...was thinking earlier of starting a "FIFA Club World Cup" thread, but yuh kinda beat meh to it....anybody see dem goals Santos scored yesterday?  all three of them was some top class goals!!

That tournament is sh*t.  They should leave the big dogs out, and let the smaller feds showcase their talent to the big team scouts.  Look how David gonna miss out on the rest of the season, and possibly Euro '12 for a trophy that the club probably doesn't care about.

I guess it's all part of the price to be paid.  Football, to those that "own" it and run it, is a product to be packaged, marketed and sold, to every one willing to buy it in every corner of the globe so they pushin' it every chance and means they can and those of us that are buying it can't seem to get enough of it.  While I agree that Silva getting injured in a tournament that isn't as important as the one you mentioned is not good for the team, (ah cyah speak fuh d club to say how much they do or don't care for said trophy) the football displayed by both top teams can't hurt the game any.  Unfortunately, the powers-that-be, see too much profits in this tournament than to exclude the giants

Guess I missed when David Silva left ManC for Barca...    ;D

Interesting draw. Milan is a tough opponent but Arsenal should go through. Should be a good tie though.

The intercontinental cup has been contested since 1960. It was merged with the Fifa world club cup in 2005. Funny enough, there are those who think that it should go back to the intercontinenal cup and drop the other federations until they can compete. Won't happen.

In any case, it wasnt' like if the man get kick down, he was running and step funny. That could happen in practice, ask Arsenal

From what I read he has been playing with shin pain for months... it turn out it was a small fissure in de tibia...
so this was bound to happen without proper rest... it coulda happen in de Clasico.. it coulda happen running down some stairs

Champions League Draw
« Reply #914 on: March 16, 2012, 05:33:28 AM »
Not a bad draw for Chelsea.

Champions League: Chelsea face Benfica in quarter-finals

Chelsea have been drawn to face Benfica in the Champions League quarter-finals, playing away in the first leg
.
If Chelsea triumph, they will meet the winners of the quarter-final between AC Milan and Barcelona with the first leg on home soil.

In the other last-eight ties, Apoel Nicosia play Real Madrid and Marseille take on Bayern Munich.
The quarter-final first legs will be played on 27 and 28 March with the second legs following on 3 and 4 April.

Uefa Champions League quarter-final draw in full
APOEL v Real Madrid
Marseille v Bayern Munich
Benfica v Chelsea
AC Milan v Barcelona
THE WARRIORS WILL NOT BE DENIED.

Way, back, early in the season, ah pick de final to be between Barca and Bayern...it lookin' possible. Ac Milan vs Barcelona go be the best games of the quarters, this isn't necessarily going to be a stroll in the park for Barca.

Milan prepared their pitch "well" for the game - was clear that they soaked it and made it heavy - Barca could not find their usual passing rhythm and speed... Effective gamesmanship I suppose.

Soaked it and made it heavy? Barca said that they refused to water it. Anyway, Barca went and complained to UEFA. Boo hoo hoo!!!

Well I eh no expert but it had plenty slippin an slidin and de ball did move slower on the ground than expected when Barca play.  So to me it indeed look like it was heavily watered.  Barca need to stop wgining and just handle business at home.

Milan to inconsistent to be trusted tuh beat whoever they play if they move on. I want a Bayern v Barca final or a Bayern v Real final. I have looked at the match ups to see if either is possible.

Plenty Milan fans grumbling about the 2nd penalty award.

I would say by the letter of the law it was a pk, but in the context of the game it was a favorable call for Barca. Dunno if i was the ref, if i would have given that especially as they got one already but that is just me.

I see Zlatan did his ghost impersonation in a big game again.
