Football / Re: 2010 unmentionables fuh TNT SOCAWARRIORS
« on: February 23, 2006, 11:54:29 AM »
The list of non-mentionables for 2010 would include Latapy, Yorke and Rougier for sure.  Rougier might not even be a mentionable for 2006.
Dog and Lawrence might not be there as well  :-\

Maybe not as players, possibly with the technical team though.

Predictions....doh get vex wid mih !
Jack will get on FIFA nerves some more, possibly get richer and pull out of T&T football to be the deputy political leader of the UNC...if they still in opposition...good chance of that too  ;D
If UNC in gov't then, Jack is Minister of Sports, Culture, Security, Work & Infrastructure, Tourism and his specialty...Special Advisor to the PM.
Panday will be the PM, but Jack will be pulling the strings  ::)

T&T will not qualify for the WC 2010, because of no improvement to football administration and Panama will hire Beenie, Jamaica will hire Bora Mulatonovic (however yuh spell he name)

USA will be ranked second to Brazil.  There will be 90% black players on the team...and none on the team will be american by birth.  They will also start to market carnival as their own and Americans will make considerable money singing calypsoes in Europe.  Present day big name artistes will change nationality to cash in on the deal.  :rotfl:

Ah have more predictions but it will hurt allyuh heart...if it not in pain ahready.

Football / Re: Joe Public back in T&T Pro League.
« on: February 23, 2006, 11:15:25 AM »
When Jack pull Joe Public out of the then PFL, what were the reasons given? Has things gotten better JW took his club and his money out? Why do they want to get back in now? ... Always questions ... never answers :(
Eastern Lions to pull out Pro League.

By Joel Bailey - T&T Newsday.
08-Jan-2004 -
“Joe Public, over the last six years, have spent over $21 million and I don’t think that is value for money. And nothing I’ve seen in the Pro League seems to suggest that there will be an improvement,” Warner said. Commenting on the current Pro League, which have lacked an official sponsor since Warner pulled out of local football after the 2001 General Elections, the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) advisor said: “I wish them well if they can improve.” “I’ve tried to get the two leagues (Pro and Super) to merge, and therefore use all the expertise that we have in a small country. I did not succeed. I also tried to see whether they can attract sponsors since I’ve left. They have not done that. “For me, I could not continue with the financial haemorrhage that has taken place with my company, my family and the association,” he said.

Like JW got his wish finally

When Jack was with the Kaiser, he boasted about his now infamous predictions leading up to qualification for the WC...and he was now boldly predicting that we would beat England.  Now it seems that his prediction for joining of the leagues...made more than 2 yrs ago...would actually come to pass.

And at the risk of sounding PESSIMISTIC ....anybody could answer the following questions ?

Will the PFL continue to demand $500,000 plus the insurance and other requirements to play in the league ?
What happens when the Super League winner cannot afford the demands of 'professional' football ?
How does a club gain entrance to the Super League, will it also be by promotion from the lower leagues ?

Is good that Joe Pulbic back in the fray.  Another good thing is that if they bring in foreign players, the crowds might quicker come out to see football.  At least it wouldn't be the same old tired faces, playing the same old tired shit...as some people would say.  But opening up the competition is a good thing.

I can't really see how joining the Super League and the PFL go improve we football though.  Things just gone back to the way it was a couple years ago.  They just change the name of the league and pay some players a pitance....but really it will just be the same as 1st Div, 2nd Div and the same promotion theory.

What going to happen when the top teams in the Super League cyah come up with the $500,000 to play in the PFL, or do they plan to scrap/lower the entrance fee to make it open to any team  ???

What about entrance to the Super League  ???  Will that come from the next lower league or yuh have to pay money to play dey too ???

Right now the SL games does have bigger crowd than the PFL games, so the PFL administration just might f**k up a good league now.  We will have to wait and see.

But the statement about how much local players come from the PFL to make the national senior team have to be a joke....WHERE ELSE DEY GO COME FROM  ??? ??? ???  The coaches doh look at nobody who not playing in the PFL.  That is why Hardest probably cyah get a recall... :-\

Ah know plenty of allyuh fellas outside T&T and probably ain't get the full story yet....

Yes, the PNM did raise concerns about the building contracts for the stadia four years ago....Jack brambooz he way outta that one too...

Yes, they did investigate Rowley for contracts with some THA works.  And as man say, he come out clean.

But what make Rowley come forth with this seemingly new investigation, is because Jack try to score political points on the platform in a UNC Rallly last Sunday.  Jack start to call Rowley name in all kinda bacchanal about selling land and thing.  That is why Rowley called the press conference and hence a renewed call for the investigation about the stadia.  Read the first paragraph in the article again.

Is just a smoke screen Warner throwing...trying to rile up the supporters, but he barking up the wrong tree with Rowley.  I ain't holding no brief for the man, but Rowley is a man who does cover he tracks at all times...he does make sure he get ALL de files on an issue before he bring it to the fore.  The man say he have all the documents concerning the contracts for the stadia.

One thing he also mentioned at the press conference (but did not go into details), which I was saying in other posts as well...is what implications will all this scenario have on the TTFF...because Jack is officially an 'advisor' to the TTFF, but he name on all the major documents signing on behalf of the Administration.  When FIFA start to question the administration and find faults with the running of the organisation, particularly allowing Jack to orchestrate all kinda madman deals...we warriors could be banned until a re-elected admin put in place.

This is the article taken from the fifa site.

Executive Committee to rule on conflict of interest

At its meeting in Zurich yesterday (Wednesday, 15 February) under the chairmanship of Senes Erzik (Turkey), the Committee for Ethics and Fair Play dealt with a number of issues including that of FIFA vice-president Jack A. Warner (Trinidad and Tobago), who had himself brought the matter to the committee's attention.
The committee concluded that because of his involvement with Simpaul Travel Service in Port-of-Spain, FIFA vice-president Jack A. Warner has a conflict of interest with regard to ticketing for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, and as a result, he has violated FIFA's Code of Ethics. The FIFA Executive Committee will now discuss this matter on 16-17 March 2006.

From the guardian

At its meeting in Zurich late Wednesday, under the chairmanship of Senes Erzik of Turkey, the Committee for Ethics and Fairplay dealt with a number of issues including Warner’s involvement with Simpaul’s

It concluded that Warner’s association with Fifa at the executive level and his directorship at Simpaul’s was a conflict of interest with regard to ticketing for the 2006 Fifa World Cup.

The committee noted that it was Warner who had himself brought the matter to the committee’s attention, and praised the special adviser to T&T football for so doing.

However, it took no action against Warner but will have further discussion on the matter at its the Fifa Executive Committee meeting on March 16

Can you all believe this guy WHAT DOES HE WANT come on people REASON IT OUT

This was taken from a secret tape recorder hidden in Jack's brief case sometime ago...

OC : Aye Jack boy how yuh going ?

JW : Doh bodder mih when ah counting money man!  And move away from here quick, if yuh not accustomed to the smell of new dollars, it could make you sick.

OC : Sorry, but hear nah...people come by me arksin questions 'bout de tickets thing boy.

JW : True ? Doh f..k mih up nah ?...ah better take in front before in front take me sah.

Recorder stops and starts back with JW in front of the Ethics Committee

JW : Hear nah, I want to bring something to allyuh attention.

EC : What's up Jacko ol boy...that 'bird friend' of yours still causing trouble for you ?

JW : Yeah boy, so ah want to set the record straight because ah eh have nothing to hide.

EC : Go on Jacko, tell us more.

JW : Well when de executive did meet de last time, and the talk 'bout tickets did come up...that was right after we talk 'bout Sven and he woman friend and dem...I thought dey did say we as exec members COULD sell tickets for ourselves ONCE we make sure is okay with the respective associations and dem first.  And it must be done indirectly thru some other affiliated organisation.  So I did clear it wid mih horse boss, Oliver, first and he say is okay.  I must state frankly that I was not aware of any guidelines or rules that I may have broken.  Mih pardner Ramesh Maharaj here on my right could testify to that.  I must also state that Mr Camps, should have been the one to inform me, seeing that it was really HIS tickets.

EC : Well Jacko, you know this is a serious matter...you DID break the rules...however it WAS big of you to come forward and inform us lad.  Things could have gotten nasty if we had taken that bird fella seriously last christmas.  Anyway we'll see what we can do at the next meeting in March.  Your coming forward could just save your arse Jacko.  So how's the wife and family ?

JW : Everybody cool, de big boy learning to play football now...I hope he would follow in my footsteps some day soon too.  There should be an opening for a top TTFF post soon...maybe he might qualify.

Aight let's say there are two wrongs here... one on the part of the writer taking advantage of a situation to pursue his agenda, and one on the part of another trini trying to monopolize what should not be monopolized... d only question is which more wrong

yet we doh have all the details and can only speculate, for all we know, both parties may be right, maybe d writer have good intentions and not evil ones as we claiming here, and maybe the distribution was to the highest bidder and according to d rules... i doh know for sure, do you?

We have other things to consider.  Let's assume Jack was on the up and up with the bidding.  Why all the lies and attempts at misdirection not only from Jack, but also from members of the TTFF.  The other thing is a FIFA committee HAS ALREADY decided that Jack's involvement was in breach of the code of ethics...remember Jack is an Executive VP in FIFA and also an big boy on the Financial Committee, so he had to be aware of the code of ethics in regard to ticketing issues...which is a finance generating venture.

What we have to look out for now, is if FIFA doh sanction the whole TTFF for aiding and abbetting Jack in conspiring to rob the T&T public, and bring disrepute to this beautiful game.  I wonder if Camps will have "no comment to make at this time !"

Oh gord !!! This could get nasty boy...suppose they ban we beloved warriors until TTFF have a re-election and clean up they act.

Waye boy, so much good points man making and it take mih a while to get mih post in because man rushing the board.  So ah saying all ah have to say cause ah have to get this shit off mih mind.

Anyway Jack is a mudder c***.  And all who defending him allyuh have to be foolish to be defending the man in a situation like that, where he DELIBERATELY set out to deceive the public for his own gain, and when a journalist doing the job that he is being paid to do, which is highligh it in the newspapers...you vex with the man and saying he had an agenda.  DAMN RIGHT he had an agenda...to bring forth the truth...dat was de agenda !!!

Just like all the good Jack do for CONCACAF with the WC spots....THAT IS HIS JOB !!! To seek the interest of the region he represents.  And as TTFF special advisor, whatever his role in helping out the Warriors...THAT WAS HIS JOB !!!  Although he over step he boundaries, because he have Camps (dat puss) in the palm of his hands.  TRUETRINI yuh say it right bredda !

And all the talk 'bout how Jack take money from he own pocket to help out this one and that one and the other.  He better had do it...is all ah we money he take to help them back with.
I remember scared to death in the stadium in 89...praying we doh win because any time we scored that woulda be the end of the stadium and plenty people woulda dead.  For the Bharain game, I remember fighting up in a line by Skinner Park, getting trampled by people and police horse...I see man get licks from police that day and horse trample a woman trying to get tickets.  Then on the Saturday have to go thru the same thing again !!!  in de rain this time !!!  SAME police horse trampling people again....BECAUSE OF JACK'S ADVICE TO TTFF !!!

But man say it already...Blatter and Jack is pals, so he might only get a slap on the wrist...after all..it's votes that count.

As for where we would be without Jack...BETTER OFF !!!  Where Mexico and USA and Costa Rica reach without Jack...where WE reach...we get lucky with a half spot.  Personally I feel that the TTFF woulda have more funds at they disposal if wasn't for Jack.  He alone benefit off TTFF by not advising them effectively.  Imagine Jack say TTFF owe him $20 million and then advise them to sell him the TV rights for $1.00 ??? ??? ??? ???  and then he sellin it over for millions.  Why de f..k he didn't say allyuh sell the TV rights for $20M and pay mih back mih money...but nah...he say sell mih for $1.00 so now allyuh only owe mih $19,999,999.00

Had to get dat off mih chest...ah glad he arse in trouble !

Real good points and ideas flowing.  TI yuh capturing any of this to make recommendations to Skeene and dem fellas in the PFL.

Some things they could do to attract sponsors is by not asking for a pong and a crong to start with.
We have this way we does ask two sponsors to sponsor an event costing them $20000 each, when we could ask 20 sponsors for $2000 each.  Allow sponsors access to set up booths or kiosks at the venue to exhibit/sell their products.  Give them free tickets...when people come in for free that does bring more crowd...yuh know trini...crowd like to go where it have crowd...they does feel something good going on there and dey missing out.

Charge $5/person and increase that fee with bigger games and as seasons progress.  I doh mind paying $5 to see a shit game....but $20 go hurt mih.

And of course as allyuh mention free giveaways is always a good crowd puller, alpng with good entertainment.

Was it the Americans who had approached FIFA to have timeouts during the game, to maximise advertisement slots.  And I think was the Chinese or Koreans ask for longer half time periods (20 mins)so that they could sell more beers.  Yuh see where them people thinking.  So we have to get innovative with we sports.

One word:

MARKETING

i have better marketing ideas than de pfl bosses, coz if dey was so hot, de league would b better now >:(

100% in agreement

I am sure a lot of allyuh fellas probably went to NBA games already.  My first experience was to see 76ers play Denver Nuggets in Philly some years ago.  The experience was mind blowing to say the least.

A couple thoughts came to mind as I compared that experience to attending ANY sporting activity in T&T.  The things that stood out the most of all though was that everybody from Philly was behind dey team whether dey playing shit or not.  The next thing is that from about 15000 people in the arena, about 75% of the people was there for the atmosphere, 15% was totally interested in the game and the next 10% was about business or wuk.  Them frigging Americans could market something boy...Jeezan ages !  Dem could sell a fridge to an Eskimo for double the price and make him feel he get a real deal.  What we doh see on TV when dey go to commercials, is a set of off and on the court activities for the crowd to participate in.  Parents bringing dey 2 or 3 yr old children, because they could go home with a prize.  I myself win a trip to Disney World that night jes for going to the game.

Dey probably had about 50 sponsors who might sponsor a couple seconds of the game...first timout, second timout and so on until the game done.  I sure sponsors does be in a waiting line to get on board.  MARKETING BOY !!!

Good posts fellas...my two cents...
TI, is a good suggestion and I believe the PFL and TTFF may already be looking into community teams development.  I think in one of the Lincoln Philip interviews he intimated as such.

But you know it always have a flip side to the coin.  Community teamship still don't guarantee better wages for footballers.  What will determine that is a couple things including...
The overall success of the relevant leagues and the teams invovled.
The sponsorship and marketing of the league.
A change in the mindset of the population reagarding professional football.
A change in the mindset of the avg footballer regarding professional football and its demands.

The majority of the caribbean populace also still have not totally embraced the idea of locally run professional football leagues.  Our population still does not recognise the local footballer as a professional just as a doctor, lawyer, nurse or teacher.  The government and the TTFF has the responsibility to do something about that.  In T&T football is still regarded as a game/sweat and treated as such.  You feel you could go to the bank and tell them yuh playing for a football team and yuh want a loan to build a house ?  They will tell you..no sir...you must have a real job to get a loan here.

The players themselves is professional now, but they liming more than me and you before and after games, playing in all kinda fete match in de area, breeding gyul left right and center and cyah mind dey chirren.  But then some of dem really cyah help themselves because that is all dey know from small, since most of dem coming from depressed areas and have limited education.  Not making excuse for dem, just saying is another hurdle to cross.

One thing for sure is that community football will bring back the crowds to the games...and is a start.

I found the site by just browsing for football stuff and forgot about it, then a pardner send a email with some ole talk from the site and ah logon again.

Born and bred trini

I is everybody pardner, everybody is mih pardner

Well the Warriors only come to being recently, so I would have to say I supporting from the start.  If we talking T&T football, well I supporting since about 1980.

Best memory as a warrior...hhmmm...I like how we come back to beat Guatemala down here the other day.  I like how we come back in the game to beat Mexico after too.  Ah also like the Kerry Jamerson goal against Guatemala too...like a lot of other people on the site, but what does always stand out in mih mind was when 'Marvellous' Marvin Faustin buss de net from a near impossible angle for Sando Tech to beat Arima in Intercol Finals in '85/'86....more on that game lower down... ;D

Ah went Pres with 'Tallman' and dem

I doh really big up no player as best, whether local or foreign, everybody have dey own game.  Although I find Marvin Faustin was one of the most complete players that I see personally...ah talking 'bout defending, midfield and striking...from de U16's come right up to seniors.

Mih favourite team go have to be T&T

Men from south go remember 'Panthers FC' (youth level)...we operate for four years and lost two games...one by default.  Also play with Lanes and Club Sando for two years each.  'pardners' over the hill now, so is only fete match on a weekend for me.

Be creative ???
I not really creative buh leh mih give allyuh this one....true story...
Back in '89, yuh boy rent a car and pick he two brethen and a gyul.  Ah wanted to put some sticks on this chick for a while, so to impress we gorn up to Coconuts...recently opened.  Lo and behold Yorke, fresh from he first trip back from Aston Villa in the 'Nuts' too.  I introduce the gyul to Yorke, a shy 19yr old at the time....and that frigging oman spend almost de whole night with Yorke wining on she bamsee.   After the club heading back to south, one ah mih pardner suck she tongue in the back seat  :P.  I still drop she home last hopin to get something to salvage de night  ;)....SALT ! >:(
Ah see she last month and is she who remind mih of that lime. ;D :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anyway back to Tech vs Arima game....Faustin buss de net near the end to give Tech a 2-1 victory.  Ah was going Tech at the time, and that game had a collection of national stars on both sides.
Tech had Latapy, Faustin, Sean Walkes, Ainsely Weekes, Nip, Sutton, Gill to name a few
Arima was boasting Kerry Jamerson and Timothy Haynes...big big players back in the day.

Football / Re: Salaries in T&T Professional League!!
« on: February 10, 2006, 03:53:31 PM »
Fellas we might think that some of the players getting small money, but think about the money the club and the sponsers have to put out EVERY month with very little returns.

You have player salaries..say 30 men on roster (could be more) and an average salary of $3000 per man...
30 x 3000 = 90000
90000 x 12mths = 1,080,000
Then you have the coach, trainer, equipment manager salaries too...leh we jus say 100,000 per yr split between the three of dem.
total = $1,180,000

We eh check rental for grounds, facilities, equipment, meals, transport, medical (doctor bills when man injured).  Ah think dey does share the bill for EHS services on match days.  The ball boys does get a bread and cheese too, sometimes football.  You also have players insurance...not sure bout NIS and thing.

Dat is plenty money to put out....could more than 2 million a year, not including the 1/2 million to register the team.

How much is the first prize....$100,000 ?
Gate receipts....200 people (ah being generous here) at $20 a man...$4000.  Even if they charge $50 a man that is only $10000 a game

$10000 * 50 games =500,000  (not sure how many games the avg team will play a year, including friendlies and practice matches with a cover charge.

The only way the club making back money is by selling players (to foreign teams).  How much players good enough to make the grade ?

That is why sponsorship so hard to come by in TT.  All in all is big big risk for the club and sponsers in TT.  Sponsors really have to love the game and be real patriotic to put dey money in the PFL.  Sponsors whose business is food and drinks could franchise they products at the match venues, but if you is a building contractor, how much business deals you could cut at a football match.

The players themselves doh even have the sense of mind to support they own sponsors...KFC sponsoring and man eating Royal Castle.  Clico sponsering and when game done, man put on a jersey and cap advertising Chicago Bulls, Knicks, ManU, etc. Carib sponsoring...man saying dem only drinking black bottle and Red Bull.  That is a hard pill to swallow !

So all things considered, them fellas dam lucky to be getting $4000 a month.

Allyuh men keep hating on the bright-ass uniforms they serve their purpose you see them more in ur peripheral sight teams that play against them usually make more turnovers seeing 2 players coming towards you suddenly looks like 4 cuz your sight blurrs and spreads the colour interestingly the opposite happens with black and white at time it appears invisible to the eyes so you still turn the ball over to them.

that soundin real suspect horse. them statements is facts or yuh own theory?

let the 4 of them play a mini round robin tournament top two get to go.

Is there relegation and promotion in the leagues in Trini? or are the leagues completely separate?

if two left how many would be left back in the league they move from?

I agree wit hthe idea of the playoffs.. although I doubt that will happen..

With respect to the relegation and promotion ..I have a suggestion tell me what you guys think..

Teams deserve to be promoted etc.. however not all have the type of money to play in the highest league.. How about a change in sponsorship or they give up the right for sponsorship when the team is relegated?? Let the companies like BP etc commit to a slot eg; W-Connection slot 2, CL finincial #1 and so on so the teams that are regelated not only lose playing in the highest level but their sponsorship..

I know it may have some kinks but it may can work... eh?

It sound like a good idea.  One of the kinks go be for example, when a rum shop and a grocery from Point WANT to sponsor CIVIC, but they getting a spot from a big corporate sponsor, that may or may not clash with the brand of the 'local' (home town) sponsor.

A next thing ah mentioned in a previous thread, was to have some equity in the league, they might consider a draft system for players...like NBA and MLS.  Winning team get last pick.  Last place team get first pick in the draft.  That might open the floor so we wouldn't see Jabloteh and Connection dominating the league year after year.  Allyuh remember how it was in the 80's and early 90's when the Army used to dominate ?

Them teams under consideration would bring out the big crowds because they community based...
StarWorld - Sando
PFCC - Point
Spurs - Mayaro
Public - Eastern corridor

Them have more money than we....so they invest it de football over a couple years..form de MLs and that create some good players ...and dem f**kers real fit too them boy does real train....but trinidad have more skill than them and i think we go be able to give thenm a run...we just needed to get more organised and i think that was what beenie has been doing to de Warriors.

Quite true....and dem fellas also say a big part of Beenie game was to get them to believe in themselves, and to believe that they could compete with any team on any given day...because you HAVE to work hard for what yuh want.

First thing Beenie mentioned when he took over the team was that normally with the national teams he has been around, you have to tell the players to take it easy, and not to damage dey teammates.  But with our team he had to keep bawling behind dem to pick up !
