Who will be named the 2006 Player of the year?

By Randy Bando... www.ttproleague.comThe ‘2006 Player of the Year’ will be revealed on Saturday when the TT Pro League hosts its 2006 Awards ceremony at the Festival Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Trinidad.
The gala event would feature a number of awards to be handed out from the youth to senior divisions with the Player of the Year award being the highlight on the evening.
The ‘Player of the Year’ 2006 is once again a hotly contested battle, the winner will come from one of the three nominees – Jabloteh midfielder Trent Noel, W Connection goalkeeper Jan Michael Williams and W Connection striker Andre Toussaint.
However, the likes of Caledonia’s Sheldon Emanuel, Jabloteh’s Aurtis Whitley and even Superstar Rangers Kerwyn Jemmott were all in the fray challenging for the prestigious award.
The 2006 TT Pro League season ended with B Mobile Joe Public taking the illustrious League title ahead of First Citizens Cup winners Vibe CT 105 W Connection.
The Courts Pro Bowl which was the first knockout title of the season was copped by CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh who also won the Lucozade Sport Big Six Title at the end of the season, while United Petrotrin boasted the Toyota Classic Title proving the league is no longer a two horse race.
The 2006 Awards will begin with the under 14, 16, and 18 Youth Players of the Year receiving their awards. They would then be followed by the Referee of the Year, Match Commissioner of the Year and Team Administrator of the Year who would also be awarded.
The Coach of the Year, Most Disciplined Team of the Year and then to the all important Team of the Year award will also be revealed.
There would also be for the first time in the League’s history, the ‘Sports Writer’s’ awards going to the Best Goalkeeper of the Year, Best Defender of the Year, Best Midfielder of the Year and Best Forward of the Year.
And finally the presentation of awards would be concluded with the most coveted award on the night handed out to the Player of the Year.
