Elan, how you feel so qualified to comment on Latapy decision making and plans? Not fighting yuh down eh....I just want to know if you have more info than all de rest of we bout de dealings with TTFF and what Latapy trying to do or ask TTFF to do. Besides de couple substitutions in de games or de lineup or strategies employed in various parts of de games, how allyuh could find something else to analyze and blame Latas? Is not de same TTFF that giving trouble all these years? Granted Beenie is a big time coach, yuh ent see that when Jack decide he had to make de money at de last world cup yuh ent see how many things got put in place that were never there before? Yuh think Jack listen to Beenie outta respect? Jack wanted he money and put faith in Beenie to get him his money. Beenie coulda drop Jack mudder from de team, Jack wasn't going to say nutten. No other coach has ever gotten that support financially and backing for any managerial decisions. How under all these different scenarios we could judge Latas so fast and hold him accountable for things that TTFF been doing for years? It kinda looking like some people want Latas to fail, because all of we could see de problems but only some rushing to put all de blame where dey ent even sure it belong

Cacahole thread at best.  Ah woulda listen ah little more intently if de critics mention defensive roles and organization as key problems and question how Latas gonna fix that. The questions about preparation and bringing in foreign based players early and all that is pure tata. Yuh know FIFA have they regulations....we have a bunch of men fighting for starting roles or even bench roles on dey foreign teams...but we talking bout bringing men home early. From what I see the players did try to play a lil bit more possession and roll de ball around in de Costa Rica game. De Mexico game was a test..Mexico was desperate and at home in de Azteca and it hard to see what we could have done dey. We never get dem points in Mexico before, even though we looked better in a game under Beenie there before. Let de man do he wuk and allyuh question Ollie Camps and dem bout facking friendlies. Allyuh have info about what Latas request or any details of TTFF communications? This thread is real shit!!!!! I have confidence Latas will have we playing some nicer looking football and scoring more goals eventually.....my doubts are if he could improve our positional play defensively and make dem players respect their roles and show discipline in being where dey supposed to be, and do what dey supposed to defensively.  Instead of biding time and voicing opinions and concerns, man pretending dey know de whole story and coming with bullshit like this. Sam, yuh real slacking dread...ah go stop laughing at all yuh dotish joke and dem >:( >:(

We still have to understand that it is still a business and not slavery. Ah hope if Trent feel strongly enough about this he is also willing to deal with the consequences. Players really doh have much leverage in these contractual situations, but a POTY normally is given a lil more consideration than it seems here. While ah realize de need to adapt and show team spirit and sacrifice for your team at times, this kinda reeking of team not at all considering de damage dey doing to a player career at the worst possible time. Trust mih, ah was dey at 33 and is yuh last consideration as a player before de " old man " label kick in. Let we consider everything before we judge either de player or de team. Remember player does always get badtalk for showing no loyalty when dey leave, but if somebody better come along de team self push yuh out de door and it becomes just " a business decision "

Trust mih uncle palos, I not giving Latas a bly at all. i only of de opininon that we players so fundamentally inferior that they cyah be competitive unless they form a defensive shell a la Beenhaker. Top level friendlies ain't helping. That only giving de public more shit to talk bout. Whether is Beenhaker, Bertille, Latas, or Mats, we cyah play much constructive ball if we cyah really trap, pass, shoot, head, tackle at a accepatable level. To add to this we not as fit as de other teams. Training camp is what dem fellas need for bout a fecking year before dey play at a decent international level. I just waiting to see what uncle latapy painting look like on de 6th. I not in no lynch mob now, and never been for any of dem coaches. We players not ready to execute no game plan except to line up numbers in de back and hold off dem better teams. Ah hoping ah see a technical improvement by de 6th, then ah go look later for technical/tactical, then fecking coaching tactics

What if Latas really considering some drastic changes in personnel or formation? What if he really trying de 3-5-2 or a 5-3-2 or something? It might actually make sense to have a controlled scrimmage for de fellas to work on dey roles, runs, responsibilities etc. Might be too close and not have enough of his starting players available and ready for it to make sense to run down stronger opposition. Right now I see it as a case of we have to worry bout we and not so much bout scouting of Costa Rica or playing of similar opponents. Ah really waiting to see more and hear more bout Latas plans before ah willing to pass judgement. I woulda prefer a higher level game before we meet Costa Rica too, but not if it is deemed that de squad not ready for it. From his comments ah getting a feeling Latas trying to get every last minute to work on this team and preparing to play a serious friendly would take away a lot of the time he has to work on basic shit that international players shouldn't have to work on at this point................in other words it seem to me like a " international fundamental training camp" going on right now

Alan Cabral and he twin brother Colin went CIC from 81 to 86. Not sure what de odds are of 2 Alan Cabral in Trini. Dey had some older brothers that went CIC too( glen and ??) so ah doubt it was a senior and junior thing

The odds mightn't be that high. It could be the man son, nephew etc.

They have two Brian Davis and Michael Carews in TT, so they could very well have two Alan Cabrals in TT.

Peace,
VB

Yeah, I understand that.....was really trying to say ah doubt the older guy was really Alan because most times yuh name yuh oldest son Junior, not de 4th, especially if he is de 2nd delivered of a twin. Was just speculation cause panman George Goddard name all of 5 of he son George too....so it could have just as much Alan Cabral.

ACB......a player is not allowed to cover extended space or " make himself a bigger blocker " by extending his arms whether or not his back is turned. I am a Man U fan, couldn't care less who won yesterday or whether the referee really did decide to make the call. However, if I was the Chelsea player shooting that ball, ah woulda chase down de referee and make mihself look like an ass just like ballack did. Referee looked like he was out of his league and scared to affect the game.....and ended up doing what it looked like he was scared of in de worst, nightmarish way. Hope no cacahole mess with de man and he family, but he really annoy de fack out of a lot of people for real. Licks in Barca tun tun in Rome!!!

The whole good player to good coach thing is a blown out of proportion issue. Great, even good players usually get opportunities before they are supposed to based on their playing career. Coaching is very different from playing, so without the proper preparation most people would struggle at the higher levels of the game. I believe if they prepare and go through the ranks and learning process like " not so good " players before they get big time coaching gigs they will probably be the better coaches too.

Pardners,I wouldn't consider myself untrained, not that I am Capello either, and Anton is sqeezing juice out of concrete here. Let me tell you what I saw in these sessions. He has to work on all the fundamentals constantly while trying to build a team. These guys are not ready for high level ball. If a man can't control de ball properly at 15 to 16 yrs old, yuh think Anton could make him ready to go against professional players by coaching him 3 days a week for 6 mths? Man talking real shit here when dey judging results and games against quality competition. Plenty of these players look like all dey play is small goal...very few have a complete package to be worked on. Some could run fast, some could trap and cyah pass, some could head, some slow but could read de game, some have a good first touch but weighing 50 lbs. Anton and his staff have these men training hard, organized and understanding some structure for it looks like de first time. Like we doh understand youths in Trini does become stars by doing ONE thing spectacularly. When yuh reach a higher level that ONE trusty spanner or drag not going to make crowd scream and bawl out yuh name and win yuh games too often. Maybe Anton does just run a professional looking session and can't strategize and game plan with de top coaches, but I doh see how we could be sure of that when he working with players incapable for the most part of executing any high level game plan. I wish de youths de best but after all these years ah cyah understand why Trini people still refuse to see that our players are always under-developed technically and usually not afforded much useful tactical training in de formative years.

110
As disappointed as I am in de result, I have witnessed personally 2 weeks of Anton's sessions with these kids and he did a good job. Don't criticize based on de results only because there are a lot of other factors involved. These kids play ball all de time and under different coaches. I heard Anton screaming/begging/challenging/instructing these kids trying to break bad habits. This team has a bunch of good kids that lack the talent to compete with teams like Mexico. They have probably 5 to 7 players that are ready for that level and the rest are either struggling technically or physically. I bad talk Anton already too, but ah see de work he doing with mih own eyes and it look like he really trying with these youths. They just coming from far, real facking far. Training sessions were very organized and professional. Not sure of de selection process, or screening procedures but it hard to believe that this group is really de best 25 youths in de country. If Anton responsible for missing de better talent around de country let mih know please so ah could start to bad talk him again.

Just because Englishman like like big, strong  forwards, it doh mean KJ is really a forward yuh know. Look at de man runs, de lack of composure in dangerous situations around de goal. He have talent so he will make some things happen, but I feel he better as a bulldog winning ball in de midfield with a lil more time on de ball facing de field. He did it before and in no other top division in Europe would he survive as a starting striker. Even Altidore who mash we up getting loan from top side so he could get regular sweat. Trini does always let de best players choose de position dey like and not push them to play in their best positions. Carlos Edwards could be one of de top wingbacks in de world if he convinced to play there

Football / Re: Colin Rocke
« on: April 14, 2009, 11:20:13 AM »
Rocke was and probably still is a very simple fella with great talent. Sometimes people say things that come across ah little shaky without even realizing it. Even though he could have minced his words a lil bit, he was definitely good enough to talk like that. Unbelievable talent. Maybe lacked the courage to dominate at higher levels, but had all the tools to do so. Gatt hardly played with Kona. Rocke and Hackett with Choy Yuen, then Kona and Rocke, then Kona and Regis, then Regis and Gatt for c couple yrs before Gatt and young Rocke had a yr or 2. Rocke was de most talented and Kona was a superstar too, but Rocke really never scored a whole lot of goals. He would set up plenty, score a few, and have some of de most memorable, spectacular misses yuh could imagine. Kona score 21 a year and Regis score 18 the following year. Like de respect he give Latapy. Yorke may not be too pleased but ah feel dat is because Yorkie was a youth man coming up after Rocke. Good to read bout a real youth legend. Did well as a senior player(could vouch for dat cause ah played against him in college), but should really have accomplished more.

If Kenwyne was not Trinidadian more people than not, would have callin him overated! Which he is! He needs tuh change positions tuh a more defensive role if he dos not plan on improving the skills necessary to produce as a forward. Who vex, vex!

Been saying that for a while. He not seeming any more like a true forward after a few years. strength and size could only carry yuh so far. Maybe defensive midfield to brutalize and command some fear?

Babalwo, if you is de manager of a bank and de assistant manager tell yuh to take some of de bank money, invest it wisely to make some more money for de bank, and that de bank will love yuh for doing that, will you do it? If you do, yuh think de assistant manager getting de jailtime? He getting your job, while you fighting off bullerman in prison. Yuh think Maturana that stupid? Even if Jack Warner order Latas to call de shots and Maturana to stay as a figurehead coach if he want to collect all he money without resigning, yuh doh think de changes man talking bout coming now woulda happen already? Even if Latas say he think so and so capable of doing de job, yuh doh think Mats was around long enough to process that info and say " nah, ah feel ah going with this sadist on dat position" ?????

Anybody who feel Latapy wasn't in charge of selections in de Hex?  Serious?

Anyway....we go soon find out.

That is what i was quarrelling last night on work!!

But as it goes........we do well because of Latapy and we play shit because of Maturana!

Some people on this site fail to realise that if Latas wanted Glen on de team, Glen would have been there.  But they talking about how Matas is ah shit hound for not picking Glen (who was playing shit by de way......lol)

ah love it!!

Exactly

There is no way Latas was picking squad for dem last few games. No way! Allyuh hear bout other head coaches that let assistants set them up against they will to lose big games? Or assistant coaches that know dey might get de job if de head coach get fired that stick dey neck out to help de head coach keep he job? Let we just wait to see what happens now because Latas is named officially as the decision maker now. Whoever advises him, or limits his options as far as players not responsible for Latapy's decisions as he was not responsible for Maturana's. If yuh not satisfied with the tools given to do yuh job , say so, or don't accept the job. HEAD COACH mean responsibility ultimately rests with you for final decisions!
