Dani Alves gehing me vex oui.

He being a ass.  The yellow mighta be a lil harsh, but the ref probably give it under the "persistent foul play" rule.  Meanwhile Tommy Smyth talkin' a setta shyte.....as usual!

The man was fouling persistently and talking shit. Good card in my opinion and I supporting Barca.

It would be nice to know what happened to the youths who got the opportunity last year.

Sometimes yuh does need licks to make yuh take the extra step. All yuh ever had a bad semester in school? My first semester in Grad school I get so much licks that the next semester I find myself studying on the weekend.  I never do that in undergrad. Developing the right work ethic take some time but eventually they will fall into the groove. Their training sessions done looking  more professional than the senior team.

95
Men talking about Latas picking his own team. Was he in Trinidad at any point to scout the local players during the season? I don't think so. So he has to be going off somebody's opinion. Could it be Vranes? Does anybody know if Vranes had an interest in the PFL b4? As Big Mag suggested it may be from the meeting with the local coaches. Who knows. I think it is unfortunate he is in this position having to choose players based on others opinion. Different coaches have different systems and require different personnel for their system. Some need a bruiser in the middle to enforce. Others have the personnel to play a possession game and a bruiser may be a weak link in this type of system. Keon might not defend but in a team that could keep possession his limited defense might not stand out as much.

Is the Dwight Yorke the size of the Mannie? I assume it is because the Ato Boldon not much bigger and all them stadium build same time for same purpose. Is one of two things going to happen. The small size of the field will be a serious disadvantage to us or it would be an advantage. The size may help out with the lack of fitness and marking deficiencies because it have less ground to cover. Latas and Dwight could get more playing time. Maybe even Andrews, Whitley and all the other unfit old men people here calling for. However, providing my assumption of a small field is correct, I think playing in the DY is playing into Costa Rica hand. Their short pass, quick touches game with our ball watchers and slow to react defense going to be fatal. I not no coach so I probably wrong. All I can do is sit back and watch the ride.

(Ince)

(Silvio Spann)    (Lawrence)     (Thomas)    (Julius James)

(Edwards)     (Birchall)     (Yorke)     (Daniel or Darryl Roberts)    (Collin Samuel)

(Kenwyne Jones)

This side will beat Costa Rica 3-0. I guarantee this, but we woul have to change the coach cause he hating on Collin Samuel and rather a left winger who dont cross in balls for Kenwyne to head in.

No Hyland?

I Still think Carlos should be the RB. Not sure who replacing him on RW but he can overlap into the offense. This would allow the midfield to be a little more confident going forward.

This might sound like madness but Dwight doesn't have the legs to start and finish a game. Automatic Sub. Can we afford that tactically?

98
I think we have a rude awakening to come.  Anybody notice Yorke his comments about Hyland after the USA game. To me he was genuinely surprised that the man could cut it. Yorke and Latas is padners. Latas didn't see Hyland play b4? Look out for a whole lot of the old guard.

The question should be what is the deal with Yorke now. He was toast in the second half of El Sal. He older and doesn't have match fitness. Sweating him is a guaranteed sub.

Avery, Cyd and Sancho probably not match fit either. Sorry to say but Latapy riding in on a blaze of glory seems like a fairy tale. He will be better than Mats tactically (I hope) but he still have lemons so we drinking lemonade.

Put Carlos in the RB pool.  I think he has the engine to play the position and overlap effectively. Plus he will be later to the action which would bring his shot into play.

Birchie seems to be a very dedicated player. I remember him talking about putting hours with his shooting practice. If he put in time with Becks in training he will develop even further. The only for a player to improve is to play with better players. Is only he can decide if he wants to move away from family and friends and  how much of an opportunity this really is for him

On a side note is it me or has his passing improved? He is still not the greatest but to me, when given an outlet after winning the ball he actually makes the pass.

I like his as an attacking mid. He has touches, can pass and most importantly the man has heart. Not sure if he is as much a ball winner as Birch but I believe at worst he is a close second with offensive upside.

Darryl Roberts?

possibly..If Roberts could play LW which i'm sure he can he should get a call up... but upfront ... I cant see him playing over Stern and Scotty...

I wonder if Daryl could take Birchie's role?  He does fight the game. He has a better touch than Birch and is more confident on the ball.I always say that Brichie should always be on the field but even though his passing and touch has improved he still has some work to do.

Ok so I agree with axing Mats. The question is, "Who do you all realistically want to see in charge?"

106
In order of importance.

1. The whole team need better conditioning, mental and physical.

2. Either mats need to realize is lemons he have and make lemonade or he need to ride out and look for the fruits somewhere else to make his fruit punch. T & T needs to play unattractive grit and determination football like the US and let  individual players spark make the difference here and there.

3. The best way to shield the defense is to have the ball. I doh care if we have to have 40 mins of negative football. Pass it back and start over.

4. Stern is a poacher rebounds increases his chances of scoring. We need to keep possession of the ball long enough to creating shooting chances for Birchie and Carlos.

5. Birchie should not leave the field.

6. Latas should always come in for at least 15 mins. This will create more offense than the previous 75 mins.

7. Jones adds nothing because we can't utilize his strengths; sweat men who can run at defenses.

8. The coach need to have extra sessions with the defense and go over game footage and point out stuff.

Slow is an understatement.

Trinidad is in its rightful position, at the bottom of the table
looking up.
Nobody on the Trinidad team had a good game, no one.
The score was 3 ZERO, no one had a good game!

When it comes to tactical moves, it has to be presumed
Maturana is calling the shots.
If that is the case, why ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH did he take
off Birchall?
The 2nd and 3rd goal came right up the middle
Who is the solitary plug to make the tackle when the other team
comes up the middle?

Quite honestly, IF we were to come 4th in this competition, we
will face either Uruguay or Chile, NEITHER of which we have a chance.

The game was a game up until Birchall was on, once he got subbed,
we were in triuble.

I totally agree. This is not the first time the game went south after the subs started. I saw something in this team in the first half and for about 10 mins in the second half where it looked like they could compete. Latas should have come on and started to make the telling passes and hold the midfield so Stern could have stopped playing so deep.  At no point in any game should Birchie come off the field. We also need to go back to playing the ball on the ground and teeing up Birchie, Carlos  and whoever for shots. I glad for Kenwyne at Sunderland but the man does not fit into Trinidad's style of playing. We don't whip in crosses and the man back to the goal game degenerate. His touch was poor since b4 the hex. That is not a problem with form. If we have a striker who coming into to the midfield he should be able to run at defenses and create space for other players i.e. Scottie and maybe Glenn.

Men saying we not good enough. That is not what I see. If we played with more heart I think we would have been more in this game. After so many times subbing Birchie and then seeing the midfield become Swiss Cheeses Maturan/ Latas ain't get the memo. The diff between this team and 06 was heart dread. Then men lie down early.

We have to be honest, the USA is better than us so winning in the US will always be a longshot for us.  I wish it was not so but it is the truth.

This might sound like madness but I didn't think the US better than us until Birchie came out. The coach not coaching to our style of play. From what I can remember when we score against the US it is plays on the ground or a shot. Us defense is strong in the air and we don't whip in crosses. Jones should not have started. Against South American side a la Honduras Jones might have been useful. Latas coming in would have made them less offensive.

I give up.....!!!!!!

We could have been way better with the same formation and personnel (Except Jones).

Just out of curiosity did Maund start any games for the US? Would he have been a starter for us?
