I have a great respect for this mans approach so far. I’m not saying he is a good or bad coach but so far his professionalism has been great. Our last coach only insulted our football and although he was right about the poor quality of local football, he didn’t have to publicly ridicule our local players the way he did.

I’m very curious to see if Maturana can get us there.

WAW, so little some of those guys make? This can't be acurate. Sealy is worth more than that for sure. Toronto FC is looking for strikers, I think he should make a switch and ask for more $$$

Football / Re: Crouch the bait as Liverpool chase Kenwyne Jones?
« on: October 29, 2007, 09:55:33 AM »
That would be a great deal for Kenwyne, Liverpool and Sunderland. Sunderland get an England striker that is regularly on the National team so in other words he is quality (although I personally was never impressed with his game) plus a cool 10Mil which can buy much needed depth. Liverpool get the next big star striker in the premiership who will compliment Torres; giving them a lethal combination of a target man in Kenwyne and a clinical striker in Torres and Kenwyne gets to play at a big club that is always competing for the title or in Europe. Similarly to Dwight in his prime, Kenwyne will train and compete with some of the best players in Europe which is probably a dream come through for him.

If this move were to actually materialize in January I don’t think anyone could complain because Sunderland may very well be on their way back down unless they start getting results. Having said all of this, maybe he should finish the season with Sunderland, score nuff goals, look good on a crap team and if they do go back down then entertain a transfer to a bigger club. No matter what, as long a she keeps scoring he is in a total win win situation.

Football / Re: Colin Samuel- TFC.......
« on: October 09, 2007, 10:51:01 AM »
Collin hasn’t played well as a striker for TFC but the lack of creativity from the middle doesn’t help. Put Collin on a better team with better midfielders I bet he’ll score a little more. I would also agree that he is better on the wings, left or right side. Mo played him on the wing at least twice and one of those times, when he was on the right he had a superb game. I remember that performance well and he ran the length of that field all game until he was subbed.

At the end of the day, TFC would be smart to keep him on even if they upgrade their team. I’m not being biased but he is one of the better players on the team, not a great striker by any means but relative to the rest of the team, he is a pretty decent player.

Tinto was a cut above the rest, showing glimpses of real class. I've never seen him play until last night and I was shocked that he is still in the Pro League. Is he inconsistent or something because he should be playing on the wing or attacking midfield for some professional side in England.

Anyone know when our round of WC qualifying starts? All this talk about the squad is making me anxious. When I read this thread and look at our options, I would say we have a very good chance of being a top 3 team in this zone. We're a little young but the young players are all quality and our depth is better than I've ever seen.

WC cup qualifying is one of the best times for me, can't wait to start the journey.

Football / Re: Hot off the Press: Kenwyne for Stern.
« on: August 24, 2007, 09:48:21 AM »
Positive for Stern is he is undoubtedly getting to play first team football week in and week out. Negative is it would be hard to leave a club with two of your countrymen to go to that lowly Saints team. He would have been having real fun playing with Yorke and Edwards but I guess that’s the way it goes.

Positive for Jones is that he gets to learn from Yorke and Cole, once the top two strikers in the EPL, he gets to play for what looks to be a great coach and he’s in the EPL competing against the best in the world. He can only get better from this move. Negative is he will have to really do well to beat out Murphy, Stokes and Cole for playing time. I’ve been impressed with the Stokes and Murphy partnership in past games (although fruitless so far).

Football / The next big star out of TnT
« on: August 23, 2007, 10:21:20 AM »
For those of you fortunate enough to take in the TnT under 17 team at the world cup, are there any Dwight Yorkes out there? Any of these players stand out talent wise? Could we see any of them being picked up by foreign clubs after the tournament? What does our future look like?

I can’t see any of the games this time around but I remember when I was young and Dwight played in the under 17 (I believe it was under 17) world cup everyone knew he was going to be a professional playing at a high level. Back then, although Trinidad didn’t do too well in the tournament, Dwight stood out as an outstanding talent and look where he ended up. Do you guys see any Dwights in this tournament? I believe Kenwyne Jones was spotted at a youth tournament in Trinidad as well years ago, again, look at where he is heading. I guess I’m just curious to know if any players caught your attention during this tournament.

Okay Fellas & Ladies (ah take a boff for leavin the ladies out),

I just runaway from work and made the purchase. Unfortunately I won’t be able to actually play it until later but ah feelin ah sudden cold coming on so we’ll see  ;). From all the responses I read it looks like the dark side is the way to go.

Is this the end of my 9yr marriage with FIFA? Will FIFA get horn tonight? Stay tuned for de game comparison.

What is this football manager I hearing about? Is this a game that we actually play or is it all buying and selling etc but no play?

Horse, sorry but I cannot in good faith lead you to the black hole called Football Manager.  That game evil.  Yuh go spend whole night playing (15 minutes more!) till yuh look outside and sun shining and is just to bathe and go to work.

It is a management game meaning you are the manager of Arsenal, Man Utd or nearly 500 other teams worldwide and yuh conduct it like Arsegne Wenger or Alex Fergusson from there.  Over 200,000 REAL players in the game database rated in a number of different football categories e.g. heading, shooting, passing, speed, creativity etc.  Buy and sell players with the transfer money that the Board give you.  When game time comes set up your system, give instructions and watch the game from the sideline like a manager.  After the game answer questions from the media, but watch wha yuh say as your players might get vex.  Or manage an international team.  I took Argentina to the semis in South Africa 2010 and nearly cry when I lose 5-4 in penalties to France.

No matter what team I manage, I always buy two or three young Trinis to get them a start in Europe.

Is the matrix horse.  Das all ah could say.

Fellas I took my time and read his thread and I think its time to switch to the dark side. I’ve been a FIFA man since 98 and can’t imagine a better football game but all this talk about winning eleven is making me curious. My only questions are:

Are the number of leagues in pro eleven as extensive as in FIFA 2007?

What are the modes like? Is there a mode for league play, manager or world cup qualifying?

Most importantly can the names of the tnt team be edited? I don’t mind taking some time to edit the names if the game allows me to. If the names cannot be edited I will have a hard time playing it because it would take away from the realism.

What about the skill level of players in this game, are the skill levels accurate enough?

Wat allyer tink, time to make the switch?   :-\

Good move by Spann, now you can fulfill all that potential. Jan has  played a lot for T&T, y did he get denied? Hope we can straighten that out and get him signed up.

Football / Re: Silvio heading for Wrexham?
« on: August 13, 2007, 11:54:21 AM »
Forgive me for this but Spann hasn’t proven anything to me yet. Yes he is talented but he plays for W. Connection at the age of 25. How could he say “Wrexham is a stepping stone”, even though that may be true in his mind, a professional would not say something like that. If I remember correctly, the last man to talk about stepping stone washed out of Falkirk and ended up right back in Pro League. I’m not saying that will happen to Spann but he needs to actually get signed and kick some good ball and prove he deserves to be on a big club. Right now, to me, Spann is all potential and nothing else.

Wrexham is a good start for anyone with ambition because we have seen their players move up to better clubs. I’d love to see Spann sign with Sunderland instead but if he starts at Wrexham now maybe in 2 to 3 years he’ll be playing for an even bigger side.

Just my 2 cents.

That was the best game I see Samuel play this season. If he come wit dat every week he’ll do well in this league. He was quick, aggressive, strong and believe it or not de man work real hard going from attack to defense & touch line to touch line. I was impressed with his performance tonight, very impressed.

I’ve seen 3 games now and dis man lazyyyyyyyy. He doh hustle or nothing. As a matter of fact, he looked completely disinterested in the last game so the coach took him off. Dat big belly holding him back. As a fan I am disappointed in his performances so far, its been below average.

Still cheering for him though, hope he picks up his game.

Football / Re: Samuel on FSC tonight at 8:30pm
« on: July 08, 2007, 06:06:53 AM »
I watched the game last night as well as the 2 games before and I have mixed feelings about Samuel’s performances. Overall my impression is he isn’t the hardest worker on the pitch. He pressures defenders sometimes but mostly he kind of stands there and half heartedly jogs to them. What I’m alluding to I guess is he seems pretty lazy to me.

On the other hand, he is an exciting player and it shows when he makes his runs. I think his overall skill level is above most if not all of his team mates. Also, a reason for his “lazy” disposition could be that he is unfit. Remember he didn’t play competitively for six weeks then all of a sudden he played 3 games in six days.

He threw away the game winner last night but how many open net opportunities did Chicago throw away?  I’d say he’s in the right league and should do well in the second half of the season. My Scottish friend (who watched him a lot at Dundee) says he won’t work any harder on the pitch because that’s just how he plays; I hope Samuel proves him wrong.

As a loyal if not obsessed fan of the socawarriors, I am very very sadened by their approach. Their timing is awful and lacks both class and diplomacy. As a fan, I feel like I was just slapped in the face. My love however is unconditional and I support the team one way or another.

Hope a little more football and much less politics is on show tomorrow.

I remember being in trinidad a few yrs ago and seeing Toussaint play for the first time and he stood out to me as one of the smarter players on the pitch. I never heard abt him or knew who he was so I asked the guy next to me who that was and then he told me his name; I said to myself this guy's skill is different, very very different. I thought two things, he is too small to be a successful striker ( he was a striker that day) and he is to skilled to not make our national team. Its been a few years and I think he was called to training once but didn't make the cut and I didn't hear anything abt him since.

Bottom line is I've seen this guy play once, abt 4 or 5 yrs ago and I never to this day forgot that performance because he impressed the heck out of me; I'm glad to see him finally getting a chance. Now I hear he is playing in the midfield and that actually makes more sense to me because he sure can create something out of nothing on that pitch.

Good luck Andre T.

I wonder how long before these names get a call up for duty. I see all of those names but now I am very interested in actually seeing them play so we can assess their caliber. Like I said, we can throw a group of youngsters out there but can they perform credibly against class opposition?

Football / Defenders Wanted
« on: August 01, 2006, 09:58:13 AM »
Good Day Guys,

Is it me or is our defensive looking a bit old these days? Now there is nothing wrong with our players aging as they are bound to age with time, but my real question is who do we have to replace them? Do we have youthful defenders that can replace guys like Andrews, Lawrence, Sancho, John and even Gray? Will we be able to find Mid - High caliber defenders in our pro league?

No one ever talks about the next young defender who will hold down the back line for T&T? We have young talented strikers for days and even our midfield has some depth and youthful talent but what about defense. Where will we find the strength of Andrews, tackling of Sancho, Aerial skills of Lawrence, who will run the line like Avery or be as tenacious as Cyd?  Sure we could throw some young defenders in the line up and say we have youth but more importantly, do we have talent, young defenders that are good enough to represent us on the international stage?

With all the talk about 2010 and looking to the future, all I here is which strikers will emerge as the starters for us and who running the midfield, but today my question is who the heck will defend? Can we enthusiastically look forward to Derek King (no disrespect intended), Anton Pierre and Marlon Rojas to revitalize our back line? Is Keno Thomas ever going to be given a chance, does Jlloyd Samuel qualify? Are we in trouble where our defense is concerned?

I don’t see very many successors for our present backline but I have been wrong before. If they are out there then who are they and when will we have a look at them?

What do you guys think?
