Richmond Kickers sign Uriah Bentick
richmondkickers.com

The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce the addition of defender Uriah Bentick for the remainder of the 2015 season.  Bentick will be available for selection when the Kickers take on New York Red Bulls II at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, July 25.

Bentick was drafted by the Philadelphia Union in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft and then signed with the Wilmington Hammerheads in April where he made 15 appearances with the USL side.  Following a stint at the Carolina RailHawks (NASL) in 2014, he returned to Trinidad to play for Central FC.

The 6’2” defender featured three times with the Trinidad and Tobago U20 National Team before making 63 appearances and notching eight goals and nine assists over his four year career at Liberty University. He totaled three All-Big South team selections, including two first-team selections and a second team nod.

Following a gap in the regular season schedule last weekend that allowed the Kickers to host West Bromwich Albion of the English Premier League in an international friendly, the Kickers return to USL action when they travel to New York Red Bulls II this Saturday.  The Kickers return to City Stadium one week later to host Craft Beer Fest and the Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday, August 1.
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

Uriah was not utilised enough at Central. IMO he's a big player and I hoped that Stephen Hart would see more of him and take him into the squad. He didn't get enough minutes on the pitch, neither did Upston Edwards the Jamaican defender or Borfor Carr.
If Central want to compete in Champions League, these are the players they should be keeping.

Basically the idea of providing a platform for Bentick to contend for/secure a NT place, didn't work ... and now, he's with Richmond Kickers, still essentially off the radar, albeit likely better compensated.

Attended the Railhawks v Rowdies game some weeks back and was numbed by the monotony of play. Made me reflect on what Bentick's spell there must have been like because all I witnessed was a LOT of uninspired play ... by BOTH teams. Futty Danso was probably the best player on the park.

Yeah, I get teams play with a measure of caution, but if what I saw with the Railhawks and Rowdies is emblematic of the league ... it goh be real hard for a fella to distinguish himself out of that enterprise-less environment without the NT coach being there in-person to ketch any subtleties the player may have to offer.

Good size crowd ... iz only after I remembered that the owner is part of the DOJ's FIFA web/sting. The club seems to be marching on fine.

Anyhow, Uriah ... it might not be too late to ride out to a semi-greener pasture.

P.S. Update yuh Wiki as a first step. Yuh giving/leaving de impression that you've been discarded. Be yuh own agent, son.

@FS ... why didn't Central keep him?
