Coventry fans on Stern's PK incident

IF GARY McSheffrey has the bottle to take penalties when it is a crucial match-winning situation and he is the nominated penalty taker then he should also have the opportunity to take the penalties when the situation is not as crucial to the result.

Stern John, even though I admire his skills, should have accepted that situation and needs to grow up, stop sulking and be more of a team player. :D Why spoil what was a great team and personal performance for him?

Carol Price, Hinckley

STERN JOHN should learn that football is a team sport.

Coventry's goal difference is minus-four after this win by five goals. If the score was 0-0 he would have no interest in taking the penalty; he would be thinking of what it would do to his World Cup place if he missed. I'm only glad his childish behaviour did not cause Gary McSheffery to miss.  >:(Goal difference may be very important.

Dave Thomas

ALTHOUGH Sheffers is the nominated penalty taker, at 4-1 up the opportunity should have been presented to Stern to complete his hat-trick.  :beermug:

That said, the alleged petulance shown by Stern was uncalled for. Time to act like responsible adults. We're in this together boys!!
John Darcy

GARY McSHEFFREY is Cov's penalty taker. I do believe Stern John has missed a couple last year
Ian McCord

I THINK McSheff was out of order and definitely selfish by insisting on taking the penalty instead of
offering it to Stern John so he could complete a rare hat trick (in any footballer's life).  :applause:

Up till then McSheffrey had been absolute garbage, missing at least two easy chances and a joke with a so-called price tag of £3million. Ha.! Disgusted with him.
Dave Kaczurr

IT WAS a great day for City and the fans; we needed a boost and it was a great win.
I understand that Mcsheffrey earned the penalty but I think he could have stepped aside and let Stern John take the kick. John has taken penalties before and I'm sure he would have put it in the net.

I think it was a bit selfish not to let John take the kick. I know McSheffrey is the team's top scorer but its not as though he is in the running for the Golden Boot.

Stern should be running into the box for a potential rebound goal not walking back to the center - that's what he's paid to do.  A penalty that someone else earned is a cheap way to get a hattick anyways.
Maybe McSheffrey saw the mess Stern put down from the spot against Mexico and decided he should take it for Stern's own benefit!

stern shoulda be a big man and respect that he did not get to take the penalty by just continuing and playing his game, on the other hand mcsheff shoulda let stern take the penalty to get his hattrick seeing that the side done up 4-1.
half slab stay focused doh let that worry u we go take a hattrick in nuremburg instead on june 15th.
