Jamaica and Bahamas win big on second day.

Jamaica eased to a 12-0 victory over St Vincent and the Grenadines in their opening match of the Caribbean Football Union Under 15 Youth Cup at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Centre of Excellence on Thursday.
They were led by Christopher Waugh who got struck a handful of goals in the 34th, 36th, 37th, 57th and 60th minutes to send the youthful but powerfully structured “Reggae Boyz” to their first win of the tournament.
With Captain Horace Burrell looking on from the stands, the Jamaicans seemed to have had a fight on their feet in the early stages as the Zoran Vranes coached Vincentians kept them at bay  in the early stages. But they went ahead in the 17th minute when John-Ross Doyley converted a penalty.
Their second item didn’t come until the 33rd minute when Romario Campbell beat three defenders on his way goalwards and shot home from a tight angle on the left of the six yard box.
Waugh then got his first item a minute later on an easy tap in to an open goal  after Jemuel Hutchings mistimed an attempted clearance with goalkeeper Imari Joseph totally beaten by the incoming right side delivery.
The goal of the match didn’t take too much longer to arrive as Dever Orgill headed on to Waugh’s path and he powered a left footed volley from just inside the left of the penalty area.
It became 5-0 when Waugh easily slotted home with the Vincentian defense in total disarray.
Adrian Christian then got his name on the score chart when he met a right side cross and eased it past the stranded goalie six minutes before the half ended. There was still sufficient time for two further items for Ateba Morgan in the 41st and Orgill in the 44th to leave the Jamaicans handsomely in front 8-0 at the break.
The difference got worse for St Vincent as Waugh got another double and substitute Jeffrey Johnson struck a pair in the 86th and 88th minutes.
In the earlier game of the double header at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Bahamas ran all over British Virgin Islands (BVI) to come away 16-1 winners.
They got their goals from Noel Cancino (2nd, 58th, 75th), captain Michael Bethel (4th, 12th), Duran Mitchell (10th, 36th, 48th, 51st, 89th), Craig Smith (20th) and a third time taken penalty in the 90th, Jared Higgs (53rd)  Shem Moss (59th, 66th, 73rd). Alec Anderson pulled a consolation item back for BVI in the 61st minute. On Friday, Jamaica takes on Bahamas at 12 noon and BVI meet St Vincent and the Granadines from 2pm at the same venue.
Dominica complete comeback win.

In Group D action of the CFU Youth Cup at Guaracara Park in South, Trinidad, Martinique came away hardfought 4-2 winners over Suriname in the first game of a double header on Thursday afternoon.
In the second game, the affair turned out to be an evenly contested one with Guyana and Puerto Rico playing to a 1-1 draw. Hector Ramos pushed Puerto Rico ahead in the 37th minute and Kevin Beaton ensured Guyana didn’t go home empty handed as he got the equalizer in the 65th minute.
Across at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Tobago, the scheduled opening match between Canada and Grenada had to be rescheduled to Saturday as the Canadians had difficulty in getting a flight to T&T following the plane crash in their country earlier this week. They were scheduled to come in on Thursday night.
But the second game went ahead as scheduled with Dominica coming away 5-3 winners in a keenly contested match at the DY Stadium.
Anthony Clement opened the scoring for St Lucia in the 2nd minute and Jamil Joseph had them up 2-0 in the 15th minute. Wayne Carbon then pulled a goal back via a penalty in the 17th minute only to see Clement push the lead to 3-1 three minutes later. But Dominica were all but out of the contest and they stormed back with goals by Mosiah Challenger in the 50th minute, another penalty strike by Carbon in the 53rd and Raymond Sylvester and Allington Fritz completed the remarkable comeback with items in the 85th and 87th minutes.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Thanks for the pictures and reports. Gosh ah wish it had these things when I was growing up. Man the pictures of national unity looked real good. Lot of empty  seats in the stands though.
Is this tournament not well received back home?
