Football / Re: Charles waits before naming final Caribbean Cup squad.

“What sense is it if we cannot have our players available to us at least one week before a major tournament. There have been calls that we utilise the local-based players and when we are doing that it’s still difficult to get players for our preparations. I understand the clubs have their business as well to take care of but a week or two I think will be a plus l if our football at the international level can benefit from all of this.

 :banginghead:  :banginghead:  :banginghead:

I remember big debates on this forum years ago whether we should go it without the foreign based players.  Is it poetic justice when the same thing happens with local professionals ?

Still...if you focus on the big picture..it says that after so many years of 'professional' football in Trinidad that we are still unable to produce a high quality team of players whether they be local or otherwise.  Given that other countries in the region, with significantly less resources than T&T, are developing at a rapid pace and our football seems to be stuck on the proverbial treadmill...it leaves one to wonder whether we are looking in the right place for the answers to this debacle.

I guess Anil now has ammunition for not providing  funds for  our teams...

Both he and Ashwin Creed must be saying "same thing we tell them!"

Who say time for a foreign coach ?

Nothing really wrong with a pep talk at half time. Especially if the coach thinks his tactics are working but the players are being lazy. from the game highlights it seems that the strategy was getting them some success but apparently it was not sustained.

However, it seems that for the strike squad generation the default coaching point is always play for your country. Even on here you see that coming up everytime we lose a game. We need much more than just "play for the red, white and black". Our coaches doesn't seem to invest to much in the dynamics and psychological make up of today's youth players. They still believe that one size fits all.

Sometimes the coaches use language as though we going back out there to fight, but the message is really for the next game.  I saw one or two men bare back, so I guessing it could be after the game.  Russell also mentioned that Haiti put away their ONE chance to go ahead and then defended...so it could be the half time talk as well.  Then again he coulda just choose to not mention the penalty.
DAMN !!!  It's too confusing !  :frustrated:

I will rate Watson...or anybody else for that matter...over Camps.  Is a pity Watson only seems to have found his voice when it was time to demit office though.  We will see what Tim Kee have to offer come next week.  Somehow I feel it will be more of the same though.  Anybody who possesses the testicular fortitude to could get Jack to turn in the accounts and settle the issue with the 2006 players...will be OK in my book.

Deadline passes ....for TTFF to pay Soca Warriors
By Ian Prescott (T&T Express)

Raymond Tim Kee, the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) president-in-waiting may not even get a honeymoon period after he is installed unopposed as president on Sunday when the TTFF holds elections at the Cascadia Hotel.

Tim Kee faces the immediate challenge of getting Government funding for the Caribbean Cup Group Eight semi-final series which this country will host in Tobago from November 14-18. More importantly, Tim Kee may also have to negotiate a stay to contempt of court proceedings.

"They haven't followed up with any of the judges requirements," player representative Brent Sancho declared yesterday. "We are now looking at the possibility of giving the new TTFF president Raymond Tim Kee 21 days to at least pay the interim payment of $4.6 million dollars which was given by the High Courts."

"The initial conversation with the TTFF considered a settlement, but nothing significant has come out of that," Sancho said. "If they were serious about that, they would come with a cheque. This shows that they are not serious about anything."

It should never be that because you going to have a new President in a couple days time that should warrant an additional 21 days.
What were the interim stooges doing all this time ? Is not like they were actively involved in campaigning for positions.  Watson himself saying his substantive position is VP and he going to continue doing his job regardless of the change.  So then he should've been putting things in place all the time.

When I watch them SSFL games and seeing one setta blade passing...I does wonder WTF does happen when man reach on the national team.  All through that clip I didn't see not one real tackle on the ball.  Man only running and shadowing the player on the ball and allowing them Haitians to play they game comfortably.  The time we winning ball is through bad bounce and bad passes.

Pres beat Arima 1-0 through a Civaughn Dimsoy goal.

Hear nah...as is having to play away is not enough, even with the impressive unbeaten record in the zone...but the officiating does be a next thing Pres does have to fight up with boy.  Talk about a raw deal the southerners does get up there.  The ref play about 15 mins time-added-on when there were very few time stopping infringements during the second half.

The schedule was madness.  How could a team whether it was Arima or Pres play on Monday then travel to Tobago to play on Wednesday?  Basically 2 games in 48 hours.  The semis should have been no earlier than Thursday and winner of the Arima/Pres game should have had home field advantage to eliminate the travel.

And the North, Central and Tobago teams would've played one game and into the final eh.  I not sure how it was last year, but year before was the same thing.  If is only five teams, they should at least rotate every year so the south and east zone winners wouldn't always play more games (away) to reach the finals.

Scarborough Secondary player was on the end of a tackle that left him with a badly dislocated and most likely broken ankle. The player's foot was completely out at the socket and facing in a different direction.
Sad injury, hope he is able to get the correct attention and can make a full recovery.

I did not see the tackle but I was informed that the linesman on that side said that it was not a bad tackle but the boy's foot got stuck in the ground and that is what made the injury worse.

Prayers go out to this unfortunate young man.

True dat.  I really dont like to hear when these youths suffer those kinds of injuries.

It is so amazing that all these big men coming out the hive now.  They all trying to impress on the public that none of them want anything to do with Warner and rebuking insinuations of their alleged allegiance with Warner, but when he was Special Advisor, you couldn't hear a peep from them.

Actually.....this is a brilliant tactical decision.

Budget pass...deficit....7 billion or so.

Ministry of Works going back to borrow 2.7 Billion.

Financial Year eh done yet....in fact we in the first month...to pay this cost for the OPV....is 1.4 Billion...(which we not even sure from whence it cometh) Thats almost 4 Billion.

Essentially....we in November and 11 Billion in the red already with underwhelming revenue generators.

De only way this could make sense is the fact that by not having the OPV's......several billion dollars in drugs could come in and go out the country and thus cushion the effect of 7 .....if not 11 billion dollars deficit.

Brilliant strategy.

 ;D

According to Rowley at the PNM convention yesterday...the PP done know they lose the case so they put the 1.4B inside the budget and allocated it to the Min of National Security already.  He say when he asks Warner what all the money allocated to the ministry is for, Warner said he didn't know.  Asks whether was for personnel or equipment...he said was for equipment.  ::)

But yuh right...brilliant strategy !

77
Why is QPCC receiving a penny from the public purse for this purpose?

Good question, I could only infer that is because Anil want a sweat...it costs of $50,000.  Then again is the same Anil who paid 0.9M for a Nikki Minaj concert (under the guise of cultural development), so what is 50K for a sweat ?

‘Pres’ delight in sweet revenge.
By JONATHAN RAMNANANSINGH (Newsday).

Cooper also revealed that the south winners will be without their star- striker Shackiel Henry and right-wingback Anthony Charles for Monday’s clash.

The duo, along with Arima’s Marcus Gomez, are expected to join the rest of the national Under-20 team for their Caribbean Football Union (CFU) final round match against Jamaica next week. Cooper was well aware that he would be losing two key players for the Arima encounter, but held in high regard the smooth transition of tactical players of his team.

 :nailbiting:

At least we finally have something worthy to read about a south team.

i don't mind having to play the extra game..but i find that should rotate through the teams by year..so one year south play 2, one year east, etc..round robin may be the fairest but then wouldn't really get a "final" with that kinda knockout vibe

it used to be round robin back in de day when it was big 7 and big 8  when central became their own zone.  However with the travel arrangements to and from tobago plus trying to shorten the season it became a knockout.

That is correct.  Sando Tech used to be in the fray in those days as well.

the news papers are in Port of Spain ,

which news man is willing to drive all the way down south to talk to school children footballers.

Fact is it is easier to just use the schools that are closer....

Tell me is joke yuh making nah...please.

I hope so too yes...cuz can't have any other sports journalists in any other part of T&T than north? Email doesn't exist...

hoping pres does well in d big 5..as usual will have to play more games to reach the final than the north side..i thought those games supposed to rotate? but yet it always seems that tobago, south and east have to play 3 games to win big 5 yet north has to win 2...
i cud be wrong tho, so feel free to correct me if i am

Yes you are correct...we play Arima on the 29th, then travel to Tobago a couple days after....whilst the north team (St. Anthony's) play the less fancied Central team, and then move on to the finals.

This Big 5 should have been a round robin to really see who comes out on top.

Didn't even know it had a country called Eritrea...even though they well to get on that list.
St.Kitts have a debt of approximately 1.7B...they should try to get T&T to pay that off for them and let them start from fresh :D

One of these days we will get some even reporting in the media as it relates to school football.

So far on the sports news highlights I see one 10sec clip of Naps playing PVille (I think), but they always showing highlights of the North and East zones.  Don't even talk about the Central zone...even worse for reporting.

Pres captured the South zone with a game in hand and they wrote six lines...primarily about the stats.  St. Anthony's captured the North Zone and the two dailies carrying a ball by ball commentary about the game.

 :cursing:

Because St Anthony's is a big team  not to mention we on a 30 game unbeaten streak

Which about to end in a week or so.  ;)

Just imagine Sportsmax All Access...a Jamaican production...had to show a clip on the current Pres team.  They interviewed a couple of the stand-out players and the coach.  All the while our media like they fraid to travel out of POS.
