Under-17s tackle U-20s at Marvin Lee…Foreign players arrive for ceremony
By Shari John (T&T Guardian)

The national Under-17 women’s footballers will clash with their U-20 counterparts this afternoon at Marvin Lee Stadium (MLS) in Macoya, from 5.20 pm.The match is a part of their (the U-17s) preparation for the 2010 Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup which will be held in T&T.

On Saturday, Fifa vice-president, Jack Warner will launch the official World Cup emblem for the tournament in a gala event at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Wrightson Road, in the presence of top international players (American Hope Solo, Canadian Christine Sinclair and Brazilian captain Aline Pellegrino) and the president of the Brazilian Football Federation, Ricardo Texiera.

Pellegrino arrived in T&T yesterday while Solo and Sinclair are expected to fly in tonight. While here, the trio will take part in a special training session with the U-17 team tomorrow at the MLS, from 4 pm.

U-17 coach, Even Pellerud believes the interaction with Pelegrino, Solo and Sinclair, the leading Canadian goalscorer, will leave a lasting impression on the young national footballers. “These are international players. I know they will inspire our local girls, many of whom got their breaks playing in youth tournaments. I want the girls to see it is possible.” Pellerud explained that the session will be more of a morale booster than a skills assessment session.

The teams

U-20: Kimika forbes, Cassey Mc Kenzie, Sharice Arthur, Stephanie Bean, Tianna Batoe, Natasha St Louis, Karen Forbes, Afiya Matthias, Kamile De Gale, Mariah Shade, Stacy Paul, Denille Jack, Felina Jack, Jenelle Kissoon, Afya Penco, Jarneil Goodridge, Annastacia Lewis, Stephani Reid, Marlon Charles (coach), Kenrick Hoyte (manager).

Under-17s beat older girls.
T&T Express Reports.

The Trinidad and Tobago Under-17 women's team continued their preparations for next year's FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup with a 2-0 victory over the national Under-20 women's team on Thursday at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.

Coached by Noregian Evan Pellarud, the well-organised Under-17s got a goal in each half from Karyn Forbes and Camille Borneo to grab victory.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
