He has. Arguably, the genius of a pass he delivered to assist Griezmann was tougher to execute than the penalty he didn't score. Frankly, I had no confidence he would convert it. Became his by default.

Hoping for City. Pellegrini.

That will be something if City wins the CL. Pellegrini will get the last laugh.

Maybe I was watching the wrong game. But didn't Gareth scored the only goal today. Like a cross-shot, and the ball hit the inside of the post and went in?

Yep. I saw the goal and actually saw Fernanhdino outstretched foot but did not see the deflection. But hard luck there to City and for Pellegrini. I think he is a very good coach. But the pressures of the big money in the EPL and CL are overwhelming. Win or die.

City were EXTREMELY LUCKY to make it this far.  Reminds me of Chelsea when they parked the bus the entire knock out round and "won" on penalties in 2012

Always baffles me that teams that are stacked with excellent, technical players play scared football and can hardly get out of their own half, far less mount a meaningful attack in 90 minutes

They certainly lacked enterprise. Pity about Kompany doh. That movement he engaged in, just prior to pulling up, suggested promise. Mangala did creditably but he is a different player.

The better team advanced. No doubt.

Also no David Silva to interact with Kun Agüero. Thought Sterling was too predictable on the left. But seems Pellegrini didn't want him dealing with Marcelo. Seemed worthy of investigation.

DeBruyne was disappointing.

Fernando and Fernandinho didn't generate anything of note. No need to comment on Toure Yaya.

Every time I watch Bale and Modric, I say thank goodness they left England. Buh ah doh want to discuss Real. Will leave it there.

City can't played end to end football without a solid defence. When they have Kompany, they play that open attack game. But since his injury(ies), they have been a tentative team when playing teams with equal talent.
