the difference between Masch and Hyland is Masch is a veteran who good enough to play either while Hyland is a young player who now looking to establish himself

Whatever fellah that is just bs talk..

Mascherano filled into the Barcelona backline under pretty much the same circumstances as Hyland... Injuries! Have nothing to do with him being a veteran or his experience, because he never filled in there for Liverpool, West Ham or Corinthians before that. The fact is that when you have no CB's available a DM is usually the next best option because of their positional awareness and obviously the coach sees Hyland as the best candidate among his squad.

The Genk back line looked more solid with Hyland in the back. Positionally he was decent, he distributed very well when in possession and he did the simple things right. The plain and simple fact is that they came up against a team that was miles better than them in every position on the field and it showed.

Happy for Hyland, for the experience gained and the opportunity to play against some world stars.

One to tell the kids about.
Won't agrue with u but anybody can look at Hyland and see he's not a CB. If he was he'd be playing there from time. You comparing Hyland to a big player like Masch tells me we can't continue this discussion. Have a good one.

Watched Hyland play on the weekend as well as today and its the same thing, SLOW SLOW SLOWWWWWWWW. He isn't aggressive at all and uses little or no pace.

He needs a coach to help him define his style and use his tools better. Alarming that this coach keeps putting him in the back line bec he's really not a CB. He's big but not a defender. Looks like the coach sees a little CB in him tho.

Agents don't have to be from TnT, check out this extensive list of agents our boys could be using:

http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/organisation/footballgovernance/playeragents/list.html

and this is a particularly good agency:

This is a really good discussion topic.

One of the keys to getting our players out to good leagues is getting them out early. Most of our players coming out of high school are still young and considered "raw" products by the teams abroad and a good agent can sell his player enough to get a trial if they are under 20yrs old. Clubs look at that player as a potential appreciating investment who they may be able to sell for 5x the amount they paid for him.

So in the end it comes down to having a good agent and getting the opportunity to go abroad before you hit 20yrs old. The only guys that get into the good leagues after they hit 20yrs are the ones who are able to grow enough in the pro league setting to catch the eye of scouts. How often does that happen though?

All of our above average foreign players Yorke, Latapy, Hyland, Jones, Nakhid all left before they hit 20yrs.
The problem we have is a combination of bad agents and players who do not have quite enough talent to really interest clubs in the better leagues.

There is a little bit of luck/timing involved too.

My 2 cents is players like H. Hector & K. Molino for example are very capable of playing in Portugal, France, Holland, Greece, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey & Scotland in first or second division leagues but the agents these players use have little or no connections in these leagues or have very little credibility in with clubs in those leagues.

In order to get our better young players into good leagues we need to have them work with established agents, not necessarily top agents, but at least agents with connections in good leagues. You can’t tell me Hector can’t play in Holland or Switzerland; that kid could play and shouldn’t be going to Vietnam to make his money.

Where are our former overseas players who know where to find proper agents? Can’t they form an organization to help these young players find teams in good leagues? This is where we need former overseas players to bring their experience and knowledge to the table to help the younger ones.

Vietnam and India is a shame for the kind of talent we have.

Why was Hector excluded? Coach's call, I guess. No two coaches will necessarily see a match the same way, or select the same team, and that's fine as long as one wins. As an example, Latapy, our finest talent was left on the bench by Beenhakker for much of the Germany campaign. Hopefully, the campaign will be long and Hector will have more opportunity to get into Pfister's plans.

Hector had his audition against India and maybe didn't impress the coach enough. I suspect he'll eventually be given another chance tho. He is one of those players that desperately need to go abraod to reach his true potential.

Angus just make more sense in 2 minutes than all them men put together in one hour.

How come we have to listen to a set of old men when we have young dynamic ex-pros who actually know modern football sitting in the stands. TnT really limited by a failure to let young people succeed the dinosaurs out there. Politics, TTFF, football commentary, same thing.

Latapy done what most local coaches did, play their favorite players, ignore players who could make the team better, and go on wid all kinda childish fackry.

uptil now we never hear latas in ah post or pre game interview explainin to the fans of his team selection and why certain players were included and excluded. seems like any coach who fackin wid aklie , makkan and keon does fall on their faces.

ah hope the next coach don't even bother wid these guys, as ah matter of fact latas got it right too little too late!

i did like the last set of players that latas had on the team, the only thing was , it was too little too late! had he done that earlier he would've had more success.

i'm not gonna stay here and thank latapy for anything except jovin jones and houton hector, that's the least he could've done considering the circumstances and the time allotted to him.

good riddance latapy, loved yuh as ah player, "but hated you!!!!" as ah coach!

PS: i bet all the birchallites must be jumping for joy!

Bro u talkin shit and is so much shit u talk in that paragraph i can't even begin to explain y u make no sense; don't have that kinda time. Latapy did his best with mediocre players and even if he selected different players they would still be mediocre if they came from the pro league. He should be fired yes but not bec he didn't do a good job but only bec he didn't get results and at the end of the day good job or not he didnt get results.  Latapy as a coach tho did just fine considering what he was working with . I respect latepy the player and the coach and I appreciate his efforts for our football both on and off the pitch  :beermug:

Wingbacks covered but it look like only Marshall and James playing centre back. What if one gets injured? Would have liked to see Robert Primus in the mix.

Anyway besides that the rest of the side look solid.

If this side can't tap up Guyana and St. Vincent and get at least a draw against Haiti then some serious questions need to be asked.

Cyrus would be the back up CB....and yes Primus should be in the mix.

Where is Primus playing right now and is he playing regularly. That guy was a good defender, can't understand y he isn't in the mix.

When was the last time Gay play with the team? He have no club, unknown my arse. What about Peltier and Tinto? Did they make the last couple games? I going and check.

Breds, Gay, similar to Hyland a couple of yrs ago, is a clear talent who needs caps and needs the training until he gets another foreign contract. If he signs with a pro league team it becomes less desirable for a foreign team to pick him up because there will be a transfer fee. Thats y Hyland stayed so long without a club bec it was only a matter of time before he got picked up by a foreign team. Gay's agent see's him as being in the same position. So Gay is not without a club bec he's shitty, it's because he looking for trial opportunities abroad and being attached to a club here makes him less desirable bec of the fee that will eb attached.

So according to you the best way for a club to see how good you can play is to not to play.   :beermug:

Go ask Hyland how well that worked for him? I think it worked out just fine :). Agents have a resume and a box full of tapes to promote the player, if the club likes the resume and the tapes, they will send for a trial and then they get to see the player in action. Those clubs (the kind Gay's agent is targeting) don't have scouts to send to pro league games because it’s a waste of their time and money because our league is shit. If u understood the process for getting signed abroad you'd understand y it is sometimes advantageous to remain unattached.

They don't have scouts to send to PFL games, so explain to me what tapes they watching? Of him training? Of him in HS? OF him 2 years ago? Of him on the National team?

Men playing day in and day out and cannot get call up, yet a man "training" and he getting call up. You wonder why we cyah go nowhere.

Like I said, go ask Hyland and many other free agents how they got signed, tapes and trials. Tapes are compiled by the agent based on years of footage; lets not forget Gay has played in Germany, youth WC and National team, there is plenty of footage to help market him. BUT i totally see ur point, it is unfair for inform players who playing for a club week in and week out to get left out when Gay getting calls right through, point taken  :beermug: Who would you suggest should take his place in the team?

hyland rejected a jabloteh contract extension but had a trail at Portsmouth in January  and rednapp was on his tail also he was a main stay in the national team  that was 2 years back and he was 18 turning 19 .... Gay was in Europe and could not make the cut/fallen out a favour at his club he signed a two year contract and they parted ways in one year ... gay has not been with  club since January 2010 he  is  21 and 22 in January he needs to be playing football at a club ...

I Agree he need to be playing, but playing in the pro league is useless.

Gay already get a bligh with a low level German team, get stuck in de reserves and then drop. I don't think his talent is quite as clear as Hyland's.

He got injured, was sidelined for a considerable amount of time, sent to the reserve and didn't regain form in time to convince them to extend his contract. He's got talent but injuries prevented him from making a challenge for regular playing time. But I agree he is not on the same level of clear talent as Hyland.
