Football / Re: usa vs guatemala friendly
« on: February 20, 2006, 08:20:28 AM »
Kingman...  when I was watching the last world cup over here .... all I hear "is the US conquering the world sport." Seemed like it was US versus the world ...like Bush versus the UN or something...
They should say that for their own sports... like basketball and baseball where they've been gettin their arse cut in the olympics...
Technically.... they're a strong team... and their development should be a model for other upcoming countries to adopt...
But their Arrogance is blinding.... and in Europe it's not going unnoticed...

That group on the whole is a strong group but I it's filled with teams with alot to prove... Italy are traditional powerhouses but not considered like the Italy of old...
Czech is a real decent team, who have gained respect in European competition but haven't had the opportunity to showcase their talent in the WC....
Ghana is a dark horse.... in the African Nations Cup... though being in a tough group (Senegal, Nigeria and Zimbabwe) and missing some key players like Essien.... didn't put on a very encouraging performance... however, come June... they're nobody to be taken lightly...
I wouldn't put US coming second in the group but I'm not saying it's impossible and judging from their performance last world cup.. it could very much be...but this time other teams in the group are very aware and wary of their ability..."SHOCK and AWE" wouldn't work this time round....

US might be playing decent... but I tellin yuh Europian teams not goin to let the US show them up on dey soil...
The plain fact is that when the day of reckoning comes, they going to get dey arse cut in de world cup.... You honestly feel Italy going to let US beat them... nah man....
Czech Republic ent easy either... as for Ghana... well African teams always feel they have something to prove....

Football / Raul Back!!!
« on: February 19, 2006, 11:11:53 PM »
Well, well , well.... I have to applaud Raul man... the man made his return for Real Madrid in the 66th minute versus Alaves and prepared to start versus Arsenal...
He recover quick...considering they were questioning his availability for the World Cup....
He is a class player and I respect his determination....

The design and layout ent bad but the content rel,rel poor...
What suprised me... is that Dwight's profile shows little or nothing about his career... yuh mean it so hard to find clips of his Man United days or even Villa... boy Latapy too...
As for the commentator....waz he name... Ruskin Mark or some ting like that... I never like the man.... he can't talk properly... and from the clips, he can't read properly either..... I wonder how he reach there....de man so monotone is funny.... yuh could go down any bar or rum shop and find men who make the game sound more interesting...
I find the design pleasing to the eye... but I hope ppl don't expect more than that... dey would be very disappointed...

1989...Thaz my opinion

Football / Re: Theres only 20000 Soca Warrior Supporters in London!
« on: February 17, 2006, 01:47:20 PM »
I think one of the reasons it was staged in England is because the location is convenient for most of the players...Most of their clubs are in the UK so  Managers would be more lenient to let their players go since they could return for training soon... If is in Canada.... it would be harder...
Plus it offer the local based to get a little acclimatized to the Europian environment....

Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Wayne Rooney are standing before God at the throne of Heaven. God looks at them and says; "before granting you a place at my side, I must first ask you what you believe in."

Addressing Ronaldo first he asks, "what do you believe?"

Ronaldo looks God in the eye and states passionately, "I believe Football to be the food of life. Nothing else brings such unbridled joy to so many people from the slums of Rio to the bright lights of Madrid. I have devoted my life to bring such joy to people who stood on the terraces supporting their club."

God looks up and offers Ronaldo the seat to his left.

He then turns to Luis Figo , "and you, Luis , what do you believe?"

Figo stands tall and proud, "I believe courage, honour and passion are the fundamentals to life and I've spent my whole playing career providing a living embodiment of these traits."

God, moved by the passion of the speech offers Figo the seat to his
right.

Finally, he turns to Wayne Rooney , "and you, Wayne , what do you
believe?"

"I believe" says Rooney "you're sitting in my seat."

And God responds, "No,I have a special seat for you. It's a throne reserved for all English football stars"
And offers Rooney his Toilet bowl

Hard luck there man.. I hadda knock the Premiership a little....

Good jokes though man... I had a good laugh...  ;D

Football / Re: Separating Recreational Football from Professional Football
« on: February 16, 2006, 10:33:21 AM »
Some good points. But after getting the people to come to the games there needs to be a good product on the field. Some good, exciting quality football. Because if the people come out and the only good thing happening is a good time in the stands they will decide to just go somewhere else to party. So the quality of the football must improve as well.

True... quality of football would increase once there is more competitiveness...an this is the spark that vital for a good league
to keep people coming and to make players want to play....

Yuh could have all the fuel coming in the engine but if there is no spark.... we ent goin no where (SI engine ofcourse)

Don't get me wrong... development have to be at the same time.. but we missin that extra ingredient...
dat is why we need marketing to get people to identify wit the teams... I feel at this point that is the first order of business otherwise the league would remain stagnant and functioning mainly to exhibit players trying to get a contract elsewhere...

Also the quality of the entertainment...i.e the football match must be of value to the individual.

Value is measured on three levels functional, emtional, self worth.......functional being what use/enjoyment am I getting from this, emotional.......mentally how does this satify me and self worth......how does this make me feel and look in the eyes of others.

Touches well said man..

TI the regional idea is good.... I see it more as a marketing strategy though....

Like here at Auburn University....the University Football (American) Team alone could fund our world cup campaign from ticket sales (105 000 capacity)  from just 2 games.... against arch rivals University of Alabama and University of Georgia... why people support it so much??? the team offers a sense of regional identity.... an this state produces alot of good players (american football ofcourse)

When I was in Barcelona... I fed up hearin the Catalan media using the team as a symbol of Catalan spirit.... it workin though
Even smaller Espanyol feeds off of their spirit

I feel that T&T alone is not enough... The Caribbean region as a whole should be considered...
Try to encourage football in the Caribbean region would benefit us... use nationalism...
Even if it start wit de big teams in the PFL in ah Caribbean league.... People would be more interested in going to those games.
The more interest and competition between the islands could benefit us all...

We get people to the games.. more money and spirit to local football.... hence more incentive for players...
And I feel the community would return the favour (sponsors would be more eager) ....

Unless you are a local player playing to get a big break to Europe the PFL doesn't offer much in terms of spirit and financial reward right now....not enough incentive

Programs would only be effective if incentive is there...

Anyways that is my crazy idea....it is possible but would take time to develop

Maybe dey should jus chill an play it safe... dey only settin demselves up as usual..

Football / Re: The Soca Warriors Need A Reserve Team !
« on: February 04, 2006, 08:03:03 PM »
I tink is a good idea but from what it sound like ...dis recent trainin camp had a few players like Whitley, Spann and ting but de rest could be considered the B team.... Leo say he goin an continue trainin the local based players tru till May, den dey goin to Manchester then Austria.... most of dem players could be considered de B team really....
That would make the rest of de players on Trinfiniti list more like a C team... although I hadda admit... some ah dem players on dat list deserve better ....
whether dey should play against each other (A and B or whatever).... I ent go mind seein dat...

By de way... How serious the trainin for de local players does be when Leo ent there? Is a small goal sweat or serious playin?
Anybody back home know???
