And played good ball. High IQ and high skill. Only thing is they play him on the wing bec of his left foot and crossing but to me he is more of an out and out striker.

The Canadian team not more talented? You realize the names they had on the pitch and the leagues they play in? Of all the players I’ve seen play for Trinidad in the last 24 months, those were the best players available. He didn’t leave Messi out or bench Mbappe. Any of a few names missing that we could argue should have been on the pitch were not going to be super star level talent that changes the course of the game. Give the team and coach their credit for a reasonable performance against the number one ranked team in the region.

We in good shape for WCQ. We need another quality striker and a central midfielder

We had 3 clear chances and missed. Overall good showing. If we finished chances we win that game.

If Canada brings their strongest team, they will be hard to beat. Win or lose I like the work Eve and these players are doing. This program has come a long way under Eve. The players deserve credit for playing good football these days.

Good to see more of our players in the CPL. He needs the playing time and the standard in this league is good.

We need more players in the Canadian CPL. The football is good in that league.

Interesting thread. A federation full of corruption where players and coaches couldn’t get paid for decades. Decades of mismanagement, law suits and stealing. A Netflix documentary about our culture of theft and disorganization. FIFA has moved to eliminate and change this culture and we still complaining? Are we suggesting we return to this type of culture and international reputation?

Eve has done wonders with a very weak team. Outside of Levi and Daniel, none of these players play regularly in top leagues. Eve has performed miracles with this team and the players deserve credit for responding to his leadership. Both players and coaches deserve credit and should be proud of how they have represented us.

As far as team selections, he can only select 22 even though there’s about 44 that can make a strong argument for selection. His selection has been good considering he is still discovering new players and who can play international ball. I’ve seen lots of new faces and they are performing.

It doesn’t matter who the coach is or which players are picked, there will always be a pocket of fans that will not be happy. The lack of credit and support Eve gets is disppointing.

I enjoyed watching Molino over the years but he looked finished in the last few games he played for us. He served the shirt well and worked hard for us but I don’t think he can contribute at this level. We have young and upcoming players that need those minutes.

Controversial -  The ranking is a good point, we need to start climbing and hopefully that win helps. The agents and their connections is another more difficult issue for our players. Can the football association create relationships with these leagues to get our players in? Not the top tier leagues like England, Germany, Italy and Spain but the next tier like Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Scotland, Ireland etc.

Proud of that effort. They scored 3 against us with 10 men and we scored 2 against them with 10 men. Not bad. I’d like to see more Auvray tho, he has one of the highest upsides on the team and plays a style we don’t have enough of on the pitch. I’m hoping Auvray can get into a decent league and reach his potential; but not even a short run for him is concerning.

Raymond is in the 4th devision in Portugal? Nah. Who is his agent? He can play in a Norway /Sweden/ Switzerland /Denmark/Finland  first division no problem. More of our players need to pass through these leagues as they have a good standard of football and are visible for the teams in bigger leagues.

Raymond was an absolute standout. Where does he play and if not in a top league he needs to get on his agent to make a move. Easily one of the best players on the pitch for both teams.

I haven’t heard anything about Keston Julien since he left his last club. Is he injured? With or without a club?

I was proud of the effort considering it was mostly with 10 men. The US has millions more in population and billions more to spend on football and believe me they spend every cent towards development.

I met two men from North Carolina who started a non profit club and with donations and sponsorship built a training facility and stadium that beats every facility I’ve seen in Trinidad. Two random guys with an idea generated more funding than our government and local sponsors could. That’s the difference in how football is funded abroad vs home and you see it on the pitch.

Our players fought hard last night and the coach played with a plan that is commonly used around the world. It was 10 minutes short of being highly successful. Give the boys and coaches some credit.

Good win. Guatemala played good ball as well and we can’t ignore the opposition who are ranked higher than us. Proud of these players and the coach has to be given credit for getting results. Only stat that matters is the final score!

Good win, especially in a place like that. A few things to work on but also quite a few positives.

We are one of the lowest ranked teams in our group, ahead of only Guatemala. Were we expecting to destroy higher ranked teams who are also better on paper? I thought winning this game despite the lack of possession was good. The players we have are not all playing in the best leagues in the world so the quality of our play won’t be that of France but I’m proud of these players and they got the result.

Angus Eve isn’t the problem. Our players are still developing and as they get closer to their peaks, we will see better results. Until then, we will be a work in progress regardless of who the coach is.

Don’t get me wrong, if our players can get into the bigger and better leagues by all means. But the young ones like him are better off in an emerging league like the CPL than the local league in T&T. The training, facilities, coaching and football is of a higher standard and getting better each year. He and a few others would benefit from the exposure if there is no prospect of them getting into the signature leagues around the world.

York United FC could desperately use a player like Poon-Angeron. They need a deep lying midfielder with good ball control. They have no midfield presence and every time I watch them play I can see how M. P-A would fit well here. Why are more of our younger players not in the Canadian Premier League?

Yes Gomez stood out as well.

Some of our youngsters need to go out to leagues in Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Ukraine, Norway, Austria, Serbia, Finland etc. Some of those leagues are noted for developing young players and the level of football is better than what we have. Our young players will benefit from moving early. Why don’t we see more movement into those types of leagues is my question.

Real-Gill is an absolute keeper. We’ve seen a couple new players show themselves as key pieces going forward. He is one and Auvray, Rampersad and Fortune need to be selected automatically going forward.

Shaw as a central striker doesn’t offer enough. We still need a proper striker as Shaw is not the answer. On a positive note, Alvin Jones was excellent except for the penalty.

Eve has done an excellent job on limited resources while working with an administration in transition from corruption to normality.  I like the players he has selected however we have only one that plays in a decent league and he wasn’t playing in the last two games. The players at his disposal are not in the top leagues so they will be as good as their exposure. I think the players and coaches have done well all things considered.
