Lincoln City sign Jake Thomson from Newport County
By Leigh Curtis (This is Lincolnshire)

Lincoln City have signed Newport County's Jake Thomson on loan as they look to reinforce their midfield.

The Imps have lost both Mo Fofana and Gary Mills to injury over the festive period and City boss David Holdsworth has wasted no time in bringing in Thompson to shore up the middle.

Thomson, 23, heads to Sincil Bank from the Welsh side on a one-month loan deal with a view to a two month extension.

He is still young too...ah wonder what is his career plan though, is he just good enough to be where he is, or will a good break see him make progress in a higher league?

The Imps. really??

Maybe he needs to come back and play with TT for the GC. It may revive his career.

Jake Thomson says joining Lincoln City was 'easy' after revealing club wanted him in the summer
By Leigh Curtis (This is Lincolnshire)

Jake Thomson insisted joining Lincoln City was an "easy decision" after revealing boss David Holdsworth tried to sign him in the summer.

The Newport midfielder made his debut in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Ebbsfleet just two days after putting pen to paper on a one-month loan deal.

Thomson said he had no hesitation in signing for Holdsworth having spoken to him about a move at the end of last season.

Jake Thomson wants to catapult Lincoln City back towards play-off place
Lincolnshire Echo

Jake Thomson wants to catapult Lincoln City back towards the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off race – at the expense of Newport County's title rivals.

The Imps face four promotion contenders over the next three weeks as the race for promotion to the Football League heats up.

Lincoln begin their tough run of fixtures on Saturday when they host Thomson's parent clubNewport.

Conditions of his loan prevent him from playing against his team-mates, but he will be eligible for games against Luton, Forest Green Rovers and Wrexham.

He hopes victory against all three of the division's big spenders will propel Lincoln further up the table and make a pivotal contribution to Newport's title push.
