That ground has long been the home of Northern Rugby club (long before Superstar Rangers).
There are few grounds for rugby as it is. This will be a serious blow.
PantherX doh mean to offend you but there is nothing "serious" about Rugby in Trinidad when compared to football in a an area such as St. Anns.
Rugby in Trinidad continues to be an elitist sport with mostly upper class and upper middle class participation and support. I understand that there may be a lack of suitable rugby grounds for rich yuppies and their friends to frolic on, but I think it pales in comparison to the need for receration grounds for disadvantaged children in areas such as St. Anns and Belmont.
That, PantherX, would be the serious blow. I am sure that "the rich boys" could find somewhere else to play or pool resources to create a better place to play. The ghetto youths doh have either option.
I see your ignorance is boundless Jahyouth.
People of all backgrounds play rugby. Clubs such as Rainbow RFC (consisting entirely of rastafarians) Harvard Defense Force, YTC and Police must have changed in the 10 years I've been away since by your statement their membership must surely consist of "rich yuppies and their friends".
When I played our youth team consisted mainly of boys from Diego Martin Secondary (definitely an elitest institution) many of whom play for the first team today.
The camradrie and team spirit fostered by rugby is unmatched in any sport. Anyone who has the courage the take up rubgy invariably falls in love with the game.
Just because rugby is a minor sport does not make it unimportant.
I wonder if Trini whites didn't play rugby (more than any other sport) if it would still be an elitest sport in your eyes?
I suggest that you crawl under the rock you spawned from and stay there until you are capable of sensible discourse.
