IFFEZHEIM - Local authorities for the small German city of Iffezheim have turned down a request to erect a giant tent to house 5,000 English fans at this summer's World Cup finals.

An English organisation wanted to use Iffezheim, located in the south western Baden Wurtemburg state, 20km from England's training camp in Buhlertal, as a giant campsite for travelling England fans, with accommodation thin on the ground.

English fans, who have a reputation for causing trouble at football events, will flock to Germany for this summer's World Cup, which runs from June 9 until July 9.

England face Paraguay in their first group game in Frankfurt on June 10 and further group B matches against Trinidad and Tobago and Sweden, who they also played in the 2002 edition at the group stage.
