But has Sancho been playing regular football, or looking for a club?

After he starts playing regularly he will get the call up.  Also, we already know what he can do.  There are lots of other players to geta better look at prior to the qualifiers to see what they can offer.

BUT Jah, Carlos ain't play any more than Sancho due to injury (in fact he STIL recovering) an Carlos geh call. Ain't we know what Carlos culd do too? Also the ENTIRE defence is going to be comprised of men who must have 10 caps TOTAL...wouldn't it be better to have at LEAST one experienced man at the back? And to top it off "he offered to pay his own way back to TRAIN with the team".. nah man, it have MORE goin on here, IMHO Brent is beng targeted.

point taken Patriot.

but why anelka? i'm sure theres someone out there whos younger, just as good and will cost the same.

Anelka is a proven goalscorer.  Yuh cyah do much better than that.  Plus he is still in his 20s.

10 million pounds is a fair price (on the low side I think) for Anelka.

He should take the Christmas in the cold to train and acclimatise.
Yuh probably mean the US like in florida or southern california ? not any where above maryland.
how cold does Florida or Southern california get?  are you kidding?

If you want to be able to play in the cold you have to get accustomed to it.

You wastin Cornell in League One. I buy him from Jabloteh for Charlton in the Championship and he start rippin up early. Then he went cold cold cold. That game does sen men mad.

Yeah boy planetcory, the man was rippin up then he just get cold.   didn't score for 6 games straight.  Not even an assist.  But yuh hadda keep playing him so he get out of the slump.  Wha else yuh go do?

On another note, the computer has Kenwyne Jones playing center midfield for Trinidad with Glen and Scotland up front.

Football / Cornell Glen moves to Swansea (Football Manager 2008 game)!
« on: November 16, 2007, 03:07:34 PM »
... in my Football Manager 2008 game!  lol

I bought Cornell Glen from the MLS for US$475,000 and he is starting with Jason Scotland up front.  In the back I have Dennis Lawrence, Marvin Andrews (bought him from Raith for $US50,000 and a young striker) and Cyd Grey (bought him from Jabloteh?  or was it Joe Public? for US$350,000).

With that bombsquad Swansea won League 1 with the second place team 25 points behind.  Scotland finished with 30 goals in all competitions, Glen with 28.

As I moved up to the Championship I just bought Sealey from the MLS for US$1,000,000.  Tried to buy Carlos Edwards but Keane not selling.  Bought Collin Samuel as well from the MLS for US$550,000.

So on the team I have Dog, Cyd Grey, Collin Samuel, Sealey, Cornell Glen and Jason Scotland.  I just released Tallest as he wasn't getting much playing time and he asked to be put on the transfer list.  (I doh take no dissent.  He get ship out one time.)

Also tried to buy Baptiste but the work permit get turned down.  As he get some more caps I will try to buy him again.

I will let allyuh know how we doing as the season progresses!    ;D

My first boots was a boots with the NBA emblem on it!  Imagine that.  It was a rubber pegs.  That was standard 1.

After that I had a Topper.  Wicked Brazilian brand.  Buy it in Arima.

After that I had a Patricks.  But getting pegs for them was pressure as Patricks had they own kinda screw ins, so as that buss I switch brands one time.

From there I had a diadora.  I buy that in the dry goods store in Chaguanas.  Long time that was the place to buy boots in Trinidad.

Since then is pure Pumas.  Once you wear a Puma King it hard to wear anything else.

I think it comes down to a combination of factors:

Personality

Scoring big goals in big games

Marketability

Luck

Look at David Beckham for example.  He tends to fulfil all of the above criteria.  Some may argue that David Gerrard is as good or a better England player than Beckham, but Gerrard does not have anywhere near the global recognition.

Warner will not quit FIFA despite political win
By Tom Brown (Reuters)

PORT OF SPAIN, Nov 8 - Controversial FIFA vice-president Jack Warner has no intention of stepping down despite entering politics in his native Trinidad & Tobago......
"I have refused consistently to dignify the garbage that (Andrew) Jennings spews out," said Warner in reference to the investigative journalist who presented the report on the BBC's Panorama programme.
Warner, a retired former history professor who said he started out in life "dirt poor", also dismissed claims he has engaged in efforts to rip off Trinidad & Tobago players in connection with their 2006 World Cup appearance money. (Editing by Rex Gowar)

Is that a fact?  A retired history profesor?  What University did he teach at?  Can anyone verify this information.  This is the first I have seen this description of JW

my grandfather was a lecturer at Teachers Training College when Jack was there.  I have a Teachers Training College photo with a young Jack amongst his colleagues at the time as well.

As bad as things are here in the US when it come to race issues at least there are Laws and regulations to ensure that there are consequences for such behaviour.

Had this situation occurred is the US the consequences would have been a lot more dire than losing their sponsor...the key  being "Hostile work environment" whcih is music to the ears of litigators.

That is old talk PantherX.  Don Imus of "nappy headed hoes" fame is back on the radio starting December 3rd.  Consequences my @#!

polls conducted on a sample population of 650 people could never be reflective of a whole population..

thats about 16 people per constituency..

has anyone from NACTA ever taken a class in statistics?

Actually polling is done on similar sample sizes in the US.  To accurately poll the US election (in a country with 300 million population size) about 1,600 people are polled I believe.  Yes our population is much smaller which may lead to difficulties with the sample due to lack of scale, but you work with what you have before you.

So let's be wary of critisizing sample sizes.

If you choose to raise questions as to the pollsters, that is a different issue.

dcs, with regards to your comment on how a poll an have you at an aggregate percentage close to a front runner and still predict that you win no seats, it is quite easy to explain.  Ask the ONR.  If party X and party Y both have 100 votes across the country, but party X's votes are spread very thinly across all constituencies it may not win a seat.  Party Y on the other hand may have its 100 aggregate votes concentrated in a few constituencies.  This will lead to a better chance of winning these seats.

Football / Re: Jones is a Midfielder
« on: October 22, 2007, 12:26:45 PM »
We can play a 4-5-1 now and play it well.  I think Jahyouth getting a little bit mixed up, being the lone striker doesn't mean that the ball is played 40 yards from the defense onto the forward. It means that the transition from defense to offense is more fluid and relies on maintaining possession. It requires that Jones, who is becoming fully competent, is able to hold the ball long enough in order to bring numbers into the attack.

Not getting mixed up at all.

Being the lone striker doesn't mean that the ball is played into the top from the defenders all the time, but it relies on the fact that this can be done with consistency and accuracy.  If the defenders cannot do this it allows the other team to exert high presure on your midfielders leading to turnovers and counter attacks.  Why?  The long ball in a single striker formation is a release valve which allows the team to attack as a unit.  Without the long ball, the formation is very tight and compact, and in my opinion we doh have the requisite skill to play where space is very limited.

Football / Re: Jones is a Midfielder

People not seeing the real issue here:

Can Kenwyne Jones play as a striker for Trinidad and Tobago and be as successful?

The position Kenwyne is playing now is the one striker role.  This is a much different role to the twin strikers that we usually play in the 4-4-2 formation.  The one striker role needs the following to fourish:

1) Good direct service from the defenders on the chest, directly to feet, or to head for a flick on;

2) Midfielders that are fit and aware enough to quickly support the sole striker in both defensive and attacking positions ; and

3) Enough movement from the midfielders to keep the defense honest so that the single striker does not find himself marked by two defenders at every turn.

Does the Trinidad and Tobago team fit this bill?  I don't think so.

1) Our defenders can barely make a decent 40 yard pass into the channels farless put it on a striker's chest, to his feet, or for a flick on;

2)  How quickly will our midfielders provide support for a single striker?  Even Stern who (for all his ills)has really mastered the art of screening and holding up the play often got frustrated at the lack of support from the midfielders.

3) Have most of our players learnt that the game is played most effectively without the ball yet?  I'm not too sure about that.

How will Kenwyne look in a 4-4-2?  And for all his prowess heading the ball, who do we have that can bring in decent crosses?  Not even Carlos can claim that.

I remember Creese- he played at Mucurap & Fatima....

congrats & good luck.

Little known fact:
Creese was one of the first junior sec ---> "prestige school" transfers.  He went to Fatima in the mid-80s.  That move ushered in the era of transfer-mania from junior secs into St. Mary's, Fatima, QRC and most of all St. Anthony's that changed the face of Secondary School football forever.

Fact?

I think that's based on your memory.

Gally transferred to Fatima- and he was way before Creese...and I'm pretty sure there were others in his time and before.

Creese was probably one of the more high profile ones in the modern era. (our modern era...ah know we's old timers now  ;D)....but I feel that kinda thing was going on from the earlies....

Notice I said "one of", not "the first".  What is more important though is that the numbers of transfers went up significantly after Creese.  Not saying that he was the cause, but he was a forerunner to the trend.

Sure Gally transferred to Fatima, but was the team comprised of 40 - 50% transfers as we commonly saw in the early - mid 90s?
