As they like to say in trinidad, friend thing. Dennis lawrence and russell latapy was famous for that. I remember latapy excluding a lot of better options in favor of the local lads playing in the pro league, it’s almost like the crowd got in their ears by wanting to see their starlets in national colors.

I remember both fenderup and ranjitsingh being called up by Lawrence but he still insist and went with the two locals, not sure if Ross Russell was in his ears but I certainly wouldn’t doubt it, after all its trinidad we’re talking about where the nepotism has been known to reach toxic levels.

Sad if this is true!

Tough position these players were put in to learn and execute in a short time, but they gave their best given the circumstances.

This is not a critique but an honest question,
Is it that the previous members of the Futsal team were barred from the training pool because of the court case they won recently?

I heard only Jameel Neptune would have had experience in this format previously.

Fully agreed Tallman

And it's not a direct attack on Phillip and Foncette
But we need more options that will in turn improve the competition usually and improve the pool

Phillip on the tail end of his career and should be looking at a succession plan
Is it foncette? and if it is, who will be the 2-4 GKs to challenge him consistently

Really wish I knew what happened here.

In terms of what?
I meant in terms of representing us. Successive coaches show little to no interest. Wish I knew what the deal was.

Ditto
I've been asking that since he stopped getting called up pre-injury days

Heard ole talk but refused to believe it based on how it was being put out about work ethic. I highly doubt that is the real reason.

While Frenderup looks relatively solid. We need competition in that area.
Kelvin Jack seems to have his head screwed on correctly and seems like a proper professional
So i hope he gives Ranjitsingh the time of day before it's too late. He's heading into his prime after a serious injury --- the ship shouldnt have sailed yet on him

And we have limited options in that position to be coasting this way

Really wish I knew what happened here.

you mind expanding?

the story posted n the info about his injury seem self-explanatory

What I do know is he's going into a highly competitive GK Union with Blake and Bendik and Freese
So minutes may be scarce possibly.
Nothing against Ranjitsingh here as I been wanting him to get capped by T&T for years.
But realistically it's gonna be a battle going up against the GK of the year in Blake

The environment will be highly competitive which can seriously improve his talent as well as working with one of the best GK coaches in the business in Phil Wheddon.

Duncey Dennis failed to cap the lad, that’s what happened there. and every time think of this I get very angry to to point where I lose it just thinking about it. that man was truly a dummy, him and his whole clueless entourage.

BTW didn’t ranjitsingh suffer a season ending injury a few months ago, did he recover already?

I'd like to believe Philadelphia did their homework and that Ranjitsingh is good to go now

Yes, but the "what" is what is in question. Perception gap. Overblown situation in terms of perception.
I interpret your comments to mean that you are in agreement with Cruyff. I guess that you both are in a better position to judge having surely seen the young GG play. I have not, so until I do, I have to take your word that his is an "overblown situation in terms of perception". Thank you.

The crux of the matter is that a quid pro quo is not absent.

To correlate the non-existence/existence of a quid pro quo with the quality of the player is a distractor. Yuh could have a quid pro quo involving a decent player and have one for a mediocre player and have one for an average player. That's not my focus.

I've been on the ground in Coleraine. I don't have a blinkered view about this. Nor am I interested in having the wool pulled over my eyes or the footballing public's.

In this narrative, Fenwick himself has embellished reality and not for the first time.

I'm more interested in the process than the substantive outcome.

In other words, I am neither hating nor favoring. But we have to keep it real.

And I'm speaking for me, not Cruyff. Don't conflate our posts.

Curious on this one

You been at Corelaine and said TF embellishing

Cause eveybody wondering bout his statements how they're teh youngest to make a CL squad but a lil quick research and you can't find them youths on any game squads or team roster?

Thought it was just an academy and not the pro setup
Baffled how media havent really asked for more in-depth explanation on this from TF himself.

SOS to Dr Rowley! CMO accused of ‘sabotage’, as Warriors unable to train or book warm-up games
By Lasana Liburd (Wired868).

And that’s to say nothing of the illegal training sessions and pick-up matches that occur almost daily around the country.

Neither Dr Parasram nor Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh responded to Wired868’s request for comment on the complaints.

But then a big part of the problem, according to the insider, remains the perceived aloofness of the Ministry of Health’s senior officials.

This is baffling to me given what's going on with the national football team

Especially with CPL occuring not too long ago...
What is Cricket doing that football can translate into their policy and procedures?
Have football administrators reached out to the cricket board for advice on how to possibly proceed in advance?

And how are "illegal" sessions being conducted and even the simple small goal sweats, but our national teams can't?

Is it that the police services are fed up breaking these things up? and it's happening in main areas that are regularly travelled
Parks, school grounds...

i get the small community grounds sticky to police but ppl just bold-faced with it too

Wired868 tried to put a spotlight on it up not too long ago (the manner with which it was done was questionable) but the fact that there's been a drastic increase in the last few months --- before you couldnt pass stadiums, school grounds, savannah or King George n see men sweating----- now it's almost a sure thing!

Kids confused when you tell them you cant take em out but they seeing it happening!!

If they want to manage it where it can be done in small grp sessions for training ---- cool
but not small goal sweat for sweating sake ..i agree on that

PS. I almost fell out of my chair when Clark and cyrus claimed that DJW had a plan for football development by giving Stuart charles the responsibility to groom some under 15s as the crop for the future and Brian Williams agreed. they even praised his decision to abandoned the U23 and the rest of the football programs including the women just so he can concentrate on the U 15,

then I recall those same kids being mauled by venezeula and.....I believe it was panama in a tournament where they had not won a single game or even came close, yet these jokers sat there and thumbs up that charade as a good idea?

this is my sincere opinion and conclusion to our failure or success. our football will remain in trouble and our lads embarrassed all over the world if we don’t rid our football of these vermin masquerading as football ambassadors in trinidad and tobago.

they need to start by schooling these kids in a proper footballing environment with European or American coaching staff with a the proper nutritional, physical and mental program. that’s the only way forward.

Remember who their boss was....

and Clark is a known DJW "groupie" thru all the drama during his tenure

They paying a GK coach in Florida by the hour or will Marvin and Foncette be taking turns prepping each other? This doesn't strike me as a match to be cutting corners in the GK department.

So what happened? How did this play out?

Old school ways.

Not valuing the importance of a GK coach.
Ok, Kelvin Jack was unavailable. So what about the other GK coaches in the program??

Poor judgement on this one.
they probably trained themselves based on their experience.

WATCH: Former National Footballer now Coach, Angus Eve, says last evening's record-breaking defeat at the hands of the United States was not a good sign for national football.

https://www.youtube.com/v/XOvAoDbN2A8
listen to the rubbish this idiot is pushing, local vs foreign based. that’s all he got from the game, I thought we was supposed to be a team? this is exactly the sentiments that I alluded to in an earlier post, the egomania amongst our local football fraternity is an ever impending doom on the growth and developement of the game on the twin islands.

years ago before there were any such thing as local vs foreign there was north vs south vs tobago. The southern players would cry about being undermined by coaches who favored northern players, and Tobagonians would complain how their players are being marginalized and overlooked for trinidad born players. now in the 21st century it’s local vs foreign based. when would this divisive nonsense end?? aren’t we supposed to be one bloody team?

He is a T&T-based coach. Quite naturally that renders him an advocate for local players. And it's his place to advocate and to shed light on those players and their qualities. Coaches like Eve and Cooper are important cogs in the ecosystem. And that's also what was at play in the old days. You think Edgar Vidale wasn't going to lean on a player from his neck of the woods if he had observed that player intimately?

What I want to know is what advice Eve has for Sadoo.

Anyway, I don't think Eve is being out ah timing. Fenwick gambled. Some coaches don't gamble their reps. Fenwick had a lot of in-built insurance to geh way with this gamble.

Isn't Angus part of the national program presently? He's the head coach of the U20 ent?
This isnt a good look at all here
Even if he wasn't in the program currently...

I def. rate Angus amongst our local coaches and it's really unfortunate with covid he hasn't gotten the opportunity to carry out his current role.
I just think these comments were poorly timed and unnecessary from within the coaching fraternity

TTFA says T&T, USA friendly match on.
By Walter Alibey (T&T Guardian).

The T&T versus USA football match, carded for January 31, will go on as planned.

On the heels of the uncertainty created for the match, caused by an announcement on Thursday by US President Joe Biden that persons entering the United States are subjected to a mandatory 14-day quarantine period, a release from the T&T Football Association yesterday made it clear that the game is on.

According to the release on Friday said: "The TTFA has been in consultation with the US Soccer Federation in light of President Biden's Executive Order on Promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic and International Travel in the United States.

US Soccer Federation (USSF), in consultation with relevant Governmental agencies, has communicated that they do not have any concerns with the International Friendly scheduled for January 31st, 2021, and is looking forward to welcoming the T&T Senior Men's Team for Terry Fenwick's international debut as Head coach.

The TTFA thanks the US Soccer Federation for their vigilance in these matters and are happy with the COVID-19 protocol that will be in effect for the game. The protocol was quite extensive, even before the Executive Order was issued with multiple rounds of testing and controls being implemented."

Fenwick, who has fought to secure the international friendly encounter, told Guardian Media Sports on Friday that: "We have had no word from the US to confirm either way. I've not got anything else from the Normalisation Committee on the game, so we are preparing to travel next Thursday. We're putting things in place now and then we will be advised, I am sure within the next 48 hours from the US, whether the game will go ahead or not."

With the T&T team scheduled to spring into action in their first FIFA World Cup qualifying match on March 25 against regional neighbours Guyana away, Fenwick is desperate for action on the field as the bulk of his starting team, is still to be seen.

According to Thursday's executive order by the US president: "Anyone flying to the US will be required to present a negative coronavirus test before departing and quarantine on arrival. In addition to wearing masks, everyone flying to the United States from another country will need to test before they get on that plane, before they depart, and quarantine when they arrive in America."

Fenwick, the former San Juan Jabloteh and Central FC coach said recently that he has identified some 25 players in both the United States and the UK that he intends to use for the qualifiers, because they have been playing regularly, at a decent standard of play, and consistently, compared to the T&T players.

"Unless they move back the qualification game on the 25th of March, our preparation is now, we need to get moving, I need to see the players that are available for T&T, that are playing in the United States, some of which I have not seen yet (10 or 12 of them). I don't know what they will bring to the table, I don't know qualities they will bring over and above what we've already got, and the camp was basically catering for all of that information," Fenwick explained.

The match will be held under strict COVID19 protocols in Orlando Florida and will be followed by a live-in camp in Miami.

Upon the team's return to T&T, the Soca Warriors will finalize their preparation with two friendly matches against Caribbean opposition before their encounter with Guyana.

Meanwhile, the January Camp roster for the United States Men’s National Team just got smaller on Wednesday when the New York City FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson and Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris departed the team camp in Bradenton, Florida, USA.

Johnson has a minor knee strain and would not be fully fit for the match, while, Morris asked to be excused and received permission from head coach Gregg Berhalter. In Morris’ case, his departure has only fueled the speculation that he is off to Swansea City on a loan, as has been reported over the past few days.

That leaves 10 players on the roster for next week’s match, though the remainder of the roster will be filled from the U-23 roster that is also in the joint January Camp. Berhalter will not bring in any replacements.

Would love to hear some updates on this

What screening/quarantine process would the players and staff have to go through to make this game happen?
It's 7 days away as it is...

They should be travelling to Orlando like tomorrow? no?
and hoping some magic happens and the Visas are in order...

No rab. Just curious for more thorough updates.
Hopefully Sean Fuentes and the team can inform the public tom.

T&T target, Dayne St Clair, commits to Canada for Qatar 2022 W/Cup campaign.
Wired868.com

Minnesota United goalkeeper Dayne St Clair looks set to represent the Canada Men’s National Senior Team, rather than the Soca Warriors, for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying series.

St Clair was born in Pickering, Ontario but his father, Fabian St Clair, hails from Sangre Grande—so he could represent either nation. However, the 23-year-old US Major Soccer League (MLS) custodian looks to have decided on playing for his homeland. He was one of 32 players who joined a Canada national football team camp in Bradenton, Florida this week.

St Clair partnered ace Trinidad and Tobago attacker Kevin Molino in Minnesota’s Western Conference final finish this season but was never certain to join him on the international stage.

Although he was on the potential player pool of current Soca Warriors head coach Terry Fenwick and his predecessor, Dennis Lawrence, it is uncertain if either coach formally invited St Clair to join their respective squads.

Fenwick was appointed Trinidad and Tobago head coach in December 2019. But within a month’s time, St Clair was named in a provisional Canada Under-23 Team for the 2020 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Championship.

The Olympic competition were called off due to the Covid-19 pandemic but St Clair did not change allegiance.

At present, Canada are ranked seventh in Concacaf and 72nd in the global Fifa rankings. Trinidad and Tobago are 11th in Concacaf and 103rd in the world.

Still, Fenwick is not short of goalkeeping talent with India-based veteran Marvin Phillip, Police FC captain Adrian Foncette, Norway-based Nicklas Frenderup and another Minnesota custodian, Greg Ranjitsingh.

It was an injury to Ranjitsingh that gave St Clair the chance to shine in the MLS Western Conference Play Offs last season.

Trinidad and Tobago start their Qatar World Cup qualifying campaign at home to Guyana on 25 March in Group F while Canada host Bermuda on the same day in Group B.

Is Ranjitsingh in their plans for sure tho?
He's also not with Minnesota again. Got released around the same time Joevin got released from Seattle as well

Would have to disagree with our depth at the position tho.
Four options doesnt represent a deep pool as the article is suggesting. Especially when Ranjitsingh hasn't been capped and Frenderup hasnt really seen much action --- Anguilla wasn't a test

Marvin Phillip is about 50 now?.... :rotfl:

Matthew Woo Ling never even played for a local pro league team farless for a foreign one, he father must be a Chinese association member who have money?.

USA go give we a quick 7 in de first half and then Fenwick go defend for de next half, he go park de buss and then say de team play good.

Adrian Foncette.... :rotfl:

Jamal Jack should be selling breadfruit in Tobago, that's he calling.

Gary Griffith son is a political move maybe.

Shackiel Henry scored plenty goals, in India cricket league.

Jabari Mitchell aim to play in Europe, he ended up jobless..

Michel Poon-Angeron never played pro football in he live.

Denzil Smith is de best blind goalkeeper I ever saw.

Shannon Gomez is injury prone.

Duane Muckette does pass good, but he vision limited and close by, he cah pass more than 5 feet.

Ah have a feeling Fenwick go call back Brent Rahim.

Woo Ling played for AC POS dude and was training with the NT when Lawrence was there I believe

Covid kinda mess up Poon-Angeron next step in Argentina probably.

As much as I would have liked for him to be in the GK pool of options for us , I never realistically thought he or we were close to persuading him to come into the mix

It was a reach

I beg to differ. It only became a reach when he started performing well for Minnesota. There was ample opportunity for us to engage with St. Clair since he was in college, or even when he was on loan in the USL. But as is typical for us, we are not proactive. We need to reach out to these players earlier and build a relationship with them. How yuh think USA manage to get Sergiño Dest to play for them? granted we don't have an attractive program, but we could still do much much better.

Np
Agree to disagree then.
The idea could have been there but him being in the Youth system already would have played on his mind as well
he wasnt interested

Who knows if Ranjitsingh shared his experiences with him while there n all...who knows

but say what.
Terry said he have like 20 players to check on ent? hmm

Maybe Dernelle Mascall -- who worked as an asst. for a short period of time in the past at the national level since her retirement (Believe she started her own Academy as well)
&
Maylee Attin-Johnson --- not sure where she's coaching atm tho

Mollon had her own academy and as you know she's taken up the role in Anguilla

I don't know if they're fully qualified or not but I know they've been involved in coaching at some level

Females have limited opportunities to coach in Trinidad unfortuantely
even in the SSFL - male and female divisions -- can only think of a handful with some of the top teams (in the female division); probably none in the male divisions

Agreed.

There are other names as well. For instance Izler Browne.

Where is she coaching now?

Randy Waldrum without question and Maylee and Arin King as his assistants.

Talk done.

Why Shabaaz didn't say let a woman coach de women team when he was coach for them over 10 years, leh he hall he ass with that.

Pick the best person for the job, it's not about woman or man.

Arin would be retiring?

Shabaaz' input on these matters should be handled with a bag of salt sometimes
While he has the experience, still too many questions come up from the past with his relationships with DJW and the national programs

He needs to say those things with a lil more substance.
Can't just give any former player just so because they're a former player. This isn't a pickup side.

Def. consider them once they're in the coaching fraternity. But as i said before, more opportunity needs to be given -- be it coaching education and coaching roles -- at the local level/leagues

Talk talk - eligibility is one thing but are these so called identifiable foreign born players better or above the standards that a local player fighting to represent his country?

Foreigni bornshould not be a criteria for an automatic pass to the national team. The rigorous and process of selection should be in place for all players looking to represent TnT

Curious as to how they are scouted?
Do we have a video analysts team in place to compile games and clips of players that are sent to the coaches?

I know we had some scouts assisting the assoc. -- possibly pro bono --- before the NC situation.

Do the coaches here get their first look at these players when they reach in camp? or have they viewed their game footage prior to this?

Both good people - every time I talked to Ross he was about the potential for local football, especially on the Diego Martin Rec grounds. He was always inspiring with his vision of the future of football there.

Richard has the experience at all levels & probablt better suited
Ross seems like a respectable and genuine individual. Just have to watch out for who is behind the scenes with him calling the shots .

Ross Russell may be the bigger name but in terms of the role at stake, Richard Piper is def. more qualified with a wealth of experience as a referee, manager and administrator

Hugely favorable odds for these comments to be revisited. Just a matter of when and how often, but no doubt as to if.
