Alexis, Smith give Santa Rosa U-17 title

Robert Alexis and Joel Smith scored two minutes apart as 1st FC Santa Rosa came from behind to beat Joe Public 2-1 and capture the inaugural National Super League Under-17 Division on Thursday. Going into their virtual title decider at the Larry Gomes Stadium Training Field, Joe Public who led the table needed a draw to be champions.
Rondell Elie had his Joe Public team-mates within reach of the title after his 32nd minute strike put them 1-0 ahead. However, in the space of two minutes into a second-half span of intense pressure, Santa Rosa turned the match around.
First, Alexis drew the Santa Rosa club level in the 65th minute before Smith fired in the eventual match winner two minutes later.
Both Joe Public and Santa Rosa will also meet in the Under-15 age-group decider tomorrow after both won their third match on the trot on Thursday.
