Football / T&T Stadiums
« on: June 10, 2021, 10:31:56 AM »
Aye Warriors,

totally off topic from the current football drama going on maybe but I'm curious of some "talk" I heard a while back that just came back up.

The Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima has a practice field -just outside the stadium's compound.
I've heard that it's probably one of, if not the worst of the lot and it's become hopeless at this point.

The talk was that the community basically took it over in a sense.
The gate isn't secured and the fence had holes in it, so any and everybody could have go and take a sweat on it

Is this remotely true???

Football / Birchall backs Becks role

Birchall backs Becks role
Former Brighton man would consider a return to England

LA Galaxy's Chris Birchall believes England will benefit from David Beckham's presence at the World Cup this summer.

Galaxy midfielder Beckham will not be a member of Fabio Capello's playing squad after rupturing an Achilles tendon during a loan spell at AC Milan that was designed to improve his international credentials.

But the 35-year-old has been invited to travel to South Africa as part of England's backroom staff in order to act as a go-between for coaches and players.

It has been suggested by some critics that Beckham's attendance will only attract unnecessary attention, but Birchall thinks that the veteran of three World Cups has a role to play.

He said in an interview broadcast on Sky Sports News: "David has had his troubles in the last few months with his injury. Everyone here (Galaxy) knew how hard he was working to get into the World Cup squad.
Respect

"Coming from Capello, the experience he has, if he wants him there it is going to be a great addition to the squad.

"Players in the England squad look up to him and respect him."

Birchall only moved to the MLS last summer from Brighton, but he has been attracting interest from England and he would give thought to a return.

He added: "There is an option in my contract that if a club did come in before the end of June then it would be something that I would think about.

"I am enjoying my football, but obviously I have got to think about my family.

"If an option did come up and it was a good move for me and my family then I would have to speak to the coach here and see what was the case."

Yo forumites,

hear this....had to bring it to all ya attn. cause i figure only men like Tallman and Flex hear bout it....

lemme get straight to it:

At the end of the super league season ( or so we thought, more on this later!!), the top 6 teams go into the draw for the Toyota Classic tournament which includes the PFL teams(which i think includes all the teams in the league).
So the super league season is winding down, 1 official round left, but some teams have a game or maybe 2 in hand to finish up. So teams fighting for the final couple spots.
Public, T&TEC, Harvard and Phoenix r safe... and Defence Force pretty much there already. The final spot looks like it may have been a fight between Queen's Park, Economy Strikers, St. Francois, Club Sando n WASA maybe....

So the last round of games is this weekend coming. So of course plenty sides have a lot to play for still!!
only this week, the word we got was the PFL wants the top 6 teams as of this week here...and whoever is the top 6 now, makes it!!!! as opposed to waiting til all the games play out officially!!!!
how this happen? and how this being let off i dont know!??
was hopin Flex or one of all ya could school me on this one, other than the fact that the PFL is managed extremely poorly...thas a given!

sad enuff, we jus had to laugh it off and do what we have to do at this stage...Last game is just a formality.

Football / The Sex Video XI
« on: August 06, 2009, 06:12:13 PM »
Ya cant make this stuff up...All ya...the first one alone..WTF!
(link: http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/2007/09/the_sex_video_x.html)

Pies puts together a team of players who we have seen much more of than we ever wanted to!

Stefan Postma
When footballers sex videos make it into the public domain, embarassment is to be expected. But you unleash a whole new world of shame on yourself when said video contains footage of your girlfriend taking you from behind with the aid of a strap-on. Step forward, Stefan Postma. It could only happen to a Dutch goalkeeper.

Russell Hoult
The then Derby County keeper was filmed having a threesome with a blonde and his mobile phone-wielding mate wearing nothing but his club polo shirt. As you can imagine, his wife and two kids were probably not best pleased when the story made the tabloids.

Ben Alnwick, Chris Brown and Liam Lawrence

The trio were the culprits of the infamous Sunderland orgy sex tape. The seven-minute video features the players having sex with a 16-year-old brunette, with Brown providing a Match of the Day-style commentary throughout!

Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Kieron Dyer
The England trio got over the disappointment of missing Kevin Keegan's Euro 2000 squad by hitting Ayia Napa. While partying in Cyprus (with a group of footballers including Jody Morris, Jason Euell, Michael Duberry and Jonathan Woodgate) the trio ended up in a hotel room with a group of Spanish girls and a camcorder. As often happens in these cases, the camera was mysteriously stolen and again ended up with the tabloids.

Mark Bosnich
In a secretly rigged-up camera at Dwight Yorke's house, Bosnich was filmed enjoying an orgy with four women and Yorke himself. The video featured the Aussie keeper being whipped and wearing a dress!

Stan Collymore
In contrast to the stolen camcorders of some of his Sex Video XI team-mates, fame-hungry Collymore actually had an injunction taken out against him to stop him selling a sex video to the tabloids. TV presenter, and Sven's former bit-on-the-side, Ulrika Jonsson went to court to prevent Collymore making public a video filmed on holiday in Jamaica.

Leroy Lita
Pies told you yesterday about the Reading striker filming himself having sex on his mobile phone and sending the video to his team-mates. The one minute, 53 seconds clip is know on the mobile phones of footballers all over the country.

Swansea City Striker Jason Scotland Linked With Wigan Athletic & Burnley - Agent
goal.com

Roberto Martinez could be planning a transfer raid on his old club, although his potential target is also piquing interest elsewhere in Lancashire...

Wigan Athletic and Burnley are both keeping close tabs on Swansea City striker Jason Scotland, who has enjoyed a prolific couple of seasons in League One and the Championship with the Welsh outfit.

Roberto Martinez was today confirmed as the Latics' new boss, and the Spaniard could be set to annoy fans of his old club by prising the Trinidad & Tobago international away from the Liberty Stadium.

However, the player's agent has revealed that Athletic are not the only outfit chasing the striker, as Burnley, desperate to increase numbers and quality in their squad ahead of a potentially challenging debut campaign in the Premier League, are also weighing up a bid for the player.

Clarets boss Owen Coyle worked with the striker with Falkirk in Scotland, for whom the target man played before joining the Swans. Agent Mike Berry has hinted that the two Lancashire clubs are potential suitors today.

"I’ve heard nothing official but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Roberto came in for Jason because he has had him before," Berry told Setanta Sports.

"I know that Roberto rates Jason very, very highly and thinks that he can play at the highest level so it’s a case of ‘watch this space’ really

"The other interesting one is Owen Coyle at Burnley who I know is very, very interested in Jason having had him before at St Johnstone. Once again, it’s a case of watch this space."

Premier League Cash In Jeopardy As Setanta Cancel Subscription Service – Report

The broadcaster is reported to be facing administration...

9 Jun 2009 15:20:48

Ireland-based sports broadcaster Setanta have cancelled their subscription services; an act that could have implications for an imminent payment owed to the Premier League in broadcasting fees for next season.

There has been widespread speculation in recent weeks over the longevity of Setanta and the BBC are even reporting that the company are "on the brink of collapse".

The broadcaster owes £30 million for landing one of the six football packages for the 2009-10 season, but will only be able to fund the deal if backers finance it.

An official spokesperson has refused to supply a comment on whether or not the company face administration. Setanta have 1.2m estimated subscribers, however, they are allegedly losing over £100m every year.

Would-be subscribers receive an automated message when they attempt to sign up, stating, "The service is temporarily out of order."

Setanta also broadcast other sports such as golf, rugby and cricket.

Morris angry with Petrotrin for denying Martin.
By: Nigel Simon (Guardian).
[/size]

Clayton Morris, coach of the national Futsal (five-a-side football) was left fuming after United Petrotrin’s goalkeeper, Perry Martin was forced to withdraw from the 12-man squad for the Concacaf Futsal Final Round Qualifiers.

Morris had included Martin as one of two goalkeepers in his team which will depart for Guatemala on Saturday for the June 3 to June 8 eight-team tournament.

Contacted yesterday Morris said that he is finding it very difficult to understand why Martin, who has not featured in any of Petrotrin’s Pro League matches so far this season is not being allowed to travel with the team.

Morris added, “He (Martin) has been playing and training with the team for a while now and ironically I was the person who took him to the club after the first Futsal tournament in T&T, in 2004.

“The guy is going to represent his country at the international level and I can’t understand why they’re putting so much pressure on him.”

Reached for comment, Evans Cadogan, manager of the Petrotin team said that the final decision is for Martin to make.

Cadogan added, “He is a contracted player with our professional football team and while the Pro League will be on a break until the end of June, we still have training sessions schedule.

“Martin is currently in season and our officials at the club would not like him to go and play small goal football at this point in time, ended Cadogan.

However, Morris pointed out that Martin travelled with the team to the Concacaf qualifiers four years ago and it was no problem then.

Instead, the 22-year old Real Salt Lake forward is now poised to join the United States Olympic team camp for the upcoming CONCACAF final round qualifiers.

Findley, born in the US to TT parents, was invited to join the national team for the upcoming international friendlies against El Salvador on March 19 here and the away match to Jamaica on March 26 in Kingston.

Football / Joe Public vs Harvard --super league ---Public collect 5!
« on: June 17, 2007, 09:26:04 PM »
went and take in this game in the Marvin Lee today...

say it woulda been a close battle...it was nowhere near that for most of the game...
Harvard won 5-2

eh know how J.Public was leadin the league....it early still...

J.Public went up first after the keeper made a ok save....but he push it up and behind him..not far enuff since it landed int he box for a easy tap in...
then Harvard score a serious bullet up in the V's from Saeed de Freitas and a J.Public man then got a 2nd yellow in like the 20th minute...that was it from there...
harvard do what they want...plus J.Public keeper look reaaalll unorthodox and shaky...tink d first string fella out...
he make one or 2 decent saves but look bad for a couple of dem...

Harvard play some good ball and Christian de freitas score a real nice one v one after a dred thru ball frmo "scoobay"(thas d name i know him as....though i THINK his name is Kareem De Freitas from St. Anthony's)

2nd half they come out same way...score 2 more bullet...Colin Roberts own was the best...the keeper almost break his back with that one...and comin to the end the keeper got sent off..they put in a outfield player to save since they used all 3 subs....and then Saeed(who score the first goal) hit a shot curling last post but it went stright thru the keeper hands...simple catch made difficult...he aint a keeper so....

jus had to try and post something on d super league...realise it doh get much fan fare
