The article should be condemned because it was very disrespectful. What I'm saying is I understand why the writer is so angry. The writers anger is misplaced and should be directed towards the Jamaican goverment, who has been selling out the country for years. The Jamaican goverment runs the country like its the tourist industry. They have a busboy and waiter mentality, that is to cater to everyone except the Jamaican people.  I can't count how many times I have heard Trinis making comments about how they have to give Jamaica handouts. You don't sell out your country to people who think so low of you. When people degrade your country and your culture you don't invite them in your home. You don't go to their home and ask for a drink of water either, because they will spit in it before they give it to you.

You gave me one example of someone talking bad about Trinis but its not something you hear of often. The difference is that this is a regular thing with Trinis.

Hopefully this is my last post on this subject.
Do u need a hug, really it sounds like you are having quite a bad day. Though like I said u seem to have a bad case of tunnel vision and kinda sound like them old men playing checkers in the village on sunday. You whole thing about Jamaica this Jaimaica is slightly disturbing because where i grew up in the states, all of us WestInidan kids stuck together an though we were all different islands and would tease each other about our different islands that never broke the unity between us. So of my Other West Indians friends and yes the yardies that i showed this post 2 where just shell shocked with your bitter tirade over ....what were u arguing about again, seems like the point was lost.

As for you statement about trying to be Jamaican you must be damn mad, I am what I am a TrinBagonian in the true sense of the word. I love my other island folk and the other west Indians attached to the main land. You on the other hand got some serious soul searching to do cause you seem to be mad an probably disgruntled at yourself. This craziness about hating Ja culture not sure where u getting from, prob the same place you getting your volumes of information about us that is soooo pinpoint accurate. I had no idea you were an Anthropologist and a specialist in regards to Trini's and the rest of the smaller isles, Though you still smaller than some of them. Pls I hope u do continue
with the train of thought.

You have Jamaican friends and that's great for you. I also met some Trinis that were really cool, but I tend to look at the whole aspect of everything rather than the small minority. I'm sure there are Sunnis and Shiites that get along very well, but for the most part they're killing each other. Your statement is like George Bush showing the rest of the world a small part of iraq thats peaceful and try to use it to say the war is a success. I'm a different person than you are and probably alot different from the Jamaicans you grew up with, or hang around with. Like I said, most Jamaicans are oblivious to the way other islanders think of them.

Many Jamaicans are just caught up in the happy party, enjoy yourself part of the culture and is blind to the world because they care nothing about the economic and political aspect. This is why they go to places like the cayman Islands as well as other islands and get treated like shit. They are stunned at the treatment they receive. Jamaicans are so caught up in there culture that they don't even know the culture is suffering from over exposure. I said before, Jamaicans have an aggressive, confident culture. Where ever they go they will set up shop and be Jamaicans. Jamaicans are so proud of their culture that they try to share it with everyone. This comes across as Jamaicans trying to force their culture on others. I have never seen a Jamaican holding anyone hostage and forcing oxtail and brown stew chicken down their throats. I have never seen a Jamaican holding anyone down and forcing them to listen to reggae music. I talk about the Trinis because they are the biggest rivals, that doesn't mean the hate and resentment doesn't come from others also.

Example:
I work with a Antiguan and someone from Dominica they all seemed cool. One day I overheard them talking about the fastest man in the world. They were saying that the fastest man in the world is a african. They don't watch track & field but their logic for saying it was a african was because africa is the motherland, and africans live a rough life so they have to be the fastest. I decided to correct them and explained to them that the world fastest man right now is Asafa Powell who's Jamaican. Immediately their attitude changed, I became another arrogant Jamaican, all I did was state something that was fact. Another time we had a conversation about hip hop. I mentioned the fact that Hip Hop originated from Jamaican culture. Once again I was a Jamaican bragging and boasting. All I did was make a statement that was fact just to enlighten them. There is another guy we work with who's american and guyanese. This guy really likes Jamaican culture and talks about Jamaican entertainers alot. The other two gets upset because the man talks about reggae and try to remind him that he's not Jamaican. The antiguan guy came to work one day talking about how he bought a beef patty and the cashier called it a Jamaican beef patty. Is logic towards that was he has been seeing patties in Antigua since he was a boy. It got to the point that one of them started saying all Jamaican women are whores because he saw a few Passa Passa dvds.

After they see that I'm getting serious they start claiming they're only joking. These are people who go to Jamaican clubs every weekend and Jamaican restaurants regularly, but for some reasaon they can't hide the resentment they have for Jamaicans. You claim its just about football but ask some of my relatives who has tried to work in some of these islands and they will tell you how they are treated. These people as much as some of them admire Jamaican culture, want their own cultural identity. They feel threatened and feel as if Jamaicans are trying to impose their lifestyle on them. I can admit that some Jamaicans do go to these countries with the badman attitude. The question is why should I or any other Jamaican feel ashamed. Some of you might want to sugarcoat things but I tell it like I see it. Our cricket team can't even get along, thats why they suck so bad. From what I've heard, the Trini and Jamaicans on the team are always arguing back and forth.

One poster mentioned how she has Jamaican friends, but also had to mention that Jamaicans don't appreciate other cultures. The poster also mentioned that Jamaicans try to impose their culture on the rest of the caribbean. So even though the poster has Jamaicans friends he/she still has animosity towards Jamaicans. I bet your Jamaican friends don't even know that you feel that way. So my point has been proven once again.

You all can go your way and feel that because we all might end up at a Jouvert party together that everything is all good. I can go my way and feel that just because I can basically have any woman I want( whether it be a Trini or whom ever) because of my good looks, that everything is all good. I have to focus on reality, I'm not preaching hate I'm bringing things to light. How can we focus on these issues if we continue to be blind. It's not just about football, that rivalry is an extension of all the animosity we have towards each other.

I have to focus on this because all the negativity is starting to affect my people. Instead of Jamaicans holding their heads up and say look at me I'm Jamaican and I'm setting a great example. They are starting to hold their heads down and separate themselves and say look I'm not like them.

If anyone read my post correctly they would see that I did not say that anyone was trying to be Jamaican. I said sometimes they are accused of it. Where in any of my post do you see me preaching hate. I call it how I see it, if you all thing life is just what you see in your little box then that's your problem. The average Jamaican would be shocked at what I'm saying because the average Jamaican only has Jamaican friends.

Dude you stressed. I can see it in the way you right. When last you prayed? fuh real !!!!   I am not here to fuss with you since you obviously have tuh be a comedian I will laugh with you.

It is a fact that alot of Trinis and J'cans don't get along. I feel this is because Trinidad is known as the Mother of the Caribbean and took care of all the other countries only to be spat upon by them in the later years. We then move to other countries (Jealousy) only not to be recognised as Trinis but JAs. When we look in the News the most of the West Indians that get in Trouble are JAs and alot (realize I do not use the word ALL) alot of JAs act like they are better than everyone else because their country is so famous for the music. (Something JA owes tuh the Great BOB MARLEY).

This site on the other hand we all have fun and I can be sure tuh say that no one hate the other. We are almost always glad when RF and JA2099 is on the site just to cause a argument and debate about the best TEAM. This does not mean we hate them. I am sure we can all be in at a game between JA and TnT and enjoy the game together and after (TnT wins of course  ;D )

Did you even wonder how your fellow JA country men that frequent this site have been on here alot since you started posting and have not come to you aid (not that you need any) or even to make some sort of agreement with you. I believe it is because they understand that this site does not portray hate but love for Sports and discussions  :arguing: on all topics.

Just for example let me place a quote from another thread here

The reason we does say we not insular is because we doh have nobody bawlin down the place for TNT players. We neva boycott when they drop Murray eh play Gray and doh talk bout Lara breakin the regional record and cyah make the side. I eh evn go talk bout Dhanraj and now M'hmmed

B'dos boycott for Anderson Cummings. Some of u younguns may ask Anderson who????????. Yes the 40 yr old who play for Canada once played for the WI.

Whether we insular or is not the point it have nuff insularity to go around

So I guess only Barbados insular???
What about Jamaica, or Guyana?
If Tnt not insular, how U explain the tone and reaction on this same board?

Lara was a genius batsman that made the whole ah we proud. Even as a Jakan, cricket people would start conversation bout Lara to me here in Europe. However, we also know bout his indiscretions. I am just asking for balnce.

Personally, I love Laraand would buy him a drink anytime I see him, DESPITE the fact that he has PERSONAL issues with Jamaicans (I guess he has not met the right ones, can happen U know) LoL. A pal of mine living in TnT approached Lara for a handshake and to give congrats and he was rebuffed owing to his accent. Is that proper? I dont think so, but it may reflect some bad experience that Brian had. I hope we cn move past that.

I have never personally visited TnT, but I used to conduct business with counterparts there. My interactions have always been positive and my impression of the country and culture is overwhelmingly positive. I love TnT too, and I am a Jkana who never set foot there. The culture, the people, the dynamism ...everything is compelling.

So some do  have issues but not ALL as you tend to genaralize

alter ego, i have read all of your ranting and raving and you seem to have a one-sided opinion on the issue.

first of all you said you never heard ah jamaican talk bad about trinis....if you read the initial post i quoted a so-called prominent jamaican saying that all he had to give trinis was a piece of bread and taxi fare and they good with that. yuh probably need to ask if he treats his fellow countrymen the same way??? i know too much jamaicans for you to taint my view on them. you make them seem ignorant and clueless by saying most of them dont know how others feel towards them. just as i didnt catagorise all jamaicans for this idiot's remark..the same way you need to stop catagorising trinis for whatever transpired between you and yuh ex-gyal.

the intent for my post was to show the difference in cultural habits. nobody said anything about jamaicans forcing their culture on anyone...if anything i was complementing them for their togetherness!!! but you went off on ah tangent that seems more personal that practical. to talk as general as you did about indians in trinidad and trini women was totally out of place. if you really want to go there, why do the average jamaican be-little jamaican whites and indians by telling them they feel they better than? i agree with one of the posters saying that sometimes trinis have to defend their culture against others....i interpreted that as people outside of the caribbean. foreigneers have only been able to identify jamaica with the caribbean because of the popularity of your music and the high migration of your people throughout the world. so dont blame trinis for standing up for their culture. it come like you calling a canadian an american!!
how would you like for people to identify you as being from trinidad everytime you open your mouth? as proud and passionate as you sound you would be defending your culture as well. so be careful how you voicing your personal opinion and turning it into facts in your head!!! :beermug: :beermug:
football...the one true life experience!!!

Alter ego, i am the last trini to get involved in such a non sensical discussion, but in this case i will make an exception and intervene. you seem to be very nationalistic and equally in denial because you spoke for a whole nation, and how un realistic and rediculus is that. no two ppl are alike, even siblings, or closer, twins. there is good and bad ppl every where, the world is filled with a## holes period. to bad you had unpleasant experiences with trini's , but trinidad and tobago is almost two million ppl, did you meet the whole two million? any one from any country could've wrote what you wrote . bc the same holds for some one of another nation. there are ppl in trini who never  saw or even interact with any Jamaican people in their whole lives, and as you said are oblivious as to how Jamaicans feel about them. so that doesn't only apply to Jamaicans and trini , but for every one. if you were to go to EDR where i am from in Trinidad you would be amazed to see all the love you would get from the ppl. that hate you talked about i never saw in the EDR, never! the ppl love reggae and could tell you about every reggae artiste by name, some ppl even went as far as to say Trinidad is the land of reggae because they play more reggae in trini than soca!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          a wise man once said , if you want to know a ppl you should eat with them and live with them. i lived in Jamaica for almost two years, and i met Jamaicans who never left Jamaica and hated every one except Jamaicans, i also met Jamaicans who would not even talk to me BC i was from trini especially the middle age upper class ones, i met ppl who had absolutely nothing good to say about Trinidad, just like that ignorant woman from the gleaner, buttttttttttt!!!!! I also met wonderful warm hearted ppl who was so happy to see a fellow Caribbean islander and treated me with the uttermost respect and kindness, so i believe that's the norm every where there is ppl. just a classic case of human nature.                                                                                                                                                                                       I man don't believe in trini, jamdown, bados, GT,and all the other slave colonies, BC that's what it is. places where our ancestors was brought to cut cane and make that witch in england and her progeny rich. so lets love each other and let us see the big picture, cause we done in the belly of the beast(Babylon) so lets make the best of it, and stop this f##kry bout T&T and yard and all the rest ah dem slave colonies idiot rivalry. and alter ego please dont be so general in your statments, subjectivness is a sin, try to be more objective.      positive
The pen is mightier than the sword, Africa for Africans home and abroad.Trinidad is not my home just a pit stop, Africa is my destination, final destination the MOST HIGH.

I also met wonderful warm hearted ppl who was so happy to see a fellow Caribbean islander and treated me with the uttermost respect and kindness, so i believe that's the norm every where there is ppl. just a classic case of human nature.                                                                                                                                                                                       I man don't believe in trini, jamdown, bados, GT,and all the other slave colonies, BC that's what it is. places where our ancestors was brought to cut cane and make that witch in england and her progeny rich. so lets love each other and let us see the big picture, cause we done in the belly of the beast(Babylon) so lets make the best of it, and stop this f##kry bout T&T and yard and all the rest ah dem slave colonies idiot rivalry. and alter ego please dont be so general in your statments, subjectivness is a sin, try to be more objective.      positive

Thing Trinis are passionate about:
Soca
Hating Jamaicans
Hating anyone who like Jamaicans
The most hateful of all are the indian Trinis who is very passionate about keeping their blood pure indian.

Football is definately not one of them.

When speaking about Trini’s and the sport we call football we then to be lackadaisical or like someone said earlier some of us have that “we reach” type of attitude. It hinders some of our younger players to reach thier fullest potential most of the times. Nothing’s wrong with being ah lil cocky… but we let it get to our heads, then we end up like some ah we nah.   We Talented but we have no disapline. Tell we weh thee party is and nuff drinks and we they. Yuh should ah tell them men, yuh have Heineken after thee sweat…guess what? :beermug:
The ball is like a magnet if you continue to knock it…it will attract, and then you can attack.  Get it?

I mentioned the fact that Hip Hop originated from Jamaican culture :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:.

I can go my way and feel that just because I can basically have any woman I want( whether it be a Trini or whom ever) because of my good looks :rotfl:, that everything is all good.

The average Jamaican would be shocked at what I'm saying because the average Jamaican only has Jamaican friends:thinking:

I decided to pay you all a visit and I saw that this thread was still going, so I decided to take a look. Then I noticed that you highlighted the part about hip hop coming from Jamaican culture and laughed. You also laughed at me talking about my good looks, how did I miss that the first time.  :-\

Ok, I will address the Hiphop thing just by telling you to look up DJ Kool Herc. As far as my good looks, I'm sure if there's any women on this forum they can tell just by the way I type.

I do have a request, I would like you all to beat Canada for me. If you do this I promise to stop taking all your women.

I have not bragged about yard not even once in any of my post, dont let me run up your blood pressure. I have ways of getting my point across even though it may come across kind a harsh. As a matter of fact even jamaicans dont like the way I say things. Whether or not anyone agrees with me, I always get people to look into the situation. You did say lets unite and I like that, so respect to you.
