I would love to be wrong, but ah feel de match done. Only thing left to happen is an expulsion.

A tale of individual brilliance and individual errors. What the hell was Alex Sandro thinking with that casual header?

Wha ah tell yuh? Ramos should ah hold a second yellow too. Steups. Nonetheless, not for the first time, Cuadrado played right into that.

Was at the Etihad to take in Shakhtar. Shakhtar produced a very organised brand in the 1st half. For large periods of the match (until City scored), the distance between City's back line and Donetsk's was no more than 25-30 yards. I will leave that there ...

City still have work to do, if they want to lift the trophy.

That was a gutsy call by the ref, plus he gave Buffon a red!

Correct call!. Feeling bad for Juve. To come at Real home and drop 3 on them is real great football. But that was a bad tackle. The ball close proximity to 2 of them made the call inevitable.

In this interview from last year, Buffon fields a question about what he imagines his last game with the national team would be like.

From ~3:15. Although what occurred today happened with his club and not the NT, the parallels of the comments make for one of those compelling football anecdotes or footnotes .... especially because he also touches on hoping that Italy would qualify for Russia and as we know they did not.

"How do I imagine my last ever game?

... Maybe I'll go out like [Zinedine] Zidane, headbutting someone on the pitch!"

I just read that Buffon article and it's crazy bc he could've head butt the ref lol

In real time, it looks like a pen, however watching the replays it doesn't look conclusive. Don't know what Buffon said but even if he cussed the ref, I think the ref could've given him a yellow given the magnitude of the call. Plus Buffon has always been a model ambassador for the game. So long story short, I'm 50/50 on the pk but I think the red was excessive.

VAR should be used across the board in football or it should not be used at all.

Agreed. Get rid of the 2 officials behind the goal and implement VAR in these major competitions.

Maybe you missed that he pushed Michael Oliver in his back. Now while it did not necessarily look like it was intended, combine that (the refs interpretation that Buffon intentionally pushes him) with his fiery approach and it's an easy red.

Immense game, Juve played an almost perfect game. They switched off for 1 play and that decided the tie. Super performances from Matuidi, Costa, Chiellini, Mandzukic battered the real defense over and over.
Roma and Juve were titans in this round.

I lost £6.90 when Cronaldo scored that pen! Great game, got money on a sending off though, was definitely one of those games!
