Well, Liverpool are still in with a chance for a second-place finish, as Cardiff has a shock lead over Chelsea; Mourinho better watch himself.

Roman is known for his quick firings...

0-0 at 60 minutes.
4-0 at 90.

Liverpool need a stumble and an American Samoa type scoreline to win the title.

Realistically, Liverpool can only win the title if City lose its final game of the season and the Reds win.

If City wins, it will be deserving winners, as the sky blues have the better defensive record.

A Liverpool win in its final game will guarantee a second place finish.

Considering that the Reds are already 19 points better and 28 goals (in the "goals for" column), I am proud of their performance.

However, I can only imagine how devastated the Liverpool players must feel.

The manner in which Liverpool collapsed can either strengthen its resolve to mount a new challenge or result in an emotional letdown culminating in a disappointing finish next season.

Time will tell...

In the meantime, Mr. Rogers better start looking for some defenders and defensive midfielders.

General Discussion / Re: Dana Seetahal murdered

Ms. Seetahal's grisly murder at the hands of some cold, callous beasts (they are certainly not human) has certainly lowered our besieged country to a new nadir.

As Socapro said, perhaps it will take the assassination of a highly recognized figure in our society to spur all of the citizens of our country into action. I say, all of the citizens, because the burden of change should not rest on the powers that be alone; it will require a consistent and unflagging collective effort of all segments of our country to stop the moral rot and return our country to the days where, as my mother used to say, she could go out with her friends (albeit against her parents wishes) with nary a thought about potential thieves or rapists.

Refereeing made the difference. Ghost Pk and allowing Lopez to do a hatchet job on Hazard all night. Not good.

Elan, you being beyond ridiculous. Eto'o fouled the man and hazard was asleep whole match.
How about those Madrid teams, eh:D :D :D

I think I can bet a million US dollars that the team from Madrid will win the Champions League title

Well one way or another, the champions league trophy will be in the hands of a team from Madrid this year...

Oh gorsh Costa, after all that drama, is a good thing (for your sake), that you scored.

Like Stamford Bridge is becoming a bad luck ground for Chelsea or what?

The poise and dignity that he displayed during the terrifying events of late July 1990 will be forever etched in my memory.

RIP to one of Trinidad and Tobago's elder statesmen and historical giants.

Men on this board is real kicks oui, since when tiki taka means possession with scoring/winning? Steups, what was it called when Barca/spain dominated possession AND won everything?

That aside is RM time unless AM have something to say bout it

Doh sleep on Chelsea and Mourinho.

I think the blues may have a shot at the title.

Although he can be arrogant at times, Mourinho has proven himself as a master tactician.

ah come people .................all in good fun.......... I enjoyin this either way, chelsea is my team but they seriously should have had diss tied long time, too many lapses.........but I is won chelsea fan dat glad for pool regardless ah what happen.....ah enjoy dem d other games immensely.

Ditto.
These fellas feeling a how b/c they loss. But is just ole talk.
They been down so long they not accustom

Whatever you say boss. I was responding in jest also, but it is difficult to infer that tone of a response from the Internet.

Of course, many Liverpool fans will be disappointed with the result, but as far as the Liverpool mgt is concerned, this season has already been a mammoth success.

So doh think I taking anything "a-how" because Liverpool lost.

I am just pointing out facts in a picong-type of way.

At the end of the day, LFC does not pay my bills, so I always have perspective

So a deeper squad (with far more money, might I add), beats a Liverpool side, that is overachieving beyond its wildest imagination.

And you come to gloat.....

Liverpool's realistic target this season is Champions League qualification (which has been accomplished).

Anything else is a bonus.

Allyuh adjusting expectations quick.
You hoping to challenge Arsenal for the 4th place trophy?

Speak for yourself partner.

Even Rodgers did not expect to be challenging for the title this early

http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/286487.html

So boss, which "allyuh" you talking about?

And after all the ole' talk....

Liverpool are still top of the league, with Chelski requiring favours from other teams to win the league.

134
The special one will sort allyuh out.

 ::)

He did... I'll give him credit.  He figured out a way to make Gerrard slip at the most critical point of the game.

The score was 2 - ZERO.
Everybody and they brother know we were coming to park the bus and counter attack. Highest scoring team in the league - zero goals.

135
I knew the Blues would have a sting in their tail.

But.....

Liverpool are still top of the league and that is a fact.

136
Thank you for posting boss, and like you, Aldo is echoing my sentiments.

I didn't take on Mourinho with his rather transparent mind games with regards to Chelsea's title chances. All one has to do is judge his true intentions by his furious reaction to the refereeing in Chelsea-Sunderland match last weekend; his response was more of a manager trying to win the league, rather than one who conceded the title.

And Mourinho, to quote a barb that he leveled at Arsene Wenger in the recent past, is "not a specialist in failure"

I do not think Abramovich would appreciate it if Mourinho were not trying to win the league with his charges either

So Liverpool better be ready and focused for the full ninety minutes on Sunday.

137
Nah Bakes, Liverpool has exhibited a tendency to lose concentration for a twenty minute stretch during matches in the last few weeks. I think this is down to a mixture of nerves and the play of the other team.

I will have to watch the replay of the first Norwich goal again, you may have a point.

Doh get me wrong, any team winning ten matches in a row is quite an achievement, especially a team that does not have the depth of squad of a Chelsea or Man City.

Along with Atlético in Spain, this could very well be a season where David topples Goliath in terms and a squad with two star players and an aging veteran (Gerrard) pitted against the obscenely wealthy Chelsea and Man City.

In fact, based on what I have read on other boards, many fans of other clubs are rooting for Liverpool based on the fact that I just stated. One Arsenal fan, disgusted with likes of Chelsea and City, has started rooting for the Reds.

As you say, based on the breaks that have gone against Liverpool in the past (This match would  most likely have ended in a draw or a defeat in seasons gone by), I will gladly accept the breaks that are going their waynow.

138
That Liverpool defence is causing me to have some serious ulcers!

  :frustrated: :banginghead:

Yes, the reds won, but that match was too close for comfort, and Sakho is getting away with some horrendous challenges in and around the Liverpool area.

It goes without saying that the defence should be one of the positions that should be filled when Liverpool taps into the transfer market.

139
Norwich's nemesis, Suarez poisons the Canaries again....

2-0.

140
Young Raheem is really developing starting to reach his full potential.

Nice finish.

1-0 Liverpool.

Very long way to go though...

141
@ elan

Gerrard was emotional because there is literally no margin for error as far as Liverpool's title challenge is concerned and the players displayed a lot of nerves.

The Reds do not have Russian billionaire money like some Johnny-come-lately (former sh#t side) clubs).

Because no other team is/was playing for a title.

This sh#t johnny-come-lately in the CL semis.

CL in a competition which Liverpool won five times..

I remember when Chelsea was where Liverpool was in recent times (in fact, worse...)

So, as I said, all of these former sh#t Johnny-come-lately teams...

143
That was a MASSIVE let off for Liverpool.

Kompany's uncharacteristic mistake, followed by Coutinho's classy finish was really a reprieve for the Reds.

Rodgers has got to get those players to stop thinking about the title and just focus on winning matches.

Apart from the technical nuts and bolts, it is about the power of the mind.

144
Hang on a minute...

It's a good thing I am a young man and am in good health.

Oh boy

145
pipe buss

Yep, the signs were there with 10 minutes to go in the first half.

City deserves to be back in the match

146
It has completely fallen apart...

147
The pessimist in me has seen many MANY teams go 2-0, miss subsequent chances, and pay the cost. This is going to be tense...

The players need to calm down and stop thinking about the title.

148
Evil Suarez reared its ugly head.

He needs to chill with the diving

149
Liverpool are looking good so far, but had some very nervous moments at the end of the first half.

Also, Sakho almost made me cuss with that stupid challenge in the penalty area on Djeko. That could have been a certain penalty

Rodgers need to get the players to calm down...

Here is a quote from the 606v2 forum:

"So the Windies ridiculous tactic of blocking at the start of their innings bites them in the ass

Gayle's innings was bizarre."

I could not have summed it up any more succinctly myself.

I would have fired Gibson on the spot for the utter stupidity of his comments regarding taking singles and rotating the strike.
