Football / Should Tobago United be reglated ?
« on: November 21, 2008, 11:53:00 AM »
Should Tobago United be relegated ?

They were bottom last for 6 seasons.

St Clair Coaching School or Stoklet Vale could take their place in the Pro League. Or better yet, fire Peter Granville cause he not imporving Tobago ballers at all.

They conceded

63 (2008), 80 (2007), 84 (2006), 69 (2005), 123 (2004) and 114 (2003)

They Scored

25 (2008), 25 (2007), 21 (2006), 21 (2005), 13 (2004), 30 (2003)

Question, was there ever a Tobago United player to represent T&T at senior international level ?

Over 600 immigrants granted residency.
By: Anna Ramdass (Express).

Over the past 32 years, a total of 643 immigrants, including 470 Chinese, were granted approvals for residency in this country.

In response to a question on the Order Paper, Minister in the National Security Ministry Donna Cox said yesterday the records indicate that between July 1, 1976, and September 30, 2008, a total of 643 nationals of China, Ghana (8), Nigeria (164) and Cameroon (1) were granted approvals for resident status in this country.

Cox added that over the past six and a half years, 172 immigrants of those nationalities were detained by the Immigration Division for being in this country illegally.

She said 79 were detained for illegal entry, while 93 were detained for entering the country and overstaying their allotted time.

Cox also indicated that over the last three years, 56 people working in security or construction firms were detained as illegal immigrants, and of that total, two were working in security firms and 54 in construction firms.

"In such cases where it was discovered that persons are working illegally in the country, the owners of the employing firm or company are served initially with a warning and random monitoring is undertaken," she said.

She added that in the event that the illegal practice continues, prosecution is initiated.

"The Minister of National Security has not received or been advised of exploitation of illegal immigrants at such job sites," Cox said.

"The records of the Immigration Division do not suggest that there is a rampant influx of illegal immigrants" she added.

Cox said with the cooperation of law enforcement agencies and law abiding citizens, together with the ongoing recruitment drive aimed at strengthening capacity within the Immigration Division, it is envisaged that the issue of illegal immigrants will be properly addressed.

The Untouchable in pursuit of The Unspeakable.
By: Andrew Jennings.

A shiver will likely shimmy down Sepp Blatter’s spine at 10.30 tomorrow morning - three years to the minute since Swiss fraud squad detectives burst through his Zurich office door waving a search warrant.

The police, investigating allegations of misuse of FIFA funds, were seeking incriminating documents. A report is expected to go to prosecutors in the New Year. The raid is understood to have been conducted under Article 158 of the Swiss Penal Code which carries penalties of up to five years jail.

The raid was triggered by the collapse of a Swiss company that over nearly three decades had defeated all rivals to acquire FIFA’s lucrative World Cup marketing rights. The liquidator, Thomas Bauer from Ernst & Young, dug into the company’s bank records and discovered that a gigantic £70 million worth of kickbacks had gone to sports officials.

When Bauer demanded that some FIFA officials repay their bribes a bank account set up by Sepp Blatter’s lawyer channelled more than £1 million back to creditors. Investigating magistrate Thomas Hildbrand, who led the raid, is probing allegations that FIFA money was used to repay the bribes. FIFA has never admitted that it is the target of a complex corruption investigation.

In June 2006, on the eve of the World Cup, I confronted Blatter at Zurich airport and asked him, ‘Why did FIFA pay back the bribes?’ Blatter declined to answer. The BBC filmed the exchange and it was screened world-wide. Blatter didn’t sue.

If charged, Blatter would have to resign the FIFA presidency, to be followed speedily by Julio Grondona and Jack Warner, chair and deputy of FIFA’s finance committee. The tectonic plates of world football would shift and the subsequent quake throw up new leadership – and require new strategies for countries such as England bidding to stage the 2018 World Cup.

FIFA’s reputation is deteriorating in Switzerland. In the spring of this year six marketing executives, some of whom organised paying the bribes to FIFA officials, went on trial accused of embezzling money due to FIFA. The court cleared most of them but ruled that FIFA had misled the police and ordered it to pay £57,000 towards the costs of the investigation.

Watch the fortunes of the wondrous new Westfield shopping mall that opened last Thursday at Shepherds Bush in West London. If shoppers feeling the pinch stay away, will the developer Frank Lowy – controversial billionaire chair of the Australian football federation and new favourite of Sepp Blatter - be able to raise the cash to build his other planned mall in London, the £1.5 billion Olympic Gateway in Stratford, East London? It’s a key part of the 2012 Olympic site.

In early July, before the banks stopped lending, Lowy was Gordon’s Brown’s guest at Downing Street for a ceremonial signing of the Olympic contract to build 300 shops.

US big on trade with T&T.
RAPHAEL JOHN-LALL

In 2007, two-way trade between T&T and the US totalled US$10.4 billion.

The US imported US$8.7 billion worth of goods and services from T&T.

T&T imported US$1.7 billion worth of products from the US.

The above figures support the view of John Ries, head, economic section at the American Embassy, that T&T has a favourable investment-friendly climate.

He expects this to continue.

On July 4, not only will Americans celebrate their 232nd Independence Day, but the US will also recognise its strong business relations with T&T.

“Our assessment of the investment climate in T&T has been favourable for quite a while. We always have a very clear statement that this is an investor-friendly environment and has a history of that.”

Ries said Americans have a long history of involvement in T&T’s energy sector, going back to the early 20th century when this country had just started oil production.

Ries said Americans were pivotal in getting T&T’s LNG projects off the ground.

“There were American companies involved in getting LNG off the ground. One of them was Cabot Corporation. Samuel Bodman, US Energy Secretary in his private life back in the early 1990s was the CEO of Cabot Corporation and was involved in the consortium that got Atlantic off the ground,” he said.

Ries pointed out that on average, two-thirds of American LNG imports come from Trinidad, there are five terminals operating on the east coast and Gulf Coast of the US and every one of these terminals gets its gas out of Trinidad.

Ries said if T&T chooses to expand production, the US hopes it would continue to be a customer.

Although T&T has an energy-based economy, Ries hopes that continued American investment will stimulate other sectors of the economy.

“In Point Lisas, the downstream industry has attracted a lot of interest over the years. There has been interest in ethanol production, manufacturing, food and beverage and electrical goods,” he said.

The Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI) was initiated by the 1983 Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act and came into effect on January 1, 1984. The original aim was to provide tariff and trade benefits to Caribbean and Central American countries. It has been updated and amended several times since then.

In 2000 the US Congress passed the Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act (CBTPA). This legislation extended duty-free treatment to a number of manufactured products not previously covered: among them clothing and footwear.

Ries said one way in which the region has benefited and its economies have been able to diversify is through the CBI.

For T&T, the CBI affords duty-free treatment for more than 30 per cent its US exports. This category includes LNG, which enters the US duty-free because the normal tariff rate for this product is zero.

Trinidadian companies such as Caribbean Safety Products, which manufactures protective wear such as hats, gloves and coveralls, have had its products enter the US duty-free because of the CBI.

As of 2007, we have two way trade in the
order of US$10.4 billion. Breaking that down, it’s about US$8.7 billion that the US imports from T&T and about US$1.7 billion the US has exported to T&T. That’s a big trade deficit for us and a major transfer of resources to T&T

Strengthening ties with US

Angostura also benefited from the CBI. Angostura bottles rum for a major US spirits distiller and then exports it duty-free to the US.

Trinidad Bulk Traders, an Angostura subsidiary, produces fuel ethanol for the US market and CBI provisions allow Caribbean countries to export ethanol duty-free to the US.

CBI-eligible countries can provide up to seven per cent of US demand for fuel ethanol. At the moment, Caribbean countries are providing only half the quota while the US demand for fuel ethanol is rapidly expanding.

The CBI also allows American taxpayers to deduct the cost of attending a business meeting or convention in T&T without having to meet the more stringent tax rules that usually apply to foreign convention clauses. This gives incentives to American businesses to carry out business in the region.

“T&T has benefited from the Caribbean Basin Initiative for about 25 years, which is a set of one-way trade preferences. Goods from Trinidad and other qualifying countries enter duty-free even though we would apply tariffs if those goods were coming from other countries.

“The idea is to create some incentives to invest in Caribbean countries.”

T&T is also part of the Caricom region which is moving towards a single market and economy.

Ries said Americans have an interest in the success of the Caricom Single Market and Economy (CSME) because it would make business with the region easier.

“There is a lot of interest in the Caricom Single Market and Economy and I think you find a lot of support within American businesses to want to see that process move forward.

“If the region comes together into a larger market, it’s easier to do business. There are niche opportunities available to the Caribbean.”

While Americans have used the CBI as a platform to increase trade and develop local industry in the region, in terms of overall hemispheric trade, the US has led the way in advocating the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA).

Negotiations for the FTAA was supposed to have been completed by 2005, but have stalled because of disagreements among some of the larger Latin American countries over the agreement’s pros and cons.

Americans have argued that the FTAA would cover the entire hemisphere and increase Latin American and Caribbean countries’ trade capacity and strengthen economies and create jobs.

Ries believes the FTAA has not developed as Americans have wanted, opting instead for bilateral and regional trade agreements.

“We have negotiated between the US and Central American countries a free trade agreement and Dominican Republic (DR/Cafta). This means those countries have taken the step vis-a-vis the US that Cariforum has taken vis-a-vis Europe, which is to say, graduating from one-way trade preferences to a reciprocal trade agreement.”

He believes a free trade agreement with T&T would be very good.

“I think that would be a great thing to shoot for. It certainly is what we would have hoped to be seeing in the context of the FTAA. That hemispheric process is not really moving forward.

“The US Government’s approach on this over the past few years has been we have to be pragmatic about this and deepen free trade relationships where we can. And if it has to be at a regional level or bilateral level, then we would do that.”

American trade and
investment with T&T:

In 2007 two-way trade between the two countries amounted to US$10.4 billion
US imports US$8.7 billion from T&T

US exports US$1.7 billion to T&T

About US$4 billion are invested in T&T
A 2007 American survey of 12 Trinidad-based companies showed that there is investment of close to US$800 million geared towards producing for the US market

Big $$ for illegal pets.
Jaguars, anteaters, monkeys smuggled.
By: Kimberly Castillo kcastillo@trinidadexpress.com.

The 172 birds that were seized from a pet store in Freeport last Saturday were just a small indication of what is happening on a larger scale.

"The illegal trade of wildlife in Trinidad and Tobago is off the charts, it's worse than anyone could imagine," said one source.

The illegal trade in wildlife has been existing and flourishing in Trinidad ad Tobago for over a decade. As each year passes, the trade grows. It has become one of the easiest ways of getting 'quick money'. The Express was reliably informed that the trade in this country brings in on average US$10 million, annually. In fact, Trinidad and Tobago is considered to be the largest player in the trade of illegal wildlife in the Caribbean.

The illegal trade in wildlife in turn sustains many other activities including the trade in drugs and ammunition.

The trade involves the smuggling of exotic and endangered wildlife from South America such as ocelots, macaws, black panthers, jaguars, various types of monkeys, including the Spider Monkey, Burmese pythons, tapirs and capibaras.

"What happened in Freeport was just the tip of the iceberg," said Alan "Snakeman" Rodriguez, former supervisor at the Asa Wright Nature Centre. Rodriguez agreed that the illegal trade in wildlife was a major issue in Trinidad and Tobago that needs to be confronted head-on.

Animals are brought in as many as three times a week, depending on the order. Thousands of animals come from the South American coastline each month. The large pirogues that bring in the wildlife operate like fishing boats. The men on these boats meet the 'suppliers' halfway and a quick swap is made and over 50 crates with animals crammed inside, are packed onto the vessels.

Jaguars fetch between, $75,000 - $125,000, ocelots: $20,000-$25,000. Porcupines and anteaters- $10,000. Tapirs and capibaras: $15,000 - $25,000. Toucans can bring in $4500 - $7500 and monkeys such as the Spider and dwarf monkey and the red howler cost between $15,000 - $30,000.

The animals are seen not as endangered but as dispensable. These very same operators, to avoid being caught by the Coast Guard, often throw crates with live animals overboard. A source who agreed to speak with the Express only on the basis of anonymity said as recent as February, fishermen in Icacos made a gruesome discovery.

"The fishermen's nets were spread out a mile, and when they brought them in, they found crates with dead ocelots, macaws, monkeys, porcupines, anteaters, toucans, smaller birds and tapirs, there were around 250 animals in those nets," he said. He said the fishermen complained that it was the fifth time for the year that they came upon such a discovery.

"Ordinary people are not involved in this, the individuals involved have so much money that they don't know what else to do with it. It's people in high places, even some people who are supposed to be protecting these very animals are involved in smuggling them into the country....the system in this country is so lapse, nothing is being done to put a stop to it, the police certainly don't have the time, resources, facilities and personnel to deal with this trade which is of a large magnitude."

To bring in an endangered animal one must apply for a license by satisfying a number of requirements. The individual must explain why he wants to own an endangered animal. The majority of people owning endangered wildlife in this country are not in possession of licences and can be fined $10,000. However, Express was told that first time offenders get off with a slap on the wrist, only paying $1,500.

"You can't stop man's fascination with animals. There must be rigid control of smuggling, we live right next door to South America and animals are brought in from that country all the time. I think the judiciary needs to review the fines they charge people who smuggle animals," Gupte Lutchmedial, president of the Manatee Conservation Trust and the Zoological Society of Trinidad and Tobago, told the Express .

However, laws are not enforced and people still go ahead purchasing animals they should not have. The Express found out that it's very easy to own an endangered animal such as a macaw. At a pet store in the east, the Express was told that to own a macaw or a toucan, all that was needed was for the owners to make an order and wait a few days.

The trade is devastating for the animals. They are taken from their natural habitat in South America and confined in small crates. The Express recently came upon a wildlife rehabilitator who was in the process of giving medical attention to a baby macaw who was smuggled to Trinidad. Because the macaw was crammed in a small crate, its back was broken in three places, its legs were broken in six places, at only eight weeks old, the macaw was malnourished and its right shoulder was dislocated.

David Boodoo, of the Wildlife Section, said the seizure of the birds in Freeport is part of an ongoing exercise to stamp out the trade in wildlife.

He said: "Apart from the diseases they can bring, the animals are suffering, unless you have a permit you should not have an endangered animal, it is illegal."

T&T-born makes England rugby team.
By: Gregory Trujillo.

Another sportsman with T&T roots has hit the headlines in England.

Danny Ciparani, a 20-year-old whose father is understood to be still living in Tobago, will be wearing the No 10 jersey for England tomorrow in the Nations Rugby Cup against Ireland.

Ciparani, whose parents are separated, will be replacing fly-half Johnny Wilkinson, aged 28, who has been regulated to the bench.

Described as a rising star, Ciparani is the only change made by coach Brian Ashton to the team which started the 15-9 defeat by Scotland.

Wilkinson has only previously been dropped by England for the 1999 World Cup quarterfinal loss to South Africa.

Wilkinson has been one of the top English ruggerites for a decade. He is the David Becham of rugby in England. World Cup-winner, Wilkinson set a new record—1099—for the most points scored in Test rugby in the defeat by Scotland but was widely criticised after a poor display.

Ciparini will be making his debut against Ireland and is hoping to fill the boots of Wilkinson in the future.

The 20-year-old Wasps player has won two caps as a replacement during this Six Nations and will be making his first start for England.

“Danny has been playing exceptionally well at ten for Wasps and was due to play last week but managed to side-step that one,” Ashton quipped.

“He is pretty quick on his feet and hopefully we will see him now at long last out on the field in a starting XV.

“He has a vast range of skills and hopefully he will have good authority in terms of his decision-making and his work without the ball. He is going to have to defend as well as attack.”

If Cipriani can justify the lavish promise of his Wasps displays tomorrow, he will be in pole position for England’s daunting two-Test tour to New Zealand this summer.

Ashton’s decision is a remarkable turnaround for Cipriani.

Originally selected to start against Scotland at full-back, many felt he was harshly treated when axed 48 hours before the game after being seen leaving a nightclub past midnight.

Head coach Ashton maintained that Wilkinson, 28, will not be made a scapegoat for the Calcutta Cup calamity.

“This might seem bizarre but I don’t consider him dropped because he is on the bench and still an integral part of our squad,” Ashton said.

“He is covering ten and 12 and could come on in the first five minutes and win us the game.

“I have got a tremendous amount of confidence in his ability to bounce back and show himself to be a very confident international player again.”

Sunderland AFC awaits Caribbean U-20 footballers.

England Premier League Club, Sunderland AFC is eagerly awaiting the imminent arrival of the six Caribbean U20 footballers who will be spending a week at the Premier League club’s Academy of Light following the conclusion and final selection of the Digicel Kick Start Football Clinics in Jamaica.

Speaking from Sunderland, Club Chairman and former Irish International star, Niall Quinn, said, “This is a great opportunity for young footballers in the Caribbean to have a chance to experience life at a Premier League Academy. The six players chosen from the clinics will work with the youth team at Sunderland and see what is needed in order to try and make their dream of playing in the English Premier League a reality in the future.

Sunderland Academy Manager Ged McNamee added, “Given the feedback we have received, we are all looking forward to meeting the players and see them perform. Being involved in the Digicel Kick Start Football Clinic has also helped us to strengthen our Caribbean connections that we have been building over the past number of years through players like Kenwyne Jones, Carlos Edwards and Dwight Yorke.”

The level of talent at each of the eight Digicel Clinics has far exceeded original expectations with strong contenders in each of the countries the Digicel Clinics has visited. The Digicel clinics Caribbean tour, which ended on Saturday February 16, visited eight countries in the region: Guyana, Haiti, Barbados, St. Kitts, Antigua & Barbuda, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica.

On Saturday February 23, Digicel Clinics’ Head Coach John Barnes will announce the select six chosen to train at Sunderland AFC’s Academy of Light for one week in March 2008. The announcement will take place in Kingston, Jamaica and will be attended by CFU President, Jack Warner and Digicel Group CEO, Colm Delves.

Entertainment & Culture Discussion / Shakira coming to Tobago...

Football / Which T&T schools produce the best stars.
« on: January 22, 2008, 03:41:50 PM »
Seeing that everyone attack me in my last poll. I am trying to redeem myself now, so allyuh go easy.

Which school produced the most successfully best T&T players.

Please dont be bias like a typical Brazilian fan and vote for your school, I went to Benedicts but I voted for St Anthony's.

I know many good players came from Jr. and Senior Sec and ended up in college, so maybe you can mention that as well.

Like Anthony Sherwood went to Vessigny and then Presentation bag him up from them, Glen Benjamin went to ASJA before St Benedicts bought him as well. These big schools always come out on top.

I guess you have to vote for the last school they went too ? and make special mention of the rest.

Kenwyne Jones (St Anthonys), Lester Peltier (St Anthonys) and Carlos Edwards (St Anthonys) are currently pulling St Anthony's on top. Signal Hill might hold the crown for the most successful player we ever had (Dwight Yorke) even though St Augustine had a piece of him but he never really needed them.

Football / Brazil vs France argument !!!
« on: December 20, 2007, 06:29:21 AM »
I have this argument with many bias football fans who work with me and all they know about is Brazil, Pele and nothing more.

Do you believe Brazil sold out to France in the 1998 WC when they lost 3-0 in the finals. And also France win over them again in 2006 when Zidane made Brazil look like babies was also a sell out.

Now, allyuh talk de honest truth, will Brazil ever sell out a world cup final game.

Please remember, I recognise that Brazil won many titles and they are a power house and a top 5 team in the world today. But at times they are overrated and is loved bias-ly. Teams lose to them before they even kick a ball because of a psychological thing.

Football / Roy Keane/Sunderland questions.
« on: October 26, 2007, 10:41:31 AM »
Sorry to bring up this Sunderland thread because I know we have so many, however. .... what do you guys think of these questions.

Q: Roy Keane best signing since he took over at Sunderland.
A: Kenwyne Jones, Carlos Edwards (second) and Craig Gorden (third). Good players, future players and future investments.

Q: Roy Keane most important signing since he took over at Sunderland.
A: Dwight Yorke. Who was responsible for bringing some of the best to Sunderland like Kenwyne Jones, Carlos Edwards and Stern John to the club and taking them into the Premiership. He is also captain and the most experience on the team. Money well spent. He was miss at the West Ham game, Sunderland lack ideas in the final third.

Q: Roy Keane worst signing since he took over at Sunderland.
A: Kieran Richardson, a 6 million dollar pound of shit. Anthony Stokes not doing to well to, but in all fariness he's being played out of position ?

Q: Roy Keane improve player since he took over at Sunderland.
A: Liam Miller (nice touches), Grant Leadbitter, Dickson Etuhu and Nyron Noswrothy.

Q: What type of player do you thing Roy Keane needs to stay up in the Premiership.
A: 2 Solid defenders (Sancho & Lawrence) and an attacking midfield general Russell Latapy. I am dead
serious, these men will help Sunderland, Trini bias aside.

Q: Who do you think will leave Sunderland for a bigger club next season.
A: Kenwyne Jones. If he continues to improve he will be unstoppable, he is an asset to any team especially if its a big club where better players are around him. Imagine Jones at Arsenal or Liverpool... that 4-5-1 at Sunderland isn't a good deal and yet Jones is still scoring or creating goals.

Notes

As the year 2000 approached, World Soccer, the English international football magazine established in 1960, conducted a poll of its readers to choose the 100 greatest players of the 20th century.  Voters picked their top 10 players in order of preference.  Points were assigned to each vote a player gained, 10 points for a 1st place vote, 9 points for a 2nd place vote and so on down to 1 point for a 10th place vote.  World Soccer published the poll results in its December, 1999 issue.  Predictably, Pele ran away with 1st place.

Polls of this sort commonly suffer twin defects; they give disproportionate weight to the views of younger football fans, who are much more likely to vote than their elders and yet much less likely to have as broad a perspective, and to the views of fans in the country where the publisher of the poll is located.  While it is based in England, World Soccer has a worldwide readership, and its readers are relatively sophisticated football fans.  As the magazine itself noted, "Despite the enormous growth in media coverage of the game since the advent of colour TV, nearly all the Top 10 were in their prime many years ago."  It also claimed that "in general our voters opted for" choices representing "long-lasting class rather than fly-by-night tabloid-and-telly hysteria" and that the poll results "bear out the view" that "our readers are more discerning than those of other football magazines."

Nevertheless, the entire list of players selected as the top 100 demonstrates beyond doubt that the usual defects flawed the World Soccer poll, albeit perhaps not as severely as most popular polls.  World Soccer itself noted, "The majority of nominations were for English players, which is hardly a shock in view of the magazine's base."  Moreover, the inclusion of some players who had only recently begun to shine, the exclusion of stellar stars of the past and the relative placement of both past and present stars were often bewildering.

The voters' marked preference for the recent put beyond the pale even some of England's most celebrated players of the past.  While Michael Owen and David Beckham, still beginning to establish themselves as England stars when the vote was taken, finished in the top 50, Jimmy Greaves, England's greatest modern-day scorer with 44 goals in 57 internationals and 357 goals in 516 top-division league games, collected just 24 points and was not among the top 100.  Neither Tommy Lawton, 14 points, nor Wilf Mannion, 3 points, two members of England's fabled post-Second War forward line, secured enough votes to reach the top 100, and, as World Soccer observed, the failure of a third, Stan Mortensen, to gain even a single point although he scored more than 300 goals, including 23 in only 25 internationals, "was one of the biggest surprises of the entire vote."

Yet, skewed as it was, the top 100 selection could have been much worse.  At least the two wingers on that marvelous post-war England forward line, Stanley Matthews and Tom Finney, were voted into the top 50.  And, despite World Soccer's English base and the resulting English bias, no England player finished in the top 10, the least controversial portion of the poll's results.  Three--Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore and Stanley Matthews-- were in the top 20, but they deserved those positions.  Six more--Gordon Banks, Gary Lineker, Michael Owen, Duncan Edwards, David Beckham and Tom Finney--finished in the top 50, and there were at least two and perhaps three or even four question marks there.  Another six finished in the top 100--Kevin Keegan, Paul Gascoigne, Glenn Hoddle, Alan Shearer, Dixie Dean and Bryan Robson--great players all, but perhaps not all deserving a spot among the 100 greatest.

Both England and Brazil had 15 players in the top 100, Italy, 11 (1 of them shared), Germany, 8, Holland, 7, Argentina, 6 (1 of them shared), France, 6, Spain, 5 (3 of them shared), Hungary, 4 (2 of them shared), Wales, 4, Denmark, 3, Scotland, 3, and Uruguay, 3 (1 of them shared).

Many other England players drew votes but placed outside the top 100, some of them, to put it charitably, singularly peculiar choices.   They were, in alphabetical order: Tony Adams, 6 points, Alan Ball, 7, Gary Bailey, 5, John Barnes, 23, Len Barry, 8 (or, since World Soccer gave no first name or initial, could that be the then uncapped Gareth Barry?), Cliff Bastin, 6, Peter Beardsley, 3, Colin Bell, 17, Roger Byrne, 8, Sol Campbell, 21, Allan Clarke, 2, Ray Clemence, 16, Andrew Cole, 6, Tony Currie, 2, Brian Deane, 4, Tony Dorigo, 2, Ted Drake, 6, Robbie Fowler, 10, the uncapped former England squad member Steve Froggatt, 5, Charlie George, 1, Jimmy Greaves, 24, Geoff Hurst, 22, Paul Ince, 5, Tommy Lawton, 14, Steve McManaman, 28, Wilf Mannion, 3, Phil Neal, 6, Gary Neville, 1, Stuart Pearce, 11, Paul Parker, 2, David Platt, 4, Charlie Roberts, 5, David Seaman, 5, Len  Shackleton, 6, Lee Sharpe, 4, Peter Shilton, 16, Frank Swift, 8, Peter Thompson, 3, Phil Thompson, 3, Dennis Tueart, 1, Chris Waddle, 1, Ray Wilson, 17, Frank Worthington, 5, Billy Wright, 15, Ian Wright, 14.  One other English player, "Howells," no first name or initial given, received 8 points.  While there have been several English players named Howells, none of them were ever capped at senior level.

Football / Colombia v Brasil.
« on: October 12, 2007, 07:34:37 PM »
This Sunday, Colombia v Brazil in a 2010 World Cup Qualifier.

My predictions.

Colombia 2 v Brazil 1. (14th).

Brazil 2 v Ecuador 2. (17th).

You heard it hear first.

Dida [ ] is a dam joke, a faker, a cry baby.

And light weight Robinho [ ] should stick to Futsal.

I heard Ronaldo [ ] is looking more and more like a Hamburger....

And Adriano [ ] in some bar drunk up....

The only Brazil players I kinda like is;

Kaká [ ]

Zé Roberto [ ]

Roberto Carlos [ ]

And Cafu [ ].

I'll give you guys that, there are/was pretty decent players. But as a team I believe they are over-rated....

Congrats to their women team though they made it to the finals of the womens world cup only for Germany to hit them 2 sweet ones and send Palos baby mother Marta home crying.

Football / Guyanese AIA lost.
« on: October 02, 2007, 05:37:07 PM »
Joe Public beat them 2-0. Unfortunatley, Joe Public have a lot of Guyanese and Jamaicans on their team too, so the only good news to this is Jabloteh could be back on top..... Let me see, Shabaaz still have Abu Bakar (Randanfah) son playing under him, do you believe they are still connected. ...  :rotfl:

W Connection beat Rangers 4-2.

North East Stars beat Petrotrin 3-2, ah vex !!!!!!! Keon Daniel injured out and he was a major part to that team.

Tobago dead lock 0-0 with Police FC.

Brasil Sucks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are overated and if teams play them hard they will fall like rain. They not winning anything. Germany became the first Women's World Cup champion to repeat in Sunday's 2-0 win over Brazil.

Palos, you still want to have Marta baby....  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Brazil play so much shit in this game I too was surprise. They couldn't get a string of passes together, only individual play, skill with no brains... Marta shit down she self too.....

Germany 1-0 Brazil: Historic World Cup win.
Associated Press.

Germany won its second straight Women's World Cup on Sunday, defeating Brazil 2-0 behind second-half goals by Birgit Prinz and Simone Laudehr. Prinz scored in the 52nd minute and Laudehr added a cushion late in the game, helping Germany become the first women's soccer team to successfully defend its title in the World Cup or Olympics.
Brazil star Marta, who had seven goals in the tournament, had a chance to tie the game in the second half, but her penalty kick was stopped by diving German goalkeeper Nadine Angerer.
Germany managed to hold off flowing attacks by Brazil, which routed the United States 4-0 in the semifinal. In the third-place game Sunday, the U.S. defeated Norway 4-1 behind two goals by Abby Wambach.
Germany set several records in winning the top prize in women's soccer. Germany is the first team to go through a major senior competition without yielding a goal, outscoring the opposition 21-0.
Germany has not given up a goal in 619 minutes in World Cup play. The last goal was scored four years ago in the finals against Sweden. China held the old record of 442 minutes.

Football / North vs South Classic Allyuh !!!
« on: September 25, 2007, 09:57:40 AM »
Facts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the TTFF was based in South I doubt any north men would make the national side.

If the national stadium was based in South the T&T team would have had 100% more support than it currently gets. The stadium would have been full not only for world cup qualifiers but other games to.

W Connection (south) and Joe Public (east) won the most titles in the pro league.

If they cut T&T in half south will survive. South have oil, natural gas, food, best weed, meats, less crime etc etc...  north have KFC and TGIF....

Best Calyposnians and Soca Chutney singers came from south.

Borough Day growing. South again...

San Fernando Tech won the most SSFL and League titles.

Naparima will win this year.....

Even Patrick Manning was born in south.....  :rotfl:

Football / If Brazil wins this Copa America I will vomit !!!!!!!!!!
« on: July 11, 2007, 09:01:59 AM »
I hope to see Mexico in the final and I hope to see them beat Brazil for the second time and show the world the first win wasn't a fluke. I even supporting Argentina to win the whole dam thing if not Mexico. Brazil had one hard game whole tournament and that was against Uruguay and they needed penalties to win. A game they should have lost because the last kick Brazil keeper was off his line.

Over-rated Brazil SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robinho ....  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Diego Forlan and Alvaro Recoba teach Brazil how to play ball.

I hope Nevy Castillo is fine for the game today vs Argentina. They need him.

West Ham have rejected a bid by Carlos Tevez to cancel his playing contract. Dam-it !!!! now Manchester will be sucking eggs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Chelsea !!! or anybody else except for Mantaking-Utd !!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Premiership side Portsmouth completed Wednesday the signing of England striker David Nugent. The 22-year-old has joined from Championship club Preston North End for a fee reported to be 6 million pounds
!!!! I guess he's not going to Sunderland afterall.... this could be the best year for Stern John yet !!!!!! no international game to think about, just club, sad, but good too.

Football / Why I hate Brazil & Manchester United.
« on: June 02, 2007, 10:54:52 AM »
Beacuse to many people like them and they especially Brazil is over rated, they get respect just for having a name. Yes, they probably was good and still produce a few good players, but they havn't won any major tournament in a while, same for Man-U who only just won the premiership...

If teams really play Brazil and Man-U the way they should they wouldn't win squat and France taught them that lesson at the 2006 world cup.

As for Man-U they was counting on a treble, yea right, keep counting.....

Men here does only support name.... kaka this and kaka that and Ronaldo this and this, please....

Dont get me wrong, both teams are good, but not to support bias-ly...

I wish these two teams get so much licks they wake up....
