best of luck to the Trini. The public should demand information on who is funding these changes . I hold no brief for Shabazz and Hutson but that is disrespect for their services. Hope they are paid before the others! What about Anton? Is there still a need for him?  I never see such biasness ! I never thought I would see those moves. Strange mindset. I hope fans take stock and monitor events closely.

Well well Local players now showing some solidarity! Alvin, Angus eve, Brian Williams and Morris in agreement? Add Gally to that because he had his say first! Even Shabazz sending some mixed messages. Certainly an interesting development. I don't know the reason but is TOTAL DiSResPEcT for your own when you can ask them to work for free and working feverishly to look for sponsors to pay a foreigner for 2 months! I don't care how good he is , the principle is wrong! It is bad industrial practice. Charity begins at home. And what Tim Kee is saying it is a good business decision? So was it bad business decision to hire Shabazz and Charles and King?if these local coaches could break ranks and work together none of this would happen. I hope they
Learning a  lesson. There is strength in U NI T Y!

And by the way   Triniairman , it was Gally who recruited the  now  connection coach Stuart Charkes Fevrier  as a player from St Lucia to play pro in the 70 or 80s I can't remember , with his team and it is his coaching he has been trying to emulate since!

You are one of the few people on this forum that makes any sense. Those are my thoughts exactly on Latapy's role to help with the qualification. And the talk on the ground was that Jack was sure of Mexico's support because they owed him a favour so they didnot bring a strong team! So they might as well bring back Jack Warner if they wooing Leo!
What about the Technical Director? He staying ? What is his value to the team?

You all seem to be forgetting that we didnot qualify with Beenhakker alone. Do we have that same  set up with the experience we had then?
If he does  come and I don't think it will help football in the long term, it will be about saving face in the GC because we no where we are what we are seeing in the other teams! Look at Haiti! But instead of giving our team good support and preparation we wait till the last minute and then trying to save face. Wake up fellas! All we would see is defensive boring football to prevent us from getting too many goals. Is that how we want Trinidad and Tobago to look in our region? Look where we reach?
By the way ah reading Lasana article and I seeing plans to dump Hutson Charles and then they go see what do to with Shabazz and Derek King? What about Anton Corneal? All yuh pack ah glad boys look beneath the surface ! Alvin Corneal son and now Lincoln Phillips son trying to dictate the pace of our future. These guys still trying to run football under their sons underpants. Although they were good players their impact at international level was not as outstanding as the 73 and 89 team . So all they are holding on to is Beenhakker the saviour without recognising that the team who took us to the WC was built on the backs of players of the 73 and 89 team. Wake up fellas and look below the surface.
There is also a Maple connection, long fizzled but still want power and members of that long forgotten team? All past members Tim Kee, Corneal. Lincoln Philliips! I have been observing for the last 50 years football in Trinidad and Tobago , so you can take it with more than a pinch of salt!
We have the ability to solve our problems here! Forget about the GC and start building for the future! Join ranks ! Stop the me and my kin mentality , it is destroying all areas of our society . We have to leave it a better place for our youth.

Not surprised ! No value to anyone to play  our team! Supports the point that we have a lot of image building to do!

Football / Re: Andre Baptiste: Leave Beenhakker out Gold Cup.
« on: June 12, 2013, 04:34:38 PM »
Andre is on point. The qualification had a lot to do with the international experience of Latapy and Yorke and it was still tough, even with nice fixtures. With this group there IS a lot of development work to do to make the team truly competitive . Give Hutson and Shabazz  a chance to see how they fare in the Gold Cup and get a serious plan drawn up to start 2018 qualification. If we put clear thinking heads together and do some serious analysis we can come up with  a Good plan. Time for a fresh approach! Not running for a foreigner when it is crunch time, and looking for a saviour!

Football / Re: What is the origin of the Soca Warriors nickname?
« on: June 08, 2013, 06:45:07 PM »
I believe the name came from the type of football we were playing with the Strike Squad which was Kaisoca soccer. It was coined in Lancelot Layne's song. It was the rhythm in our football that Gally tried to play which was natural to the players. Just like Samba is to the Brazilians. Reggae Boyz followed us after they qualified in 1998 since as it was said several times , they were inspired by the Strike Squad's efforts. All of the Caribbean was supporting chief among them Patterson the Prime Minister, Viv Richards and other high profile persons. So they adopted
The Reggae Boyz but to tell you the truth, it was aggressive than rhythmic.
It was the song by Maximus Dan that caused the name to stick and he too said he was a little boy and cried on November 19th. In fact he opposed Jack when he wanted to drop Soca and call the team Warriors after  we qualified with the Dutch coach and it was strongly resisted by all and sundry.  But to be honest there is no rhythm in our football . Mass confusion they don't know what they playing.
Selwyn Melville tried to patent the name a few years ago  trying to make money and Gally went to the newspapers and spoke about the
origin. After which he lambasted Gally on his Programme but he got exposed and dropped his legal battle after it. I think Gally's point was that no one can own what belonged to the people and he coined it because the style was passed down to him through the years which he developed by learning from all the great players who preceded him.

Well I was wondering if I was back in the 19th century until I read ANC2 's comment. How can people be so fooled so easily. Beenkakker is a good coach but without Latapy and Yorke and without Jack's help we were going no where! He was no saviour . In fact we scraped through on a fourth place that was even changed to Bahrain at the last moment. It was supposed to be a South American team and we would have lost ! Jack help again! In fact as a team we have played better and done better in 1974 and 1990 qualifying campaigns but Haiti and US politics was in the mix and we get squeezed. I guess these are young gullible fellas who don't understand the history and politics of football and making these jerk responses to this article by Lasana.
Which brings me to another point . It appears that Lasana is allowing himself to be used by Tim Kee and the Corneals. I thought he was smarter than that? Alvin wants to cushion his  son's position and he believes a Foreigner wont care a shit about what role he plays because he will be ignored as a twaat anyway, because that  is what he is. It is time we stop looking for foreign solutions when we can solve problems right here. Get a proper constitution , hold proper elections( stop sticking people in place because of friendships) get clubs involved. get persons who have proven their worth on the international stage involved. We have quite a few who are willing and able and get the show back on the road. Someone has got to stop Timkee, Corneal , Shabazz and this bunch of losers!

42
The problem is Jack is too emotional and like to do things on a whim and a fancy. He felt elated and feel if he make big promises the players will win game and he go look good as a FIFA official. Ah promise is a promise . But people should keep they mouth shut and have a proper agreed structure in advance for rewarding good performance. . Jack know too that he helped that team all along the way giving them suck eye games . and they still struggled. I guess that is why he ignored the court's order. It is over now but I dont think further claims are warranted.

43
Well the 89 team should ask for payment too because I hear on a Sunday  programme with Lasana a couple  weeks a go that they were promised $600,000 then. That was an ok sum them. These fellas really have a gimme gimme attitude.
It is time we start seeing good football and stop these paybacks . Ah hear about money for technical staff too . Ridiculous! These poor performers. Too much easy money dishing out. People should only be rewarded for outstanding performances. Hence the reason for so much mediocrity.

44
Give Jack his jacket ! He did make a point of the team not doing as good as other World Cup teams and got  the most . In 73 we actually cams first and was denied participation. In 89 we came third with questionable refereeing which with hind sight look like a set up and 2006 it was a fourth place that secured the spot.
Without 73 and 89 there would have been no 2006. It seems they got everything that the others didnot get so they should pay homage to those guys. Jack did give them easy play offs so I guess that is why he thinks they are underserving and ignored the court order which I am not condoning . By law he should have acknowledged and and accept but in his mind he felt they had gotten enough and more than deserved. Don't play with the court and don't make verbal agreements you cannot keep.

You have to understand different levels in coaching. You think a good common entrance teacher could lecture in university just so without training and more importantly in sport experience? We always looking for easy solutions instead of making a proper analysis. I guess you may be a young person so you are a little overzealous . You will learn  in time. Keep the faith! Don't call for closing the site. There are people who know what time it is on the site maybe you will learn something from them! Stay up borse!

Football / Re: Anton Corneal loves the game.
« on: April 14, 2013, 07:20:52 PM »
Sam in full agreement! Not sure if he loves the game as much what he thinks he can benefit from the position. Selection of Shabazz is a classic example of selecting persons whom  he can control. Shabzz a former Alcons player with much loyalty. I have noticed this trend. I did find the ministry of Sport was giving a lot of support for the Team's preparations which I was pleased about. But now I am wondering if Creed is related to the PS in the Sport Ministry and hence the support as well as his selection by Anton to get that support. And to be able  to have trips abroad calling them preparation. How do we expect football to go anywhere if these kind of machinations are what decisions are based on? It appears they will continue to brown nose to persons who can keep them in positions and excellence is the last thing on their mind. Once WE in charge we good to go! We will fool them and say we have development Programme for  the whole country. We giving out C and D licenses like they  going out of style. Unfortunately  we can't give out A license because we aint reach that level yet.
When I see the kind of football Honduras playing to knock out the US, it does hurt because I know we have that kind of potential. I guess we can keep dreaming. We are such a tolerant people to our own disadvantage.

The yutes should be congratulated . They tried the best under the circumstances ,upsetting Costa Rica. The present structure and football fooling will take  us no where. Tim Kee is too weak to make correct decisions. You saw him on television last night. He looked pathetic. People shouldnot take jobs because of title  and privileges. you must have a vision if you are a leader and not controlled by cliques to maintain the status  quo!

I didnot realize he lives in Houston but I was quite impressed with young Welch. I will give him Man of the match. The loss could have been disastrous without him. He had to work too hard as a GK hence the easy goal. Shit happens in football all the time. He has a great future ahead! Kudos!

Coache
You still want to give the man de wuk? All yuh fellas does get carried away easily with a win. De man look lorse on de bench. I don't understand the hurried substitutions either? There are some talented youths but I believe they are being short- changed in the coaching area. Only ole talk from the technical crew.

I am happy for the win too against Costa Rica although I didnot see performance. It seems we still have to do some work but the opprtunities at this level are  important so that we could build consistently and have a comprehensive programme like Mexico and the US so that appearnces at the FIFA World Cup would not be a one off affair. We have reached close in the past before we finally made it on a 4th place berth in 2006 and we could again in the future. I hope Canada wins tonight.

Ah tired of this charade we have that we are calling national football at all levels. I feel sad for these young players. I am sure they will do better under a proper structure and well run administration . It is just a lot of fooling and reign of mediocrity . It is time  to put a stop to it.
Father commenting on game , son is Technical Director. Can we get unbiased opinions of the team's performance from any one else?
Jamaica with 9 players drew with Panama! Well done! I am sure this charade cannot happen in Jamaica! They are very serious and we just like it so!

Very credible article. History of match fixing by officials too is catalogued in a book How they stole the game. T&T is featured in it too. Has been happening since we on the world stage and a force to be reckoned with! Happened in 1973; 1989 and 2006. Anytime the stakes are high.  Is your own people who sell you out. Nothing new!

Fazeer is on point! He is no layman by any means. He is a Sports journalist for more than 25 years. He has a lot of institutional memory and very familiar with all the actors in the play. It will be ole talk and promises for as long as this charade is allowed to continue and perpetrated on the football loving public of T & T . We deserve better!

Football / Re: Fire Jamaal Shabazz Thread.
« on: March 28, 2013, 04:17:52 PM »
Shabazz is a waste of time. Full of ole talk and promises. Fire the Corneals who recommended him too! These people wasting the soccer loving public time. If Peru had their world cup team, we may have gotten about 10 goals. The only time I remember T&T beating Peru is with the Strike Squad. The display was disgraceful.
I am in total agreement with Sam.

56
I don't know but I am hearing a very defensive Tim Kee who took up a position promising to put wrong things right and having persons who have a contribution to make to do so but after apparently having telephone discussions very early on his assumption with Gally now appears to be beating around the bush and moving along the  same path football was heading before  he assumed the Presidency. House slave mentality is what Tim Kee is about. I was a little sceptical about him  at first but  now convinced that he cannot think for himself! He is not up to task! Apparently he is telling everyone if you want to help football come and wuk  for free. Black man really know how  to treat each other. Gally is a very passionate kind of Guy ! Probably feels he is not  appreciated. If it was not for him there would be no Dwight Yorke playing for Ashton Villa no Strike Squad no Socawarriors, Boy all I could tell you is welcome to the club That is the trini way!

57
Saunders u get roped into this chupidness too? Like is a pardner  thing with you and Lasana or what? Look what national coaching come to?

58
Doh try dat Shabazz! What kind of PR stunt is dis? And aided and abetted by Lasana? Yuh surprise me!
A coach should have a philosophy and a vision and not  have to look for fans  for help! Just trying to pander to fans! By the way does Hutson Charles agree with this approach? Looks like you are undermining him.

Bad move with Jan! Shows poor leadership by coaches. is not he our captain? Was not he at last week's Press conference posing and speaking in glowing terms about Tim Kee? These fellas not ready! I guess the St Lucian Stuart Charles happy about the impact on our National teams's captain . Mr President do you have a view on this?
