Ganga speaks at Independence Cup in Canada
Monday, September 1 2014
Newsday

Trinidad and Tobago Sport Ambassador Daren Ganga yesterday addressed guests and participants at the third annual Independence Day Cricket Classic, a tri-nation Twenty20 tournament held in Canada to commemorate this country’s 52nd year of independence.

Ganga was hosted by Dr Vidhya Gyan Tota-Maharaj, Consul General for this country in Toronto.

The tournament featured a Canada Invitational team and Jamaica in a play-off to face Trinidad and Tobago in the final. The event was held at the University of Toronto Scarborough Facility with the Canadians defeating Jamaica to setup a clash with TT.

The hosts were in a strong position against TT in the final up to press time yesterday. Chasing a daunting 172 for victory, TT, captained by Rishaad Harris and featuring Emile Rajah, were in a bit of trouble at 29 for three.Speaking to Newsday yesterday, Ganga expressed pride to be part of the annual event.“It’s been very good so far. It’s an opportunity to interact with the TT diaspora which we must recognise as important.

As we celebrate fifty- two years of independence we must recognise our forefathers and continue to try and develop at a fast pace.

Our diaspora plays an important part in continuing that development,” he declared.

Dear Mr Cameron,

As noted to you in a few emails , the diaspora intents to get involved in West Indies cricket . We are slowly gaining momentum , membership and finances...Note the last line below...

We intend to hold 12 men responsible  and changes are inevitable .

Soon we will be moving to the USA and England in partnership.

Have a great day
