Carlos Edwards eyes management role – but not yet
By Dave Gooderham (Ipswich Star)

Not that the evergreen Ipswich Town captain is considering quitting the game after an impressive start to the season, following on from his players’ player of the year trophy last year.

Edwards, 33, was named man of the match in Town’s last away match, when then-league leaders Brighton were held 1-1 at the Amex Stadium.

But while very few left-wingers have got the better of him despite Town’s underwhelming start to the season, Edwards has still thought about life away from football.

He said: “I would love to get in management one day. That’s the beauty of football – you never know what to expect.”

Edwards has twice played under Roy Keane and has been a revelation – and a virtual ever-present - since Paul Jewell converted him to right-back.

The Blues boss recently revealed that any appearances from summer signing Elliott Hewitt would be a bonus this season, suggesting he has no concerns about Edwards on the right-hand-side of his defence.

The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.
