People don't push pan like dey use to.......

At a time in we history, you had the men in society pushing pan on the road and road march was solely dictated by the steel pan sides, this has disappeared and we have djs which lack musical knowledge and substance dictating the road. More so it is great to have so many women on the road, all we men love that but none of them interested in pushing pan, yes now we have more women playing pan which is another transition but pan music hasn't caught on to the road like it once did.

Its no longer the pan which is the influence, hence you have less and less soca artists singing pan tune and coming up with better quality music. I think TUCO in efforts to save our national instrument and elevate our music, need to revert to the road being dictated by the pan, instead of a dj.

It will be hard to take this power away from the djs bc they have become common place in carnival despite the negative effects they are having on the music. They serve as a medium for our music but must also take the initiative to promote and play better music. I think it should be mandatory that a soca artist release a pan tune every year in order to enter road march, this song will be played on pan and can be played by a dj, the voting will be split, 50% based on the djs, 50% on the pan sides. In this way the artists will have to take their time with the music and then we can see a rise in we music once more, more melodic, harmonious music that can be slowed down so that the international market can play it on pan and listen to it, then we will break through, instead of slowing down we music so outsiders could understand, it speeding up, we must get out of this trend in order to progress.
