Pfister's first session set for May 2nd.
« on: April 21, 2011, 04:43:45 PM »
Pfister's first session set for May 2nd.
By: Shaun Fuentes (TTFF).

National Senior Team Head Coach Otto Pfister will conduct his first training session at the Ato Boldon Stadium on the morning of May 2.

This was confirmed today as the pool of home-based players invited for training was finalized. Pfister will return from his trip to Europe by then and will have his staff on board with him for those sessions that run up until May 30th.

The next FIFA international date is scheduled for June 2 but no opposition has yet been confirmed.

Pfister will also meet with the clubs of the T&T Pro League to discuss his intentions for the team and to develop a cordial relationship between both sides.

“The training will officially commence on May 2 involving the players who have been selected on a provisional squad,” TTFF Technical Adviser Keith Look Loy told TTFF Media.

“This  squad currently does not include the overseas-based players due to their unavailability for the said period of training.

Coach Pfister will also meet with the officials of the respective Pro League clubs on May 10 to share his views and vision for the National Team and working towards a cordial relationship among everyone concerned.”

The list of players for the first set of training sessions include experienced Caledonia AIA midfielder Densill Theobald, Clyde Leon who captained the team at the 2010 Digicel Caribbean Cup, goalkeepers Marvin Phillip, Jan Michael Williams and Cleon John as well as Cornell Glen and Andre Toussaint.

Former Under 20 player Micah Lewis of Joe Public has also been called up as well as National Under 20 captain Sheldon Bateau.

Kevin Molino who has reportedly signed for American club Orlando City has been included on the list and is likely to be available for training.

In a recent interview Pfister said he was impressed by the level of potential carried by the players in T&T.

“Skill, natural technique… You see a lot of that natural ability here. They have music and football in their blood. Now we have to ally that with physical discipline, tactics and all the other stuff.

The technique is there, but now we need to have a more professional conception,” Pfister said.

NB: The full Technical staff of the Senior Team will be officially announced in due course by the TTFF.

Me eh relly sure what going on wit he. He signed wit Orlando, but den couldn't play because of a visa/work permit issue. Den Orlando say de visa issue was cleared up and he was eligible to play. But up to now me eh see he name show up on de team sheet for any match. Now he being called up for senior team training. Like ah have tuh do some investiquiring.

Who do you think was ultimately to blame for Maturana's failure, Matas, Latas or the TTFF?

If you can answer that question you might realise that nothing has changed and we are in exactly the same position as before when Maturana was here!  ;)
