When you miss a penalty, hit the post, and fall asleep defensively (on Ramires' goal), yuh can't blame the lack of a plan B.  Even with Chelsea locked up tight, Barca had enough chances to still come out of that game on top...especially in the first leg of the tie.  In this match there was nothing wrong with a lack of a plan B so to speak.  Lack of a plan B didn't cause Busquets to hoof the ball over the bar on a routine volley inside the box, lack of a plan B didn't cause Cech to pull off some really big saves....When a side lock up that tight yuh could have 100 plans, it go be real hard... I would say that the difference between this Barca and a Barca that might have been able to unlock Chelsea more effectively was individual dribbling.  Sometimes the passing just doesn't do the job but usually Messi and Iniesta can ghost by players and cause defenses to lose their shape, even when a side park the proverbial bus...but that wasn't working out - Iniesta seems to be a lil off his game, and Messi was always double covered and had no where to go...

Even the offside goal last night, by the letter of the law, Alves was offside, but it was very marginal...7 out of 10 times (esp if the linesman was on the other side of the field) that's a goal.

There's alot of "fortune" in football that tactics and analysis have no answer to.

Agreed, that is why I not really understanding all the panic buttons Barca pressing and the talk about Guardiola stepping down. To me that is a backward, knee jerk reaction.

Fact of the matter is that Barca is by far the best team anywhere in football. Just the fact that the only way to beat them is to abandon all principles and park the bus is a testament to what they are. They were lacking a few things, imo an out and out striker, an aerial threat and a more direct approach.. And they were short on luck.

They should look at this loss as a challenge to take into next year to make some changes to keep a good thing going.

Barca should use these losses as the motivation they was missing that cause it to get a lil stale this year, not a reason to rip up the blueprint.

I can't see how Guardiola leaving would push them forward.

Fair post, but sometimes a refresh does make all the difference.
WIth or without him, they will continue to achieve success in the near future.

Chelsea should be congratulated. Well done!

Personally I don't like that type of football, especially when one has one
of the most expensive squads assembled. All said I guess the end justify the means.

No need for over analysis, Barca did not finish their chances. It has been the same for the last
three games.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, yuh spot on with all your comments...so i look forward to a 'great' final of 'backs and forwards' sigh:(

YOu could cry boy, why did you all not beat Barca....stueps.

Elan meh bredren Observer just echoed my sentiments about (begrudgingly, for me at least) congratulating Chelsea, and everything else he say.

And who crying? I just really wanted to see Barca and Real/Bayern in de final, as to your comment bout "why did you all not beat Barca" yuh lost meh dey??

And really what kinda final you expecting now that Chelsea have shown their true colors and especially with 4 (?) starters missing?
Backs and mother c*&t Forwards, watch and see;)

Yeah they lil reactionary at the moment - that always happens in the heat of the moment.

There is so much pressure on them to win all the time because of the standard they set for themselves particularly with the style of football that they play - it real unique... Fact is though, yuh can't win all the time, and when yuh watch how dem two legs play off, Chelsea was just destined to win... 2-0 down and short a man, in Camp Nou and they still managed to pull it off?!?!... Barca hadda forget overthinking and analysis and say that's just how the cards does get deal sometimes.

Bora Milutinović woulda be proud of that game plan and execution.
Even though I don't like the clog-ball, I would show a tape of that game to any team I was coaching for them to understand what you could do when you follow the game plan and maintain discipline and concentration.
:beermug: That's exactly what I plan to do with this game, show it to my youth team to show them the importance of discipline, concentration and sticking to the game plan throughout the match. Even when faced with adversity.

Agreed the ball is round and some days don't matter what, things may not go in your favor. Most great teams tend to develop a mentality that even if they're down and things are not going there way during a game, eventually through a stroke of brilliance they'll prevail because they're superior. To me it seemed like Barca has been suffering from that syndrome lately and maybe it's a wake up call to the team to maintain their killer instinct and intensity throughout the game. I don't think Barca needs to change tactics or anything, they just need to be prepared to face the best of who ever they play because Barca has that bulls-eye on their back and teams will plan to do whatever it takes to beat them, even it it means stacking their defense.
