Great. So a team with 5 or 6 starting foreigners mash up New England...and men getting...

Oh geez...why i even bothering dread

Midknight, most times you hit the mark, but you missed the point entirely tonight.

A victory, and such a resounding victory at that, is good for the PFL.  And what is good for the PFL is in extension good for the development of Trinidad and Tobago football.  The PFL gained a lot of respect in Boston tonight; our young players gained some much needed exposure; and the reputation of the PFL was bolstered.

Regardless of the nationalities of the players on the field for Joe Public, the fact remains that the vast majority of players in the PFL are Trinidadian.  As such, any gains by the league will have a large effect on our football (via our players) due to the sheer number of them in the league.

Give Jack he jacket in this instance.

« on: August 30, 2008, 02:58:35 AM »
Why allyuh doh let Maturana and them coach the team?!

Every omission, every move, is ah set of old talk and cussin.

People bawl when he drop Stern and we still drop three on Cuba.

Now he drop Birchall and people bawling again.

Let the coach coach.  He has been getting good results.  When the results get consistently bad then you have a reason to open your mouth.  Until then, relax and enjoy nah.  The team made light work of an active and dangerous Cuba team in Havana.  Can he get any credit for that?

A word to the players who gripe and complain in the press when dropped or not selected: cool allyuh self.  Nobody is bigger than the team.  If you are in the player pool that means you are either selected, or not selected.  You say that the technical staff is unprofessional by sending texts when you are ommited, but then you act equally unprofessional when you go and use the press to gripe and complain. Many, MANY coaches across the globe do not take public criticism by players about private team matters lightly.  Tread carefully.

Suazo (Honduras) hands down.

Sua who?

You read the title of the thread?

I doh believe Stern deserve that title yet...he have to pull off a next 10-15 goals this qualifying campaign for me...but you off with that one IMO

Like your eye buss or what... of course I read the titile of the thread.  either that or you don't know your players.

Educate yourself about a big player, and in my opinion the most deadly striker CONCACAF has ever seen.  Hugo Sanchez is a good agument for that title though.

Who here ever play savannah football?

That football different than any other kind of football in the world.

And it could be the Queen's Park Savannah, Aranguez Savannah, or the savannah in Pinto Road Arima -- once is in Trinidad...

EVERY SPECTATOR IS A COACH

Everybody could tell the winger where to stand up, how to make a run, how he loafing, or the right technique to cross the ball.

The center link never knocking the ball enough... the sweeper always playing wild... the keeper not diving enough...

IN TRINIDAD EVERY SPECTATOR IS A COACH

Allyuh let Maturana coach nah.

Is years the man doing it and he have results to show too.

Relax, sit down, and watch.  And leave Maturana to do his job.

Football / The Blame Game
« on: June 23, 2008, 09:14:18 AM »
So we blaming the coach now...  I thought we was blaming Jack?  Wait... no... we blaming Alvin Corneal... or is Anton?

When the blame game go stop boy?

3-5-2, 4-4-2, 4-3-3, 5-3-2

Let the players play.  With all the experience and so-called "talent" that we are forever claiming to have we let Bermuda give us heart pains.

Fellas need to step up... now.

How quickly we forget the last qualifying campaign.  Can anyone remember the group that we were in?  St. Kitts Nevis, St. Vincent, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago.

It took last minute miracles AT HOME to save the Warriors from embarassment against St. Kitts Nevis.  And we also scraped by St. Vincent.

My point?  We always seem to start slow.  As time progresses, hopefully the more seasoned pros will return to the fold (i.e. Jack seeing his money jumping up now if we get eliminated too early) and the team will improve.

At the same time, all these "big players" that people are always hyping on this board showed that without the foreign-based crew they are little better than a man named Ming who plays for Bermuda.  He could be a plumber for all we know.

But wait... we shoulda hit them 6!  Ent?

Who we could blame again?

Not to be too negative but ... That we weren't beaten more convincingly against England could also be down to England taking their foot off the gas. It's hard to really judge how much credit we should be taking for not getting battered.

That said, I don't think the performance against England was THAT bad. Our defence just doesn't inspire much confidence.

Why do we have a D2 college footballer as our starting left back?

Until tomorrow.

Whats is the difference between D2 and D1 or D3? NOTHING!!only well D1 schools may have more money So, you do not make any sense. The man is a great player and is definitely a product for the future. The thing is As much as we can criticize the current team and the coaches selection style, (which i do also) this is a renaissance in TT football and the change may not be see immediatley but over time it will be visible.
I am not sure if de man is a great player, that might be overstating a bit... and as much as this might be a changing time for tt football you also must admit de differences with de team selection and de seeming unrelated yet related coincidences about de seeming corneal agenda are too many to be just swept under de carpet.

There is a significant difference between DI and DII on the one hand, and DIII on the other.  DIII schools cannot give athletic scholarships.  DI and DII schools can.  NAIA can as well.

Plenty big players in DII and NAIA as well as DI.

That coach is my bredrin.  Good fella.  Fantastic coach.

Hopefully TTFF can find a way to encorporate him in the Trinidad National set up in some way.  I know that he is very senior already in the US Soccer Women's Olympic Development Programme (ODP).  I hope that he is asked (and given the requisite support) to help with the Trinidad and Tobago women's set up as well.

Bear in mind that after such a poor first half we coulda be down by 3 against a top CONCACAF team.

Let's keep building.

Thanks for the post Trevor...

Jahyouth...to my knowledge..No..Anton did not coach no senior team at club level...unless you count Alcons in the East zone...

He is part of the TTFF Techincal team...

So he did U-20 to the Concacaf final round....and U-17 to the World Cup

So the Assistant Head Coach of our Senior Team has had no significant senior team coaching experience at any level other than the "East Zone"?

But that is very strange?

How then is he a mainstay of the TTFF Technical Staff then?

I wonder how nobody answer my question yet:

Has Anton Corneal ever coached a senior team at the club level? Anyone have an answer? BM?

If so, how successful was he?

This is our Assistant Head Coach of the Senior Team.  This is a simple question, right?

Check out his CV at this link:

This shows a very comprehensive (though biased) history of Alvin.

Note that I asked about ANTON, not Alvin Corneal.

Let me ask again.

Under 20 World Cup
1991
In the CONCACAF qualifying rounds, Trinidad and Tobago topped a group that included El Salvador and Canada and bounced back from an opening defeat to Mexico in the final round to beat the United States-a Jerren Nixon goal ensured a maiden World Cup qualifying win against the US-and hosts Guatemala. The players received a heroic welcome home and the country's dreams went into overdrive when they beat the Brazil youth team 4-2 in their final World Cup warm-up match at the National Stadium before heading to Europe.

If KND see this you know he will say "Sam, you have to much time on your hands" . But a simple WOW !! good work dread will do fine.

In that game we beat Brazil (4-2) anyone know the specific's of it ? like who scored for T&T and the line up and who played for Brazil. I think Roberto Carlos was there ?

Yeah it was in the Nat. stadium- I was there at the match.....a high point for our youth football, despite Brazil fielding somewhat of a "reserve" team. I remember Shawn Boney scoring a penalty, and I think Angus Eve & Dean Pacheco also scored.

Brazil's full strength youth team went on to cruise through the tournament only to lose to Portugal on penalty kicks in the final (that was the Portugal's golden generation of players- Figo, Rui Costa, Couto etc...), while our squad exited after the first round with 0 points, 0 goals scored and 12 conceded....a harsh crash back down to earth.... but a nice stat nevertheless....

I think we have passed our Golden generation of players too: Latapy, Yorke, Hislop, Jack, Stern etc  Not to mention players like Nakhid, Nixon, Faustin, Marcelle, Marvin Andrews.

The youth teams now have St. Kitts and all beating them.

Football / Re: An all English Arsenal?
« on: January 12, 2008, 07:55:51 AM »
This is good news for English football. Freeman looks like a good player. Gillingham must be doing something right. They sold Ryan Bertrand to Chelsea for £500,000 couple of years ago.

I just wish that Wengar could encourage these young English guys to play overseas for a season. Englands biggest problem is the lack of ambition of players to play abroad.

England's biggest problem to me is how the "big" teams stockpile young promising English players only to keep them languishing in the reserves for years and years.  Reserve league football is not going to develop this talent.

A change to the loan rules allowing all players to be recallable might solve this.  Also, rules mandating that Academy players "apprentice" by playing at lower level clubs would also be a boon to English football.
