for reference what sort of strength US team it is that playing against Ecuador right now? (given MLS in full swing).
It looks like the MLS clubs released the US players that were called up eg Dempsey, Bradley, Beckerman, Zuzi etc. since they're in preparations for Copa America.
just about to answer my question with the quote by Klinsman - "if the world cup were today, this would be my 22"

USA-Ecuador: Nagbe makes it a feel-good friendly
by Mike Woitalla, Soccer America Daily.

It felt at times as if one were watching a scrimmage, the USA-Ecuador Copa Centenario preparation friendly before a sparse crowd in Frisco, Texas. But Darlington Nagbe  rewarded the fans, who suffered through some lackluster play from both teams, with a last-minute golazo for a 1-0 USA win.

1. It was a good result for Klinsmann’s men

Considering the USA’s form within the last year -- Gold Cup and Concacaf Cup failure, a World Cup qualifying loss at Guatemala and tie at Trinidad & Tobago -- this result has to feel good for Coach Jurgen Klinsmann, even if it came in a home friendly.

It marked the USA’s most impressive result since beating Germany and the Netherlands in 2015 summer friendlies. No, Ecuador doesn’t rate as high as those teams, but higher than any teams the USA has beaten since. After six games, Ecuador is in second place in South American World Cup qualifying and eight of the Ecuadorans on the field in Frisco played in wins at Argentina and/or at home over Uruguay late last year.

2. We’ll see a 17-year-old play in the Copa.

Christian Pulisic, who broke in at Borussia Dortmund this year, came on in the 63rd minute and helped create the two best U.S. chances in the second half before Nagbe’s goal. In fact, the 17-year-old would have scored had Alejandro Bedoya noticed Pulisic was in front of the open net when he tried to blast a low shot from an impossibly tight angle.

Pulisic also did a fantastic job keeping possession when the USA was holding on to its lead in stoppage time.

3. We know who should start on Saturday.

The USA has one more prep game before kicking off the Copa Cententario on June 3 against Colombia. And when it faces Bolivia on Saturday, Klinsmann should evaluate Pulisic as a starter, and also start Nagbe and Bobby Wood, who along with DeAndre Yedlin assisted on the gamewinner.

Klinsmann probably already has Wood slated to start in the Copa but wanted to test Gyasi Zardes against Ecuador. Zardes failed the exam and the USA played remarkably better in the second half than in the first.

But what happens late in a friendly with both teams platooning -- Ecuador subbed five in the last half hour -- doesn’t replicate a competitive game.

In any case, Nagbe, after his sixth appearance as a sub since debuting in last November, is overdue for being on the field at kickoff.

Summary

May 25 in Frisco, Texas
USA 1, Ecuador 0. Goal: Nagbe 90.

Ecuador -- Dominguez (Dreer, 46); Paredes, Erazo, Achilier (Arboleda, 73), Ramirez; Noboa (Gaibor, 69), Gruezo (Larrea, 59), Mena, Montero (Arroyo, 64); E.Valencia, Bolanos (Cazares, 68).

Yes they were missing 5 or 6 starters like us. But they had 2 starting defenders and goal keeper and conceded 7.... and we complaining about Marvin. Go and look at the highlights. Wow that was bad. Hope they bring that game against us.

Yes we still complaining about Marvin because he should have done better. You saying because a team concede seven and played more shit than the shit we played then we should not complain? Steupse no wonder why many do not consider us a serious football nation.

Was trying to introduce some perspective. I agree Marvins performance was unacceptable. We've established this.

I think Jan is for sure a step up but probably not the final solution.

Would be interested in seeing what alternatives we have. Seems not much.

I think Trinis actually are very critical supporters to a fault.

Will add some more.

Mkhitaryan alone is valued more than the entire Guatemalan NT (whether B or A or halfway A, halfway B). That by itself is a game changer, even for an unheralded team such as Armenia. Doh minimize the Guatemalan squad composition though. Our nemesis Pescado Ruiz played. And, he scored.

However, was that the curse of the early goal or potentially something more sinister? Intriguing result for a team in transition.

Ah cyah seem to ignore that both Guatemala and Armenia have very recent history with match-fixing episodes. I did not view the match, but what I do know is that this occasion marked the first time any Armenian NT player has scored a hattrick. Ah know a couple US-based Armenian coaches  and they RARELY have much to celebrate. In fact, they typically have NOTHING positive to say about Armenian football.

Hope this did not involve a deep-pocket from LA.

Separately ...

Interesting reading Pirlo's comments about the US college game while observing the presence of former US college players on rosters of Copa Centenario squads. Yesterday, Bolivia played with Alejandro Melean (Holy Cross) in the encounter v. the US. And Guatemala has Edwin Rivas (Cal State Northridge). We know only too well that our experience with ex-college players has been uneven. Could there be an underlying significance regarding where these players are popping up?

please post our game against uraguay some body. if i knew how i would have already done it.

I got this link.
The 1st half starts at 09.18 and you get a full screen at 09.56
The 2nd half starts at 05.43. Be patient, just let it load and then move to 09.18 for the 1st half where you will see a mini screen but then it goes to normal at 09.56, do the same for second half at 05.43. I am watching same now.
