FIFA Pulls Consquence out of Vice-President Scandal
(Die Zeit)19 Apr 2006
(Hamburg) - The world football federation, FIFA, will pull consequence out of the scandal over vice president Jack Warner, and will create a new council that is supposed to better redress internal violations. A proposal will be introduced at the FIFA congress held in Munich in June. FIFA president Joseph Blatter tells the ZEIT, "We want to create an independent legal council ... we have seen that the ethics committee doesn't work. So we're going to change something.
The ethics committee had determined Warner conflicted with their code of ethics. The official had artificially raised prices on Trinidad's allotment of World Cup tickets and sold them through a family owned travel agency. Still we was only cited by FIFA, but not released.
