maturana and Corneal  continuity is important ,the homebased boys are starting to gel.

Football / New Warriors
« on: June 06, 2008, 05:38:44 PM »
It was the first time that I saw our New Warriors and they did not look that bad as I was led to believe. We were up against some of the best players in the EPL and it was understandable that the young ones would be nervous. If we were to play that England team again I am sure you would see a much improved game from our boys. One of the things that was blatantlly obvious was how we were giving the English so much space,we were not closing them down quick enough but even so they could not take advantage. After those two early goals plus  the loss of Kenwynn I felt a real worry that we might be battered, that didn't happen so we should give some credit because it is due.We play Jamaica to-morrow and I can bet that what they have learnt from that historic 90 minute would result in 100% improvement, win, loose or draw,I expect us to beat the Brits just to let them know once again who is de borse. This is all a rebuilding process so winning is not the most important factor in this match, its how we improve on those faults which which was glaring against England. Our passing was not up to standard and we can surely improve on that against inferior opposition(Reggaebritz),I also hope that Mr.Maturana pong it it deh head about closing down people quickly and not too much long hopefull balls.Ah backing we for ah 2-1 win.

Football / Trinidad or Trinibabwe
« on: May 21, 2008, 04:15:14 PM »
Most people still cannot see that politics has now entered our game of football and its a vindictive move by the minister which was surely engineered by the Prime Minister. We can now show the world what a little "tin pot democracy"we are.Whatever made jw become a member of the UNC,surely he should have been a minister in the Government, then whatever he did would not have been magnified as they presently are.Be honest with yourselves for once in allyuh little lives and doh just live for today because to-morrow we could be another Zimbabwe. There is nuff nastiness that has happened and not a bad word against the minister, instead allyuh still cussing JW.

Football / More Britz for Simoes
« on: April 03, 2008, 07:54:06 AM »
Simoes the Jamaican football coach is about to embark on a trip to England to find more Brits to fill places that are presently held by born Jam players.one of the players they want to look at is J.Pennant of Liverpool. This news was reported by the Jam Observer.More Brits or is it Reggaebritz. That 2-2 draw with our likkle yutes havedem BAZODEE.Dem goin all over de place fi look farrin. ;D ;D ;D
Simoes to scout extensively ahead of Qualifiers.
By: Howard Walker.

Chihuahua, Mexico - Technical director Rene Simoes will be embarking on a scouting mission to look at Jamaican players plying their trade overseas.

With approximately two months before Jamaica bow into 2010 World Cup qualifying action, Simoes - who took over the football programme on January 5 - has limited time to familiarise himself with all the players available.

"We have two to three overseas trips to look at the players because there are some names I don't know... I have to know them to see if they fit in my system, so we have to go and watch them," Simoes told the Observer yesterday.

In August 2004, Simoes' compatriot Sebastiao Lazaroni led Jamaica into their semi-final round game against the USA and were leading 1-0, courtesy of an Ian Goodison 49th-minute goal before substitute Brian Ching equalised in the 88th minute.

After the game Lazaroni admitted not knowing the Jamaican players and which player to take off the bench to shut the game down and secure what would have been a famous win in Kingston.

The rest is history as Jamaica narrowly missed out against Panama and failed to advance with the USA to the final stage. The US topped the group with 12 points, Panama eight and Jamaica seven.

Simoes, 56, who led Jamaica to their historic 1998 World Cup qualification, is not taking any chances and will be discussing the matter with Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) boss, Captain Horace Burrell.

The Brazilian also made it clear every active Jamaican player will be under the microscope, regardless of where he plays professionally.

When quizzed about Liverpool's 25-year-old winger, Jermaine Pennant who as a 15-year-old was signed by Arsenal for £2 million - a record fee for a trainee at the time - and later made his debut at age 16 against Middlesbrough, Simoes said: "No, I don't know him; we have to check. I will look at him. What position does he play? There are other players whose names were given to me and I will look at them," he said.

Even retired midfielder Andy Williams, 30, who said he is willing to come out of retirement for Jamaica's World Cup campaign, will be given a chance, said Simoes.

"There are no players out of my plan; he is in the plan. Andy, Jermaine Johnson. I discuss with Ricardo Fuller, so I have the team in my mind, so we have to give chance to players.
"We cannot fix 11 players because World Cup qualifiers are two years. We need a big group of players all committed and know that they are playing for Jamaica. If they decide about that they have a chance," Simoes noted.

The TD was disappointed with the criticism of the number of Portmore United players in the team for the recent friendly against Trinidad & Tobago.

"The issue about the Portmore players, we should not think about that. In the '90s everybody was concerned about the western players because every player was from Seba, Violet Kickers and Wadadah.

"If I'm not wrong, it was 15 players from these three clubs, now it is 17 players from Portmore, Waterhouse and Harbour View, because these three clubs are the best ones right now".

According to Simoes, nobody manipulates his selection. "I have the co-ordinators and I approve or disapprove. We try to make a very good organisation right now," he stated.
