Discussing team's readiness for Egypt... I came in late, but here are some excerpts:-
- Asked if under pressure to perform WELL at U-20 Championship given that his team is widely regarded as one of the best preparared T&T teams EVER, Vranes said team is a work-in-progress, hoping to peak n time for Egypt game
- Vranes cited ITALY game as key to progressing to 2nd round... joked that the TWO BEST games are the FIRST and LAST games of a tournament.. said "... we are in first game would be nice to also be in last..."
- Vranes believes that team needs to work more on MENTAL preparation - cited the game vs Brazil where team conceded 3 goals to lose 3-2 afer leading 2-0... Manager says attempt being made to secure professional help while on tour
- Leston feels previous tours helped get team accustomed to faster pace of International game... and players would not be as "SHELL-SHOCKED" as when they played at U-17 level
- Leston said he can't speak for OTHER players, but HE, persnally was ready for opening game even with an estimated 80,000 Egyptian supporters supporting the home team
Unfortunately there was no live call-in so I was unable to all and ask about the UK-based players joining the team and what, if any scouting of the opposition was being planned/done
