Finally win sonething A.few thoughts:
Steve bruces gameplan was on point.
Bruces sons injury made a difference for hull.
Sanogo for Podolski was a big difference maker for arsenal, he doesn't score (yet), but his movement was a problem for hull.
The ref could have given 3 penalties for arsenal
Vinnie Jones needs to be part of the studio crew.
Please, send Gus back to baseball or whatever. Send Wynalda somewhere too
Good win Arsenal, now with the monkey off their back, I think they can do great things.

Arsenal is set to complete the signing of Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for a transfer fee of EUR 37.7 million. I'ts a four year contract. Medical is scheduled for today. French and Newcastle defender Debuchy has completed his medical. I believe the Club will be making the announcement tomorrow.

Alexis Sanchez agrees to join Arsenal

Chile international striker Alexis Sanchez has agreed to join Arsenal Football Club on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

Sanchez, 25, joins Arsenal from Barcelona where he made a total of 88 appearances, scoring 39 goals during his three seasons with the Catalan side.

With Barcelona, Sanchez won both La Liga (2012/13) and the Copa del Rey (2012), as well as the Spanish Super Cup on two occasions (2011, 2013), the UEFA Super Cup (2011) and the FIFA Club World Cup (2011).

Regarded as one of the world’s finest talents, Sanchez has just returned from the World Cup in Brazil, where he played an integral role in Chile qualifying from their group (which included the Netherlands, Spain and Australia) and reaching the round of 16. During the tournament, Sanchez scored two goals from his four appearances.

The striker, who has now made 71 appearances for Chile, scoring 24 goals, started his career with Cobreloa, based in Calama in north Chile, where he spent a season before moving to Santiago-based Colo-Colo, where he won the Chilean Primera Division in 2007.

After convincing performances in Chile between 2005 and 2007, Sanchez went on loan to Argentine side River Plate, where he added the Argentinian Primera Division to his honours.

Following his success in South America, Sanchez made a permanent move to Serie A side Udinese in 2008, where he spent three seasons, scoring 20 goals from 95 appearances, before making the move to Barcelona in 2011.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: “As many people have seen during the World Cup this summer, Alexis is a fantastic footballer and we are delighted that he is joining us at Arsenal Football Club.

“Alexis will add power, creativity and much quality to our squad and we are all looking forward to him joining up with us in a few weeks. He has consistently produced top-quality performances at the highest level for a number of seasons now and we are all excited to see him integrate into the Arsenal squad. I’m sure all Arsenal supporters will join me in welcoming Alexis to our club.”

Sanchez said: “I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal, a club which has a great manager, a fantastic squad of players, huge support around the world and a great stadium in London. I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to be playing for Arsenal in the Premier League and Champions League. I will give my best to Arsenal and want to make all the supporters happy.”

Sanchez travelled to London Colney on Thursday to complete his medical and will join up with his new team-mates at the end of July, after spending some time on holiday following the World Cup.

It is expected that Sanchez will make his first Arsenal appearance at the Emirates Cup, which takes place at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3.

Sanchez’s Arsenal squad number will be revealed soon through Arsenal’s official Instagram account.

A full interview with Alexis will feature soon on Arsenal Player.

Everyone at Arsenal welcomes Alexis to the club and looks forward to seeing him in an Arsenal shirt.

The transfer is subject to the normal regulatory process.

We go be OK...we ain't stupid just to go and spend money on players that don't fit into our playing philosophy like Spurs did.

Exactly the player Arsenal was looking for. He offers everything the Gunners attack was missing last season. 2 world class players in 2 summers. And people want to say Wenger afraid to spend money on quality.

We've completed the last stage of the 10 year freeze of heavy spending on world class players.

Amen to that. Madrid's #10 and Barca's #9 in two summers. And we were able to tell them we didn't need Cesc. Basically this is a huge "I told you so!" from Wenger and the board to the fans who were complaining about them being cheap.

Arsenal complete Mathieu Debuchy signing

http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20140717/arsenal-complete-mathieu-debuchy-signing

France international Mathieu Debuchy has joined Arsenal Football Club on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old right back has just returned from the World Cup in Brazil, where he helped France reach the quarter-finals.

An experienced defender, Debuchy arrives from Newcastle United, where he featured 46 times during an 18-month spell. He spent the first nine years of his senior career with French side Lille, where he made 233 Ligue 1 appearances for his boyhood club and a further 18 in the Uefa Champions League.

Debuchy helped Lille to a league and Coupe de France double in 2010/11 and in the following season his contribution was recognised by being named in the 2011/12 Ligue 1 Team of the Season. His performances also earned him his international debut against Albania in October 2011, and he now has 25 caps for France.

Arsène Wenger said: “We are delighted to welcome Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal Football Club. He has shown he can perform at the highest level with his club sides and also for France. He is a quality defender who has good Premier League experience and I’m confident he will fit in very well with us.”

Debuchy will join up with his new team-mates soon for pre-season preparations and is expected to make his debut at the Emirates Cup in the first weekend of August.

He said: “I’m very proud to be joining a great club like Arsenal and to wear its colours, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the whole world. I’m looking forward to working with Arsène Wenger and to helping the team build on last season’s FA Cup success. Playing again in the Champions League is a big excitement for me and I will do my best to help Arsenal compete for trophies.”

Debuchy’s Arsenal squad number will be revealed soon through Arsenal’s official Instagram account @Arsenal.

Everyone at Arsenal would like to welcome Mathieu to the Club.

Arsenal to sign David Ospina from Nice

David Ospina will join Arsenal Football Club on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper had an impressive World Cup with Colombia, helping his country to the quarter finals in Brazil with a series of fine displays.
He arrives at Emirates Stadium from French side Nice, where he made 189 Ligue 1 appearances during a six-year spell.
Ospina began his career with Atletico Nacional in Colombia’s Categoria Primera A league, aged just 17. An experienced international, he currently has 49 caps for his country.
Arsène Wenger said of the club’s new signing: “David Ospina is an excellent goalkeeper, with good experience and a proven record of performing with Nice and Colombia. He will add strength to our squad and we are very pleased that he will be joining us."
It is expected Ospina will make his first Arsenal appearance at the Emirates Cup, which takes place at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3.
Ospina’s Arsenal squad number will be revealed soon through Arsenal’s official Instagram account.
Everyone at Arsenal would like to welcome David to the Club.
The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.

Seeing the training camp pictures and new signing Calum Chambers wearing #5. Like Vermaelen going to sell guns somewhere else.  ;D

This transfer window just keeps getting better and better! Sanchez comes to the BPL club with the brightest future (why on earth would he choose Liverpool over Arsenal at this point in their history?), Sagna replaced by the man keeping him out of the French National Team, Fabianski replaced with a player of quality and a highly promising young, versatile fullback signed. Time for that starting holding midfielder then bring on the season!

29 July 2014

Our most-important signing won't even play a single minute..
Forget Alexis. Forget Debuchy, Ospina, or Chambers.  Ignore any reports around any other player we may or may not sign. Those players, after all, will vie for time on the pitch with other members of the squad, rotating in as necessary or deserved and, more crucially, replacing them when they're injured. Arsenal's most significant signing of the summer won't compete for time on the pitch . He won't reduce anyone to time on the bench. His job will consist entirely of keeping our players on the pitch as much as possible. Shad Forsythe, fitness coach for Germany's national team, will come in to work alongside our current fitness coach, Tony Colbert. Forsythe's name may not be as drool-inducing as some of the players we covet, but his contributions off the pitch could prove to be even more vital than any contributions any players could make on it.

After all, even before the additions of the aforementioned four, this was a squad that held firmly onto first place for 128 days, keeping Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man City at arm's length until the wheels fell off. Injuries and fatigue denied us the services of player after player after player to the point that, collectively, our players missed 289 league games, far away the best (worst?) record in the Prem, more than double the number missed by Chelsea's players (109) or by City's (142). If Forsythe can reduce our injury-record even marginally, we could see a significant improvement in our fortunes.

Forsythe's speciality is in recovery, which some take to mean "getting injured but healing quickly." However, this reflects only a partial understanding of his role. "Recovery" as Forsythe practices it is a concept much broader than that, involving bloodwork, nutrition, and other treatments tailored specifically to each athlete and his or her extertion levels. In this piece he wrote for the PerformBetter! website, he explains his methods and work with the German national team. I'll boil it down a bit but encourage you to give the full article a read. What he emphasizes is a regimen that will enhance an athlete's body to recover from exertion more quickly, enabling the athlete's tissues and joints to recuperate more fully between matches, thereby reducing the risk of exhaustion, which causes some injuries and can increase the risk of other injuries.

For example, Forsythe writes:
Post workout nutrition should consist of: a mixture of carbohydrates, fats, proteins (based on the athletes body composition and exertion level), electrolytes (based on the athletes perspiring levels), and water for hydration. Cryotherapy should consist of cold water immersion (55 degrees F) for at least 5 minutes. Athletes exerting the whole body (Rugby/American Football) should be fully immersed with only the head showing while athlete primarily exerting the lower body (Cyclist/Soccer) immersion to above the waist is acceptable.
Daily treatments that include stretching, cryotherapy (that would be the cold-water immersion), self-massage, and professional massage may not sound like revolutionary techniques, but I'm sure that Forsythe's work with the German team and ours would consist of more individualized regimens. Earlier in that same article, he talks of "blood samples weekly throughout the [2006 World Cup] to monitor signs of stress and overtraining" and how team-doctors reported "the lowest markers for stress and overtraining in the history of German National Teams during a tournament and credited the results to our consistent recovery regimen." Germany may not have won the 2006 World Cup, but they did win in 2014 despite playing in the heat and humidity against an Argentinian squad theoretically more-comfortable with such conditions.

Forsythe may not be able to prevent the kind of injures that Oxlade-Chamberlain or Walcott suffered this season, by he may very well be able to prevent the other knocks, niggles, and strains that build up over the course of a season. How much better might Mesut have played in his first Prem season, his first away from La Liga's softer winter? Would Ramsey have suffered his thigh-strain in the first place? Could we see Diaby play an entire season? We lambasted our trainers all season for failing to prevent injuries or get players back on their feet as quickly as we were told they'd be. I'm not saying that Forsythe will set us up for an injury-free season; far from it. If he can mitigate our injury-woes in any way, though, he might just be the best addition to the squad.

What is tiring is to lose players to City or somebody else. You will have to ask Sagna why he chose City. I made him a proposal to stay for three years, but he chose them. Had he chosen a long time ago? Maybe – it looks to me like he agreed it a long time before. It is disappointing because he came here as an unknown and he became a French international. But I also respect Sagna because, until the last day of his contract with us, he was super-professional. - Arsene Wenger.

[In the last five years, Arsenal have lost Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and now Sagna to City].

Interesting that none of the players we lost to City were huge successes. Nasri still has a chance. Clichy is ok and Sagna's career is winding down. Probably why I never felt that hostile towards City buying our players.

Ramsey, what can I say? The man has that Thomas Muller quality of knowing where to be and he can bury it. Keep it up Aaron!
